>Isn't that all MGS games though?
No

Because it's MGS2 all over again. It isn't what people wanted, or thought they were getting, so they put all of their misgivings for the game under the "It's LITERALLY unfinished" banner because they either don't like the game's design or just can't cope with the fact that Kojima lied to them.
That, and the fact that it's the newest game in the series. They did the same shit with 4.

MGSV has some of the most abysmal pacing I have ever experienced in a video game.

MGS 4 fags butthurt that Kojima decided to do an actual video game instead of another atrocity like MGS 4. To be fair, the trailers did make it seem like it was going in that direction.

What would've fixed this game then?

the difference being that MGS2 has good gameplay- fuck, even ground zeroes is a masterpiece compared to TPP

youd think they would actually have some interesting missions with all the mechanics and gadgets TPP has over GZ, but GZ actually managed to be not only more varied but also more cohesive and more challenging

MGS2 uses the tiniest things like the leaning controls in a clever way for things like the C4 bridge puzzle- the peak of "metal gear" in TPP is capturing the escaped mother base soldiers and even thats just a variation of your cookie cutter stealth and tranq garbage with a comedic layer on top

literally every mission in TPP boils down to fulton X thing besides maybe metallic archaea and OKB zero/ sahelanthropus

>They did the same shit with 4
People are still whining about MGS4

Because

>MUH ONE HOUR LONG ANIMUUUUUUHHH SCENES

The game is perfect and only stupid redditors hate it.

More character design and less realism

It doesnt have any pacing what so ever. Every important story beat feels like you've just been dropping into the middle of the "scene", and since not BB doesnt say a fucking word it comes off as bizarre 4th wall breaking moment where I'm watching a mute retard watching sociopaths discuss random shit with zero context or build up.

This

>Why do people hate on this game again?

You joostfags are pathetic, if you had any understanding of underlying narrative you would notice that Venom Snake has nothing but disdain for Quiet, she loves him but he doesn't love her back, her dying alone and heart broken was always part of his revenge plan.

Snake slowly manipulated Quiet's feelings of hate for what happened to her into feelings of guilt for doing he stuff she did to him, and then those feelings become love to which he rejects her, just as he planned, making her lonely and depressed and suicidal, when she finally tries to kill herself she fails, and when Snake goes to """save""" Quiet, she is misled to believe that Snake wanted to bring her back to his home, when the only thing he was really there to do was stab her in the back.

Quiet was less than nothing.

She didn't belong anywhere, she wasn't a diamond dog and Snake never cared about her, he certainly never loved her.

No one did.

She was less than friendzoned by Venom.

It will take some time, but they'll come around, OP.

ofuk

No one gave a shit about quite. All thy cared about was her fan made porn

Because it's empty, unfinished, poorly paced game, that does not end anything like it was claimed to do.

And no, all MGS games had a fine story.

This guy is correct.

People will scream about the game being unfinished, but that is just a scapegoat.

People don't hate MGSV because it's unfinished, they hate it because it's not what they wanted. The story, the mission design, Kojima doesn't want to make another MGS, so he tried something different, and fans didn't like what he was selling.

The game is flawed no doubt, but the new design is what people really hate. It's so non-linear that the story is basically nonexistent.

I would have preferred a bullshit story over no story which is exactly what this game was.

Its so boring to play. I went 50 hours and never finished it. I didnt like PW and really didnt like GZ
I knew what to expect but still...

Venom never gave a shit about Quiet. You're correct.

The gameplay is amazing.
I don't really care about the stupid twist or the general lack of story.
The fucking open world is trash, there's nothing in it but a few outposts. They mention pashtuns fighting the russians but you literally never meet any of them, there are no civilians in either angola or afghanistan, there is absolutely no reason not to just use the heli to get everywhere because there is nothing to find in the map.
I loved my time with MGSV but I literally stopped at the start of chapter 2, there was no point continuing when it's just missions i've done before on a higher difficulty, not only is that fucking retarded but it ruins the story progression, why am i suddenly fighting metallic archaea again?

A bunch of dorks on here circle jerking over trailers invented a game that would never exist and then got mad when that's not the game they got.

Or MGS fans dont like grinding out meaningless missions for hours on end.

Do I play with a controller or a kb+m?

So a very typical release for a popular title here on Sup Forums.

