This is it. This is going to be the product that finally ends the century's old company known as Nintendo.
If you conduct research about what this project supposedly does it just seems like the biggest marketing gimmick that surpasses the original Wii and Wii U.
There has to be no way to effectively create a hybrid that is part home console, part handheld console, and smartphone.
This is going to end badly.
Oliver Brooks
What if there is no nx yet and nintendo is just watching post and comments of what people want and they will deliver something good later.
Ian Bennett
breath of the wild is the game that will keep them afloat
Henry King
As usual, you have forgotten that nintendo still has a shit ton of money to sit back on. Theye have also been making money throughout the wii u period thanks to their handheld devices.
Elijah Foster
What if Nintendo blows all of that money on the NX?
Christian Brooks
I can somehow hear the stammering
Jordan Wilson
Why all the Nintendoomed threads today?
Cameron Johnson
>no way to effectively create a hybrid that is part home console, part handheld console Yeah, just like there is no way to create a console based around motion controls. Except they did, and it worked, even if we needed to rely on 3rd party developers to make the good content.
>but there are no 3rd party Nintendo developers! There are plenty of developers for Nintendo's portable systems, and with Sony bowing out of that arena, they're unlikely to go elsewhere.
Carter Campbell
Third party developers of shovelware?
And I thought the Wii didn't have strong third party support which is why it was only Nintendo that utilized much of the motion controls.
Carson Campbell
>Third party developers of shovelware?
Square-Enix, Sega, and Ubisoft, for starters. If the "handheld" rumors are true, there will also be Capcom for future Monster Hunter titles.
Ian Jackson
I'm fine with this, Nintendo's home consoles been on a downhill spiral since the GameCube at least for me.
Daniel Baker
l have zero interest in this trainwreck but this typically sounds like the kind of shit hurdcure gaymers will ignore but could be a decent success among casuals
Kayden Martin
> hurdcure gaymers You mean the faggots who thinks playing Call of Duty on the two mainstream consoles make them hardcore?
Evan Reyes
I'm withholding judgment until I actually see the thing and get more details on how it will function.
Camden Turner
But will it have two screens?
Jaxson Fisher
It is "not a successor to the 3DS" and is a "third pillar" of Nintendo systems (again) so no, don't expect two screens.
Jason Sanders
Badly for third parties, yeah.
I thought I'd hop on for a bit and talk about NX, following the digitime rumors. Suffice to say, THOSE rumors are bullshit, while I believe the Eurogamer ones are genuine.
Nintendo is evolving the Wii U into a system that will appealing to mobile gamers. It is them that they want to win over. They are well aware that Playsation only has customers because of the millions they spend on marketing. Making a genuinely interesting product is much more rewarding, and creating a platform that utilizes phones in some way will be ideal.
NX IS NOT A PHONE. It is something that uses the fact that everyone has a phone to it's advantage. What that something is, though, is the secret to NX's success.
Wii U was not a blunder. I think it was a tech demo to set up for NX, which doesn't seem to be all that more powerful going by what the more believable leaks are saying.
Luis Price
I really like Nintendo as a games developer
What I'm afraid of more than anything is that somehow the NX allows them to limp by yet another generation rather than failing spectacularly and finally forcing them to go 3rd party
Holding their games hostage behind their junk hardware should be a crime
Jonathan Ward
I think they announced when they'll start NX production.
Jayden Howard
The last time they said stuff like that we got the DS which was clearly a successor to the Gameboy, so maybe this time we'll get something more like the GBA.
Phone hardware capable of 720p gaming is now really cheap even if it supports a next-gen graphics API like Vulkan. So the NX could easily be a cheap robust handheld based on a cheap SOC that they could package into several different form factors to provide a hybrid experience. Dropping the 3DS clamshell form factor would really open up their options so we could see something like a new GBA Micro style device.
Ayden Kelly
That's too bad, I liked the clamshell design and how too screens made maps, menus and things like that more convenient to use. That also kills Virtual Console for DS, 3DS and Wii U games.
Matthew White
>That also kills Virtual Console for DS, 3DS and Wii U games The WiiU can play DS games on solely the gamepad, so if the NX is a tablet, it can still have DS VC
Mason Williams
Vita already did it m8. It's a handheld, has a console counterpart, and has many ported japanese smartphone games like million arthur
Zachary Davis
>cartrige based >no dual screens
So no backwards compatability for the 3DS or the wiiU.
Hmm, they better have a 10 game+ strong launch line up because if its already going to play multiplats significantly inferiorly to the competition, they need not only good firsty party games but god-like first party games
Brandon Ortiz
>This is it. This is going to be the product that finally ends the century's old company known as Nintendo. Wrong. >If you conduct research about what this project supposedly does it just seems like the biggest marketing gimmick that surpasses the original Wii and Wii U. True. >There has to be no way to effectively create a hybrid that is part home console, part handheld console, and smartphone. True. >This is going to end badly. Wrong.
Yes, it'll be shit. No, it won't kill Nintendo and neither will the next 3 shitty machines they'll make after that one.
Blake Thompson
>will have double the usual Nintendo output plus all third-party handheld games since Sony is apparently abandoning that market Somehow I doubt it will be an issue.
