It's both, actually. I'm pretty sure it plays a lot differently than the original, but they're keeping as much of the original as possible intact, while adding their own puzzles and bosses or at least changing how the bosses play out.
Windows version, the game is made from scratch basically.
The demo I played was pretty tough, but the graphics are much improved and there's a lot of goodies like a detailed map and info logs you can get.
