Remember to show those aliens whos the boss of this gym
Someone teach me how to not get my shit raped as an Air Raider.
My typical Air Raider mission goes like this:
>start out fine
>when the going gets though, call a vehicle
>wreck everyone's shit with the vehicle
>vehicle runs out
>get out
>get fucked
I'm also complete shit as a Fencer, but I don't really care about that. I'm good/decent with Rangers and Wing Divers. I really want to be less shit as an Air Raider but I keep fucking up.
Starship troopers mod when
don't play air raider solo
Air Raider is meant as a support class to other players. The vehicles are good, but like you said, once they're down, you get fucked. You need other players there to aggro targets and watch your back, while you in turn watch theirs.
If you've been wrecking shit enough you should have more than enough points to call in another vehicle.
Try to keep a distance from the enemy if you want to be effective. Tell your teammates to protect you. Your Limpit gun is pretty shit and you're going to get boned in close combat no matter what.
Also solo Air Raider sucks dick. It's a support class.
the game is really fucking boring
Also if you're just starting out, it's well known that Air Raider has one of the shittiest slow starts ever. If you can get with some friends or join a farming room for better gear, you're golden.
Ah, that makes sense since I only play singleplayer.
>Your Limpit gun is pretty shit
I find it pretty decent at range, but I found out the hard way that it's not a weapon you can really rely on.
Though Allahu Ackbarring an ant that managed to grab me is pretty funny.
Only singleplayer by choice? You're missing out on a lot of fun.
I'd play more multiplayer, but I usually get on at unusual times due to timeszones and irregular work hours so it's hard to find someone to play with regularly.
I'm also afraid of people getting mad at me for being shit and accidentally blowing them up or something like that.
A-at least I have fun singing songs with my AI squadmates.
I'm so fucking bored of this shit game. I'm at level 80 and I don't even feel like seeing the ending. One new enemy type for every 10 levels and one new level type for every 20 levels is just not enough diversity. Also way too many anti air missions in the last third.
I wouldn't worry about people getting mad at you. Everyone I know just plays it for fun as an arcade game, nothing serious. Besides, some mess-ups can be funny. EDF is anything but a serious, hardcore coordinated game.
And if anything, half the players online are Japanese, more likely to insult themselves than anyone else
The latest patch removed region lock so even if it's not someone regular, you should have no trouble finding open games.
Tell that to the autists who yell at you if you use a suboptimal vehicle as a land raider.
air raider*
Played too much 40k
I can't afford it and missed the release discount
It's like 30 dollars on g2a.
You need to use air strikes and weapons with the purpose of recharging vehicles drops, not the other way around.
So call a vehicle first, send a good airstrike and farm a decent limpet gun to get some kills, specially if 1 or 2 bugs surround you, you should get out and kill them without wasting your vehicle bullets. Using air strikes that recharge faster can also work.
As soon as you recharge your next vehicle, get out and call another even if you don't need it.
Some mission are harder depending the class, but you should be able to beat any mission on hard with level 30+ stuff.
DELETE THIS
Is the game still broken for AMD users?
No, they hotfixed that supposedly
Time to save the world from xeno filth then.
Good Limpet Buster, good Limpet Splendor , good Depth Crawler
You're now invincible and even solo is easy mode
Just looked this game up because of this thread. Holy shit this looks amazing.
I feel like I've really missed out not being familiar with this series earlier.
Purchased and installing now.
Which class do I try first?
>Console kids crying that a PC release will ruin discussion of the game
>Nothing but positive and enthusiastic discussion since release
It really is just console kids shitting up their own threads and blaming it on PC users isn't it?
Ranger is by far the most straight-forward and beginner-friendly class. Doesn't mean it's not fun though, it just plays the most like a regular shooter, so it's easy to learn.
It's people on either side who can't discuss a game without whining about other people enjoying the same game in a different way.
Like you're doing right now.
That's what I was thinking of trying first. If nothing else it'll be the baseline in which I judge other classes.
Just finished installing, time to purge some bugs.
Sorry I don't follow
Just talk about the game and stop whining about who's ruining what, especially when you're the only one bringing it up.
How to be a gundam:
(Fencer class)
Equip a Javelin and a melee weapon of your choice
Hold down the Javelin attack key and press the boost key as fast as you can
Absolutely radical
I don't think I understand?
