Horrible sound quality and weird looking graphics, it had fun gameplay though. Kinda weird it felt more dated than circle of the moon in spite of coming later.

Had some of my favorite music in the series, compositionally. Wish I could hear some of these tracks re-orchestrated.

the main character had huge fuckin boots, like ridiculously huge and it felt like i was playing a clown the whole time

It's ugly in visuals and sound. The world was annoying and felt forced to replicate the feeling of the upside down castle.

However I do love both Juste and Maxim, the spells were interesting and fun to mess with, and the dichotomy in atmosphere between the two castles was very cool.

CoTM was the only good GBA castlemania.

I have a genuine love for this game.

Not that great, but worth playing.
Being able to dodge in either direction was really cool.
Having to fight Death three times because the first two times it glitched and was invincible is not.
And maybe it was just me, but I always felt like I was getting punished for exploring for the first half of the game. Whenever I would try to go some odd direction I would eventually get stonewalled by something I wouldn't be able to pass until well towards the end of the game.
Holy crap the sounds are grating.
Magic system was kind of interesting.
Best part of the game was Simon Boss Rush.

I began playing Circle of the Moon for the first time today. It and the PS2 ones are the only castlevanias I had never played.

CotM is such a weird fucking game. Running happens with double tapping and movement animations are just two frames long. Yet it has great level design, music and good old whipping/sub weapon action in a metroidvania style. Super weird mix of both but still thusfar atleast it has been really enjoyable. I'm dreading the moment when I get bored of double tap running but CotM has been cemented in my mind as a weird little gem already.
