Still has a lot of issues (they will address when the game stops shitting itself) and Niantic is way too shady (silent updates which make it harder to catch anything and remove extra XP from good pokeball throws amongst other things) and rampant with cheaters.
The game is very barebones too and it has some questionable decisions like making *everything* orbit around player level. Still good by mobile standards

Turn based battled would take far too long, ever play a 6v6 on simulator? Single battles can regularly take upward of 15-20 minutes, far too slow for this mobile game. You'd get two or three battles I before your phone dies and taking gyms could take hours.
They need to improve the battle system but lifting the slow battles from the games isn't the answer. Do you want to be standing there for 5-10 minutes trying to catch a single Pokemon?

Would take way too long, it needs to stay real-time. I think you're really underestimating how long a turn based battle would take in comparison to the current system. We have the real games for real gameplay, it simply would not fit well with this mobile game in which the entire point is to keep walking around. Trying to take a gym wills result in you standing there for 45 minutes repeated knocking out the same Pokemon. It's too slow.
Its great proof that the platform and the audience prevents any good game to pop up on mobiles.

I wish it was less random chance on catching Pokemon. It often feels like the measures you can take to make catching easier don't do much. They can knock your ball away after you've thrown it, they knock it away immediately after having knocked it away a second ago, they can escape "Excellent!" throws... I'm not gonna pay for Pokeballs, but they really fucking want me to.
The game was unstable even after they disabled features. things like nerfing catch rate, shrinking hitboxes and removing bonuses have nothing to do with stability

One thing pokevision did was show how totally unfair the pokemon spawns are. I lost all my will to play after scanning my whole city (500k pop ) and seeing only 2 pokemons that I did not already have ( I only have 48 pokedex entries ) vs scanning Los Angeles and seeing a crapload of various pokemon literally clumped around every corner.

pokevision is one thing, but the tracker was a fundamental part of the game. its basically boiled down to luck at this point, you're not actually hunting for pokemon, you're just hoping one spawns in your path.
