What is the biggest danger for PC gaming?

What is the biggest danger for PC gaming?

Valve monopoly?
DENUVO?
Or scamsites like G2A or Kinguin?

All of them + consoles closing the technologic gap.

Linux dropping all vidya support while Microsoft and Apple make their OS subscription-based and require a paid sub with GFWL to play the games while having the OS constantly search for and eliminate all files that are typically cracks.

It would outright kill PC gaming.

>Linux dropping all vidya support
this literally cannot happen
autists will find a way

>What is the biggest danger for PC gaming?

this generation of devs and the fags that buy their garbage.

Microsoft monopoly

can AAA devs really be considered devs?

The biggest danger to PC gaming is everyone having to stop and check those quads.

There were still a dedicated few during the Vidya Crash, clearly that meant the industry didn't momentarily die.

Seriously, the amount of autists who would be willing to jump through all of those fucking hoops would be not even 2% of the PC gaymen pop, who will abandon the platform completely if it comes to that in favor for the convenience of console gaming in rough comparison.

Zombie apocalypse I guess. Or nuclear war.

the autists will pave the way for casuals to enjoy free* video games on GNU/Linux without having to spend 30 hours every day recompiling kernels

*free as in freedom

biggest danger? the mediocrity of it all.

Games are becoming a business, instead of being actually fun. We live in an era where the only incentive for most developers to make games, it to do so with profit in mind, which is why we have such a numerous amount of shitty games with 'buy-to-win' methods of play, and lots of incomplete stuff funded prior to actually making the game.

It's like how the church wants people to donate, but instead of using it for helping hundreds to thousands of people, they build themselves a new big pretty building, and the pastor/minister/priest suddenly has a brand new current year model car.

Your post on Sup Forums you pleb.

It's impossible for Valve to get a monopoly because every time they try to increase their power, they bungle it like amateurs. The paid mods incident cost them at least a few million customers, and gave GOG and Desura tons more traffic.

>scamsites
>devs think they're entitled to force their customers to pay a country based price for goods which are neither physical nor require any logistics on their side
Reselling key is allowed under EU law.

Nvidia and AMD purposefully gimping old GPUs.

Basically, hardware developer and game developer partnerships.

>valve monopoly
maybe
>denuvo
no
>g2a or kinguin
nigga cheap games aint gonna kill my gaming experience

>Denuvo
Anti-piracy measures are not a danger to the industry. Pirates are scum and deserve nothing.

pirates

Nvidia pretty much having a monopoly with GPUs soon

>What is the biggest danger for PC gaming?

Misogynist white men.

Intel pretty much having a monopoly with CPUs soon

>scamsites like G2A or Kinguin
do we have to do this again ?
you will only get scammed if you're legally retarded and buy from shady seller, all the info is available right there on each site

We can sit here all day I can discuss if a game is worth money, resources or even if you can afford it, but content creators, especially the good ones need the money so companies have the incentive to make good games.
You may argue that once a game is succesfull or old that it no longer makes a difference, but that sort of indifference leads to you not paying for games from big companies: someone will always have to do it and it always has to be you.

Buying keys with stolen credit cards is not.

>2007, pirates continue pirating
>PIRATING DAMAGES SALES
>2008, pirates still pirating
>PIRATES ARE KILLING VIDEO GAMES
>2009, pirating chugs along
>PIRATES ARE JUST ABOUT TO KILL VIDEO GAMES ENTIRELY
>2010-2016, pirating intensifies while game industry flourishes
>IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN ANY DAY NOW
my face when people still fall for the pirates killing the industry meme despite every incorrect prediction

> while game industry flourishes

Thanks to $60 season passes and p2w shit being added to full price game. Thanks faggot.

a AAA dev is a AAA dev. You can't say it's only half.

>IT'S ALL THE PIRATES FAULT
>THEY MADE US DO IT
>THEY MADE US BUY IT
Do you seriously believe those features were added as response to piracy and not because of sheer greed

>consoles closing the technologic gap.
>people actually believe this when games are routinely at medium settings or lower compared to the PC version and at lower framerates

G2A is a scam? How so?

pirates are not killing the industry. They are the reason tho why so many devs avoid pc like the plague and why games in general are so fucking expensive.

