pls respond
can we at least discuss this game? I really enjoyed it. Wish it had more gameplay and the choices mattered.
The Talos Principle partially has very similar themes as Soma, but goes broader and deeper. It's a beautiful and interesting puzzle game. You get the story mostly through reading.
not a fan of puzzle games but thanks for your input.
>the ARK level.
The choices don't matter in a game-perspective, but they matter in what YOU consider ethical or moral or right or whatever.
>really just looking for good story.
Read a book you fool.
Go back to call of duty
This is best responde. They've managed - with only several chocies - to make this game feel much more "personal" and "choice-matter" than anything that Telltale pooped out in past 5 years.
Unfortunetly there's not many of them. If you don't mind point&click then "I have no mouth and i must scream" is great. Stasis was nice, indie game, bit predicitible but still fun to play. Gemini Rue, another nice P&C.
I find video games more immersive. I can get into books but reading is uncomfortable
I LOVE deepsea horror and soma fucking nailed it. the last chapters down in the abyss were fucking awesome.
>tfw you insert ur hand into WAU pussy
I-it helps me concentrate I need it.
I'm surprised none of the reviewers I watched describe at a black comedy or at least has moments like that.
Any books with similar themes to SOMA? Robo consciousness, sci fi isolation etc.
gameplay was fine with me, and choices mattered; but to you the player, they're not just some arbitrary condition to unlock a cutscene.
i really, REALLY, hope one of the two games frictional is working on is something like soma i haven't been so deeply and quickly immersed in a game in a good long while.
I doubt it. they were complaining about how it sold poorly. Expect more generic horror stuff for pewdepie
Google Stanislaw Lem. BUT for themes just like in the book - Peter Watts. He's fucking awesome. Both of his books (one in space, second one on the bottom of the ocean) are touching this theme. Also Necromancer. Also "I have no mouth and I must screem" novel (like 5 pages long, worth reading as fuck).
This game caused a fetish for me.
I can't get enough of airlocks, airlock buttons, valves and levers, holy shit.
All interactive objects FEEL SO FUCKING RIGHT.
Pulling the WAU plugs, those shitty led-touch screens, all those omnitool plug-ins.
You could swap the game to take place in a satellite or space station, and the game would be the same with the same level of godly interactive objects.
>Anglerfish
Try Alien Isolation.
This game would be perfect for vr.
it's included in the humble monthly bundle right now fyi
12dollars
>250k copies sold 6 months after release
fucking why. amnesia was very popular, you would think more people would be interested in soma.
if i remember right they released at a bad time without much fanfare
The choices wouldn't have been half as difficult if they continued to affect you after they were made, because at least you would have been able to decide based on what outcome you wanted. Making them change nothing in the long term meant that morality alone was the deciding factor. The whole game is a series of increasingly vicious "who you are in the dark" tests. It can get downright paralyzing sometimes.
Catherine didn't even really react when I killed that guybot instead of the welder bot thing.
This game gives me a feeling of crippling existential terror.
GOTY for me last year. Still cant sleep properly at night because of it though.
there are some nice point and click games that explore similar themes, I liked gemini rue and technobabylon. Resonance is pretty meh though.