>stealth game where all the AI is blind, deaf and retarded
>stealth game where playing total stealth no traces actually leaves you in a worse position than somebody who ran in and did a retard run with tranq & fulton
>sneaking into the same bases over and over again

it's not a well designed game.
the story was fine.

mgsv definitive edition will save Metal Gear

>it's just mgsv with download coupons for ground zeroes, cloaked in silence and some other dlc cosmetics

Hurt me more.

because there wasnt enough Quiet

The game just needs like 2x the gameworld.

shitty open world
only character with personality waz kaz
shitty as fuck second chapter
"did they really fucking do this?" ending
locking progression for game coins
unwanted intrusive features

We didn't get to experience BB's descent into madness like we were promised.

The tag line was "Men become demons" for Christ's sake.

Ordinarily I'd agree with you, but konami saying they want to win back people's trust makes me wonder.

Then again it's konami, so you're probably right.

>men killing for money
>not evil

What were you expecting exactly?
Them starting nuking the whole world?

But MGS 3 remake pachinko or whatever

>Why do people hate on this game again
Because it's 70% of a finished game, the narrative progression is FUCKED, "Battle Gear is in R&D" etc. But yeah mostly because it's unfinished.

BB to turn into an absolute madman with a lust for revenge.

But seriously, I wanted to be a spectator to BB's fall as hero and spiral into decadence as he perpetuates his need to be a solider on the battlefield.

>Because the story is bullshit?
It's not bullshit. It's just shit.

>Why do people hate on this game again?

Because MGSV is literally unfinished.

>What would've fixed this game then?

FUCKING FINISHING THE GAME.

Why do people have a problem understanding this, when it's so obvious when you play it that Chapter 2 is only 50% done?

Chapter 2 is misnamed it should have been titled "epilogue", with "chpater 1" being broken down into chapters itself

It's not perfect, but it's a damn masterpiece.

>The gameplay, controls and engine are flawless, with zero bugs.
>The soundtrack is incredible, including the licensed music that gives the 80s atmosphere.
>The cutscenes have the highest production quality in all of video gaming, with expert camera movement, voice acting and motion capture.
>Storytelling is subtle and meaningful rather than bloated and laughably expositive or riddled with fan service.
>People still hate it because it didn't have a scene of Big Boss killing children and yelling "NOOO" like Darth Vader.

Few games are so good at achieving a certain feeling and mood for the player, and this game just happens to be made to give the feeling of loss, being cheated and deceived, like there has to be more to it because you can't get enough.

It's literally called the Phantom Pain

Oh please, a few extra hours of your time and a small handful of missions is not going to be some fucking revolutionary overhaul for your opinion on the game. Quit parroting shit you read on Sup Forums all day

Never did get to see Venom turn evil. Hell, he was more moral and good than Naked.

You saw Big Boss become a hypocrite and a coward by betraying his fellow soldiers to further his own agenda. He turned his back on his country because it abused soldiers like the Boss then cast them away like dogs, then 20 years later he does the exact same thing to his best friend, and his most loyal supporters.

Why the hell not? Polish up Chapter 3 and the narrative structure so, you know, the game is actually finished. Kiss my ass you ass.

This, Sup Forums is just too stupid to realize this.
Maybe one day people will start to appreciate this game just like what appened to MGS2.

The trailers presented you Snake as a man descending into evil and being so morally questionable that he is labelled a demon. All of this happens in the game, except you don't get it because you are PLAYING AS HIM.
You get to see the truth; you know why Snake kidnaps soldiers and children, why he tortures people at his top secret private military base, why he owns a gigantic Metal Gear, why he executes his own soldiers.
If you look at it from any other perspective, he is a warmonger, torturer, nuclear arms dealer etc. but the truth about people is always different from their reputation, as it is stated many times in the game.

MGS2 was a rushed game, it was still a finished one with a proper structure and ending. It only made you replay sections of the game as challenges if you wanted it to, not as padding to make the game longer.
Gotta love the Sup Forums misinformation department, trying to change reality just a few months after it happens.

Nah, once Miller admitted to working with Cipher at the end of PW, his ass was grass. Big Boss just needed a better reason to get rid of him.

>agreeing with your own posts
kys
According to kojimadrones, everything he shits out is a masterpiece. Even ZoE and Boktai.