Dumped ~40 hours in a week on it (along with working full time) and now I'm just burned out
I fucked up because now I feel like I'll have a hard time going back to EDF 4.1, but it was a hell of a ride.
how do I farm crimson on inferno with wing diver ? i want cool weapons
Why don't more games have the destruction this game does?
Destruction is hard to do right since you have all kinds of physics involved, so most games don't do it at all (or only in small ways), or keep it to stuff like cutscenes.
EDF gets away with using its really janky destruction system because, on the whole, it's just a janky game so it's easy to accept it as part of the whole. If you had an AAA game where buildings just kinda shattered into big geometric chunks like that, it'd be ridiculous.
EDF!!! EDF!!!
Ranger is the comfy one, has a lot of weapon variety and healing/repairing tools for online.
Wing diver if you like flying with laser and weird weapons. In online it's nice for taking down strategic targets and rescuing people unless you suck.
Air Rider has the largest kit with air strikers, vehicles, turrets, med bays, mines, shields, etc, it does everything.
Fencer can carry more pew weapons and it's the most durable, but you have to know the map and equip weapons accordingly or it's the most useless shit. It's a class for using specific strategies in specific maps.
It's a 9.9/10 game, only needs an extra wing drone companion for wings divers that allows them to transport other players and a new class that should be a FEMALE CYBORG just like my 90' cartoons.
>Paying $60 for a budget weeb game
Thanks but no thanks
Seconding I don't know how to beat it on inferno with any class even with lvl 50 stuff.
>Sonyggers are so mad about losing their precious exclusive that they've resorted to shitposting about it
It's okay, you still have BLUHBORNE. for now
It's a piece of cake for Air Raider if you use a Balam.
>neo Sup Forums shitposting
pick air raider, get bombing plan C twice, and the Balam. call the bombing twice and hit as much as possible. don't care about losing a few allied soldiers
EDF!
Glad to hear you joined the edf soldier, I've heard theres a discord floating around if you want to join fellow soldiers though I haven't come across it myself yet
Ranger is a great class to start with, rifle and bazooka only get better as you notch up the difficulty and they get more fun to use. After that it's up to you to pick a specialised class, speed, strength, or giant vehicles of destruction. Enjoy
>implying I have $30 to spend
>Fencer can carry more pew weapons and it's the most durable, but you have to know the map and equip weapons accordingly or it's the most useless shit. It's a class for using specific strategies in specific maps.
To be honest it's mostly about air enemies. Don't fuck yourself over by having nothing to shoot them with. Strike + shield is always useful for giant insects unless you are in tunnels maybe. Second loadout I use purely for ranged weapons and the worst thing that happens to me is being useless when the sky is full of drones.
>ranger
>Running for my life because I got too close to a drop ship and now I'm being swarmed
>Too far from allies to get help
>About to fucking die and there's nothing anyone can do about it
>Suddenly a yellow dot appears behind me
>A big-ass fucking tank appears
>The fuck
>NFL Quarterback Air Raider threw me a tank from halfway across the map
Thanks AR.
For fencer, get some good jackhammers and alternate you ranged weapons per mission and you'll be fine, senpai.
Mortars, galleons, high altitude missiles work for a lot of missions.
>rifle and bazooka
Not that guy, but I've mostly been rolling with sniper and grenade launcher so far.
Though I use the sniper that fires like a rifle, so I guess that kinda counts as a rifle.
And then the tank was destroyed by the swarm shortly after right
I can only play on normal
This game gives me the "hero soldier" feeling more than any of the war games too. It's so awesome. The character animations and vehicle physics also feel so sooo good.
No it was some big golden tank
The recoil was hilarious because I hit a piece of debris and thought I'd flip over.
Just play normal to get weapon unlocks and armor upgrades, then switch to a different difficulty.
Rangers can start on Hard if you want, but for other classes I wouldn't recommend it unless you really know what you're doing.
...It was an exclusive? I literally never heard about the game until Sup Forums got excited about it coming to Steam. I just assumed it was always a PC game.
EDF think they slick...
Except for helicopters.
I am in love with the concept and tone though: being a legendary soldier hero, fighting off the alien threat almost singlehandedly, but still being one person and losing the war everywhere you aren't. Surprisingly heavy for this kind of game.
