Publishers and the fact that gaming got popular.

>all those early access games on Steam

It's literally just an excuse for the devs to be lazy and work as slow as possible. Name ONE game worth playing that was early access at some point.

>Steam
>DRM
>DLC
>Digital only

Pretty much anything that's a big "Fuck you" to the consumer.

microtranscations

darkest dungeon

I still don't approve of early access, but there are probably a few gems.

darkest dungeon was better in early acces tb h
also subnautica

>discovering the gaming community

>darkest dungeon

reddit has arrived

DirectX.

Rimworld is basically done. But it was for sale in alpha at full price on its own website, and the dev took that year off or whatever. That was lame as shit but he finally came back and released some good updates.

eSports.

ruined multiplayer games.

Explain this right now

>steam shuts down
>no games for you anymore
You're playing on the biggest drm platform in the world.

Action RPG basically killed actual RPG.

You honestly believe that don't you?

>steam shuts down

>steam shuts down
>no games for you anymore

So how come I can play my games through steam with no internet connection then?

...

Thatll be 69.99 plus 14.99 plus 7.99 plus 7.99 plus 7.99

All these

season pass
visual novels
episodic games

Microsoft entering the market

Thats why i buy my games on steam only if theyre multiplayer. The rest i crack and rip. Some have such terrible MP that i just crack them later and remove from steam.

I have a copy of mario bros from 1983. I can still play it 33 years later. Will steam be here in 33 years? Makes you wonder.

so gaming has been shit since 1981?

Maybe it's you who should go home.

Darkest Dungeon is good, user.

Triple A publishers

Look out everyone this guy only plays Indie games. xD

i know that he's ignorant, and that microsoft has brought several positive things to the console industry like online play and built in hard drives.

Voice Acting.

>Open world
>Crafting system
>Survival gameplay
>Level systems and stats in games that don't need them
>Walking simulators
>2deep4u stories in games that come out as pretentious most of the time
>"""""""Nostalgia pandering""""""" either viia pixel art or a game that plays exactly like another old game
>""""""Interactive cutscenes""""""" wich means, you can walk around when somebody talks to you
>Games can't have good story and gameplay anymore, you HAVE to choose one
>Linearity is bad, branching is good no matter what

Face it, everything about DLC, launchers, platforms, thats just normal, i don't mind developers wanting more money as long as the products they sell are good

There is no experimentation with games anymore outside the indie scene, it is what sells sadly so we are bound to get more and more of this

>N64 had a network adapter
>PS2 had network adapter
>PC literally had all of this almost a decade before

it's always been about what sells, people just had better taste in their clones back in the day.

i said console industry, so i'm obviously not talking about PC. even though microsoft made the operating system that literally every PC game ever made is played on. but disregarding that, nothing on any other console at the time remotely compared to the original xbox live, and none of the other consoles had hard drives.

shite
taste

You know what? Is not that hate hate all the elements that i listed, but the developers (I can't tell if it is intentional or unintentional) fail to see what WORKS about these elements, they just feel the need of having to jam them in games that don't really need them

Is not the first time that this happens either. Everyone started copying God Of War and COD when they became popular without actually understanding why they became successful

Of course, we could have a decent argument for once if it wasn't for le reddit man who instead of coming with a rebuttal he just types two words and expects to be right about them

This is bullshit. I just moved into a new play, and we didn't have internet until Thursday night. I tried to play Doom on Wednesday and I got a pop-up saying, "Launch this game in online mode first, then switch to offline." Yeah, real fucking great.

Hardcore games.

The company that's actually uniting gaming and killing the console war is the worst thing to happen to gaming. You're an idiot. Honestly, none of the major console makers have hurt gaming any more than they've helped it. I just wish Sega was still in the business, or Neo Geo.

>steam shut down
>everybody goes to suck microshit's dick

Still gonna wait for flaws to be found in UWP, as to prove it's not better than win32

rimworld, nuclear throne, darkest dungeon

Real-talk here, what's actually wrong with MOBA's?
Yeah sure im not a fan, but i dont see how its "the worst thing to happen", there are plenty of much worse examples, like DLC price gouging, pre-order bonuses and the title of "Indie" being diminished.
Indie games used to good, there are still good ones out there, most people tend to expect some huge AAA quality out of a small $5 game

I thought Nuclear Throne was released?