>People will scream about the game being unfinished, but that is just a scapegoat.
It's not a scapegoat when the game is absolutely confirmed to be unfinished, to the point of being missing an entire chapter, with leftovers in the game files.

>executes his own soldiers
I don't think putting down VOCAL CORD PARASITES victims who aren't in their right minds and are literally being controlled by the parasites counts.

That's something that only Snake and the Diamond Dogs staff know, the rest of the world doesn't know that he stopped a world-threatening biological weapon, the most they will hear is how he slaughtered his own men, just like how Huey protested against the act during the mission.
It's all about perspective, once people hear about a war-lord who slaughters his own men the thing will spread and be twisted until it's nowhere close to the truth.

the game is flawed

the basic gameplay mechanics feel fluid and feel polished

there are setpieces in the game which are arguably very well done

it is let down by a horrible open world implementation, no third party or civilian faction, lack of interesting enemy patrols, even the bases that become lively and filled with much more and different enemy types during missions, become dull and lifeless in comparison in free roam

radio codec was useless this time round

disjointed missions paced badly- gz did this much better

the story

the absolute jewish clusterfuck involving fobs mb coins and konami

Nailed the part about the open world. The gameplay mechanics are incredibly deep and allow for so much creativity, but the open world lacks that depth so there is hardly anything to apply your equipment and skills on.

The game would have benefited from not being open world. In general it felt like a collection of bad choices.

Here is the objective truth
-Reflex shit ruins any planning or stealth elements, yes you can turn it off but if it's there and makes the game easier I'm going to be lazy and use it, don't let me be lazy
-The missions are all the same shit, which means nothing memorable or exciting ever happens in them
-Open world makes environments all the same and less attention put into them
-One boss fight
-Story doesn't really have any big twists or turns, the parasite shit is never engaging or interesting and the phantom thing is painfully obvious and just comes off as unecassary and dissapointing
-Bring it characters like ocelot and have them do literally nothing, same with liquid and mantis, we never really have a meaningful encounter with them
-Elements are unresolved, ie the robot being stolen, nobody fucking mentions how a clone of big boss is currently the president
-Doesn't tie into MG 1 and 2 very well at all or go to explain why big boss became a fucking physco
-Venom is boring, he never speaks or reacts to anything and literally just stares bored at his biggest enemy while he explains his retarded plan
It's a decent game but a huge dissapoinment to fans basically

>expecting the story to be good after 4 and peace walker
Especially peace walker, what a fucking mess

The only review that matters
youtube.com/watch?v=6_cSywyuEQw

The big twist undermines the events of like 1 game that hardly anyone played

That's not an excuse. You don't see a descent, he's just suddenly a dick out of nowhere. It's dumb

How does it feel to play games on youtube and being human shit in general?
Also what is with youtuber lardbags and getting angry at videogames?

>angry youtube manchild #5749
No.

>less realism

The story is straight out boring, maybe if it didn't come in bits and pieces.
But honestly why I'm mad is because all I got was Peace Walker HD. It's fine in small dosages but why would I boot it up on my PC for that?
Besides the Farcry 2 level empty world with respawning outposts, it is literally the same as Peace Walker, even the story is B-level.
Nothing crazy and stupid and nothing dramatic with huge twists.
Also
>Uninteresting villain
>Stupid twist
>Interesting metal gear as an object, but the story does its best to keep it uninteresting
>no grand infiltration, which is the MGS thing. Only thing that comes close was the oil drilling place or w/e was the first place is Africa. But that's because I did it while raining during the night, unseen.
There were actually people so dissapointed at its mediocrity that it was an actual theory how "This whole game was just a Kojima ruse, the real game is coming soon"

There are no facts, only interpretations.

It's a fine platform/engine, that's it.
They wasted the potential with the story and they definitely wasted the potential with the world.
It was nice in small doses like a peace walker type of a B-game

Man her face did not translate well into the engine.

Like where did her chin go

>the unfinished meme

read this: famitsu.com/news/201602/26099526.html?page=2

OKB Zero can be a damn good challenging infiltration mission when you try to go for all the mission tasks.

But overall I agree. Much of this game is highly underutilized because of its mission structure.

What I don't like in MGS is that there are no cameras anymore and tight corridors. They also give the player literally too many options. What's with missions like in previous MGS where they forced you in unusual situations like removing your equip or going even farther and making you completely naked?