The grenade launcher is great, especially on underground missions but on foes that take to the skies it can be a real pain. Still if the sniper rifle can take them out relatively quickly or you have a competent team then it's all good. There's no real wrong way to play the ranger, I've rolled 2 shotguns before, one that has ridiculously long range and one with short and managed to hold my relatively well.
what if you could play as the aliens
Nobody ever talks about it. I own a Bloodborne machine and I hadn't heard about 4.1 until it came out on PC.
>everyones grinding mission 27
>I just grab as many fencer bros as I can and dance on the beach in front of swarms of ants
The series has been around since ps1.
The devs also made Robotic Alchemic Drive and shit.
...
Same with Air rider but I guess it's more obvious like not bringing air strikes on tunnels.
With fencer you think something may work until you try it.
Late game helis are surprisingly decent.
The ones with the lock-on flamethrowers are OP as shit.
That would be HERESY
Thanks for the blog
how the fuck do you fly helis in this game, it's like fucking brain surgery
Does it run on W10?
The high level ones either suck at maneuvering and have lock-on weapons (like in the pic) or are ridiculously easy to move.
>You and your ranger team begin storming the attacked residential area
>Civilians running towards your line and thanking you as they run past.
Everything is okay! Because I am here!
Early helos fly like shit, you have to plan your movements way ahead of time because they can't turn very quickly.
>Mfw learned how to pilot helis effectively
>Form a helicopter squad with another guy for that shield bearer mission in the mountains on Inferno
>Fly to each one in sync and blow it up like a fucking swan ballet of fire and bullets
Civilians are just potential bug food. I suggest immediate removal.
anything for the edf
big tip:
if you're going downwards at the speed you feel is good, you're probably going too fast and need to jam the accelloratoriroror. Not gentle ppress it but jam it.
Then you fly like a god.
Wait til you try the motorcycles.
but I am though. The EDF leaves no man behind.
The game already is starship troopers though
I haven't heard of that either. I guess it's just a niche series or something then? I'm VAGUELY aware of what the series is about, it's like a parody of those old B-movies where it's like "THE INVADERS FROM BEYOND THE STARS: ATTACK OF THE GIANT ANTS" or something?
...
Yes.
...
Motorcycles are only useful if you put 6 C70 bombs on them and drive into hectors
TO SAVE OUR MOTHER EARTH FROM ANY ALIEN ATTACK
This game honestly has my favorite depiction of dragons. Fire breathing, super sonic, people eating mother fuckers who start as tiny dots in the sky to become a huge stick up your arse before you know what's hit you.
Basically.
Aliums attack earth and you're apart of a special team of dudes to stop them with crazy weapons and shit.
normal -> any weapon
hard -> level 20+ weapons
hardest -> more armor, level 40+
>$50 for a japanese game that came out last year
???
>bug colony mission
>find a bunch of wing divers stuck in trying to pass through a wall
>unable to proceed through the proper path
>fire explosives at them to try to push them in the right way
>almost all of them die
>the rest return to their previous spot and remain stuck trying to fly through a wall
Those poor, mindbroken sluts. The war always takes its toll ;_;7
Yeah pretty much. It's a mission-based third person shooter with hundreds of weapons and vehicles, four classes, and all the missions are basically you in a city vs millions of stupid giant insects and giant robots while NPCs ramble cheesy lines.
They are just fucking impossible to control.
Pic related is some japanese guy, where him and I both covered his bike in C4, before he scooted off in the complete wrong direction before blowing himself up.
Am I supposed to play SP through its entirety with on class or changing between classes during different missions?
EDF!
You just have to take your time with the acceleration. If you jam in the stick from idle, you're gonna have a bad time.
Protip you have to drive backwards and scream EDF万歳 before doing it.
If you're playing on normal, definitely change classes regularly. Not just to get a feel for every class, but also because the difficulty for some missions can be drastically different depending on your class.
I remember seeing a some gifs on Sup Forums and getting curious about it. Played a PSP one that was untranslated for a couple of missions, and a Ps3 one that was made by westerners i think.
But this 4.1 really hooked me. Got it for my ps4 because i probably can't run it on my toaster.
Played insect Armageddon but the repetitiveness killed me. Is 4.1 better?
