Handheld console?

Just started a new job in a big city where I have a 45min train ride. Which console is best for commuting anons?

If you like JRPGs and general Japanese stuff with cute girls, get a Vita. If you like the same 3 franchises Nintendo has been milking for the past 20 years, get a 3DS.

Buy a book.

Is it safe to play games while commuting? I'm always too scared that someone could break or steal my 3DS so I only tried in a train once but never in the subway, which I take everyday for almost 2h a day.

I suppose the 3DS is best for short 30-45 minute pick up and play sessions, vita has a lot of long RPG's that kinda require a lot more time to make any significant progress in them.

It depends on what game you want to play. If you don't know an ordinary DS may be even better, as it has a huge library that should appeal to anyone.

Vita if you're into japan stuff. The whole library is japanese stuff and ports.

3DS if you're gonna hack it, it can emulate any GBA game and older (and 3ds games, duh). The really good games are of course monster hunter and turn based RPGs.

I see your point but I raise you the fact that 3ds' sleep mode fucking blows and the thing can barely stay charged for a couple days in sleep mode while the vita can stay in sleep mode for weeks.

Just letting you know right now, anyone who tells you to get a Vita over a 3DS is baiting.

Confirming this. The 3DS sleep mode is absolute shit. Even my fucking phone and iPad last like a week on standby, but the 3DS shits itself very fast.

For the most part, yeah, it isn't the 80s anymore. If on your usual commute you see more than one person with a smartphone out on an average day than you'll be fine.

...

I can't recommend Vita, until it gets hacked and allows for emulation, until then get a 3DS and hack it.

OP here, not big in to weeb shit. Gonna go with a 3ds and hack it, thanks anons!

People get their smartphones stolen too. I guess I won't try that while commuting but while on a break in college instead, since they tend to be really long sometimes.

>Which console is best for commuting anons?
Vita 2k, better battery life than the 1k and the vita is much more power efficient than the 3DS when it comes to sleep mode power drainage.

>OP here, not big in to weeb shit.

So why buy the 3DS? It's best games are weebshit, fire emblem for example

who cares about the battery life, if he just commutes 90 minutes per day, he can just charge the damn thing before he leaves, the games are a bit more important.

I got those breaks too, but don't you leave at the campus or at least very near it? You could just go home.

Or, you know, get friends.

The vita has over expensive proprietary cards, be wary of that.

Otherwise, look at their libraries and see which ine has what you want. The vita fits into your pocket easier if anything.

And for either one buy a damn case with a grip, it'll hurt your hands otherwise.

If people feel comfortable enough to have their smartphone out, then there probably isn't much of a chance of it being stolen is the point.

>has no argument/evidence to prove me wrong so just posts le epic wojak face
lel

You could try studying.

>Arguing with a Nintendo cuck

I wish console war autism warriors would I suicide.

It's good for when you need to stop playing a game but can't save immediately.

I live very far away from my college so now way I'll go back home and go to college, it would take too much time. I'm talking 4-5h long breaks and I have friends, we could play on the 3DS together since they like games too.

Sometimes I do all my homework and still have a lot of free time after that. I only have shitty schedules.

I love both my vita and 3ds and buy tons of games for them both

Not even a nintendcuck, lol.
I'm an idort.
Vita has absolutely nothing.
Just mediocre yellow Metacritic loli/idol trash made only for pathetic lonely otakus such as yourself.
Not only is the 3DS library more varied but it also has all around more and better games.
The Vita is the laughing stock of vidya platforms this generation, no-one can take it seriously.

if you're a weeb, vita
if you're not a weeb, 3ds

3ds is hackable for piracy and cfw
vita will be soon

But weeb games are the best games on the 3DS.

When would that happen for more than a day?

I have a 3ds but I don't particularly favor either, the vita is next in my buy list, but honestly it seems like people are grasping at straws with the vita lasting weeks and the 3ds only lasting a few days thing.

Ever thought about moving?

a couple, yeah

It's not really that much of an exaggeration, the vita lasts a scary amount of time in sleep mode while running a game.

Look at the games list for both and then decide.

Wait 6 weeks for the NX annoouncement. If it is indeed a handheld you'll probably want that.

I didn't mean it wsa an exaggeration, I'm not doubting what people are saying. What I am saying, however, is that this is not a deal breaker or either is something that will come in hand often at all. If you can't save a game right away and you gotta go, sure, put it on sleep mode. But then why would you leave it that way for a week? Surely that very same day after work or in the next day you can open and properly save the game.

My point is when are you ever going to need to leave your handheld on sleep mode for a whole week? Seems to me like the answer is never.

I'm sure there are arguments to get a vita as opposed to a 3ds that don't make people feel like "Really? I'm never gonna use that".

It's not about just leaving it once in sleep for a week, but multiple times for an even longer amount of time, switching between on/sleep, and charging it less than what you would with a 3DS. Whenever I'm playing something on my N3DS, I do it on battery saving modes and low brightness, and I still always need to recharge it after I'm done, and I never use sleep because it's shit. It's something that appears to be small, but matters quite a bit.

Dead or Alive recommended and Street Fighter in the other? I thought Street Fighter got rated higher by people

Vita is superior for short sessions, fighting games, roguelites, RPGs with lots of grinding, VNs, etc

SF4 isn't so good on 3ds

Is Dead or Alive the best then? Cause it's super cheap on amazon

...

tekken > sf > doa

imo

Thing is I don't know anything about the characters and how they play in any of them, which is something I'd wanna know. Can anyone tell me that?

Thirding this, it's stupid how fast 3DS depletes itself on sleep mode when Vita seems to survive almost forever.

RECOMMEND ME 3ds GAMES

The vita ain't that great, PSP was better. Both get about a week and are next to dead