Imagine the hospital sequence but with proper gameplay and no tutorial or scripted shit. Just you and what you take from your enemies.

>It's not unfinished if I call it a meme
It has tons of left overs in the game files. Why do you keep hitting yourself?

>Dodging the actual question with an absurdly subjective answer as to why Ep. 51 isn't in the game

>Pacing issues

>For the first time in this series the characters (except Code Talker in the tapes) are not exposition dumps
Story is told visually instead of verbally ( you see things happen and no one is there to explain what is happening).

>lack of Skull Face boss fight

>every cutscene was spoiled in the trailers

>Open World is useless; Bases are great but everything in between is empty

>A lot of main missions are glorified side quests. You do get more info from them, especially if you listen to all conversations/ scan documents but they're still side quests

>Chapter 2 lacks mission 51. Unlike Huey and Quiet's, Eli's story doesn't have an ending.

>Battle Gear

>Microtransactions

There. This is what's wrong with V.
I still love it though.

>It has tons of left overs in the game files

You do realize that is completely fucking normal?

Cut content is a fucking part of game development, shits gets scrapped literally all the time.

A main fucking character arc doesn't finish

Why would you post an article in which the person dodges the question as a defense against the game being unfinished

>You do realize that is completely fucking normal?
Agreed, but the game itself felt rushed and unfinished and there were a metric fuckton of unused files anyway, moreso than usual.

I would argue Liquid's arc was the main story arc at that point, by the end of chapter 1 he stole Mantis, Sahelanthropus and the vocal cord virus from Skullface which were the three most important things for his plan, so for all intents and porpouses he was the main villain of chapter 2

That's not the problem.
Liquid's arc wasn't finished in MGS2 either.

The problem is that THEY RELEASED A FUCKING VIDEO OF THE FUCKING MISSION INSTEAD OF ADDING SAID MISSION IN THE GAME.

>A main fucking character arc doesn't finish

Yeah, and Liquid escapes with RAY at the end of MGS2 aswell, almost all MGS ends with some threads hanging loose.

He had RAY in MGS4

MGS2 has some weird fucking moments but the problem here is it brings up the issue of how does he go from Eli to Liquid in MGS 1? Where the fuck does Sahelanthropus go? What happens to it? A character arc doesn't finish in a case where there needs to be some conclusion because of how awkwardly placed MGS V is in the series overall story

Yeah, a sequel that was never meant to exist.

But don't worry, I'm sure Konami will somehow manage to scrape together a MGS4-2 and give you all the answers you want.

>Yeah, a sequel that was never meant to exist.
That's entirely besides the point. It exists.

It actually doesn't help his point out at all. In the context of it being written without a sequel in mind that's not excusable.

>spec for stealth the whole game because stealth is fun
>get to mission 45
>mfw

So why did MGSV make Huey into a dickhead?

He's completely different in PW.

i hated it because there were no fucking levels. the entire game is just the same open world shit outpost over and over again with no thought put into design and no variation.
that and snake doesnt fucking talk or emote at all.

/thread

Especially considering all MGS sequels were written without a sequel in mind. Each one of them was supposed to be the last game in the series.

Who the hell thought GRINDING was a good thing to add to a Metal Gear game?

Hideo san, when making Peace Walker

Weren't kojimagirls praising the decision to remove Hayter left and right when that was announced? Claiming how he always sucked, what an amazing idea was to replace 15 years of work with some C-list celebrity and all that?
Where is your Kojima now, mother fuckers?

>Weren't kojimagirls praising the decision to remove Hayter left and right when that was announced?
Most people weren't.

Kojima trying to emulate Monster Hunter with Peace Walker so his boy would play it.

I'm surprised no one is mad at the huge gameplay change you get rewarded for running and gunning and penalized for stealth

One of the main things i hated in the game was the futon system.

Yup you can lift any soldier you want away from the enemies line of sight with the softest limit and practically no one notices them (until later levels but by that point you have the speed upgraded so its no problem).

It makes the game too easy, you can futon prisoners too which makes extracting them the easiest thing in the world.

The worst part is its so integrated into the game that it just ruins the MGS gameplay experience for me.

Do you want me to scoop up a few threads from when V came out? Or we're good?