Piracy is still scapegoat for devs being lazy pieces of shit and thinking that they shouldn't have to put any effort into their ports but are still entitled to your $60.

>why games in general are so fucking expensive.
That is almost entirely caused by overinflated budgets and mismanagement of money.

>be me
>see discusting and immature behavior of PC gamers and especially PCMRetards
>don't want to suppport platform with such a shitty and hypocrytical audience
>literally stopped buying games on PC
>havent bought a game on PC for like 2 years
>pirate and play everything on PC though
>buy console version instead so I have a legal version and devs get my money.

This reads like a youtube comment user.

denuvo is saving pc gaming you fucking retarded piratefags
devs actually dare to make good pc games now

Only console ports use Denuvo though. And the ones that do aren't really selling any better. Where are those extra few million sales from people who can't pirate?

Microsoft and Win10 currently stands to shit all over all our freedoms, and possibly could fuck us out of "personal computers" as we know them right now.

Nvidia is also pushing the same direction and they lead the GPU market by a landslide.

Denuvo and grey market sites and the tiniest drop in the bucket. Piracy is a joke anons.

The fact that most of the interesting upcoming games are ps4 exclusives.

>persona 5
>ni-oh
>Last Guardian
>NieR: Automata
>Horizon

The only PC game I'm looking forward to is Civ VI.

None of those games are interesting to me. Not even Civ 6.

If next gen consoles have KB+M support, are more powerful for the same price as a PC, let you play every old PC game for free and drop paid online.
There'd be literally no reason to buy gaming PCs.

Especially if each console purchase comes with a willing sex slave. Seems plausible.

How do you imagine a console, owned by a single company and running only the content THEY approve of and sell you, to have every old PC game on it for free?
And why would they drop paid online you are already paying it?

PCs could be stuck in 2005 on their power and still would exist - because they run ANYTHING WRITTEN BY ANYONE FOR THEM.

So when you want to create something you don't have to buy a devkit, pay a company royalties and get censored and judged by their standards.

Even if your PS4 could give blowjobs and do 8k vidya at the same time, PCs would still be needed.

According to Sony the only reason people like PC is hardware power. It couldn't possibly be that consoles are locked down and full of anti-consumer practices and shitty games made by committee.

I dont think there is any signifigant dangera to PC gaming it eill just mean you need to actually buy your games

*free as in free beer
ftfy

It's not

Well at this point the consoles are literally kept alive by tradition and nothing else, the fact that people are used to them as a thing.
And now Sony has the hard task of somehow pulling another layer over the eyes of the dumb masses to mask them from the fact that they'll be buying a new console every 3-4 years because they just have to upgrade the hardware.

that's the middleman's problem, not the end-consumer's

easy access to a broad spectrum of videogames. let me explain.

pc gaming is a fandom, and fandoms are driven by frustrated desire. if pc gamers desire games, but cannot access them, the fandom grows stronger via ritualistic expressions of shared frustration. therefore no ports, bad ports, no exclusives, extreme system requirements, abandoned oldschool genres etc all make pc gaming stronger. when pc gamers get what they want, however, they are always disappointed and the fandom weakens.

for example, pc gamers used to bond over old school rpgs/adventure games/etc not being made anymore because of greedy publishers. then kickstarter brought those genres back, which of course did not satisfy the impossible nostalgic desires of pc gamers, and so they had to scramble to invent new reasons why getting what they want didn't make them happy (now it's "lazy devs" instead of "greedy ea"). at the end of this road lies the terrible realization that games are shit and you'll never be 10 years old again, which is freedom from desire and therefore death of pc gaming. to survive, the fandom needs villainous figures to blame their dissatisfaction on, therefore distracting themselves away from the existential void. the fact that the villains are now the tim shaefers and not the bobby koticks is a setback, because bobby kotick was a far more compelling villain.

>implying div OS wasn't widely praised
delete your post and preferably yourself as well

exactly! divinity was praised, and that weakens pc gaming, because complaining about nobody making isometric rpgs was one of the pillars of the fandom's social interaction. it's like if george lucas actually edited jar jar out of episode 1: what would star wars fans bond over if not their common hatred of jar jar? hatred of jar jar IS star wars fandom, missing old games IS pc gaming.
