>Started Junior year of university >17 credit hours this semester >two labs >30-hour a week job >no days off >up by 7:30AM every morning
I miss video games. I miss my mom.
How do you guys live adult lives and still enjoy video games? Or am I experiencing what yall talk about? Video games being for kids?
This is awful....
Luis Turner
Why do you have a fucking job if you're in university?
Gabriel Hernandez
>Falling for the educational juden
The hell you now inhabit is of your own creation.
Jaxson Fisher
It's an internship. Hopefully once I finish my degree, my company will either hire me full-time or give me connections to other companies in this field and help me out there.
Don't get me wrong - I love it - it's just that free time is non-existent now. It's well-paid for an internship. $550 a month. Doing what I love, too.
But, as mention, I miss video games.
John Sanchez
I'm working 40-50 hour weeks with night classes and can find a little time to game. Being able to live in my own place and support myself is what keeps me going. It's all I really care about now.
Juan Thompson
You'll find free time when you are just working. As long as you don't have kids
Jose Morgan
>Worked 40 hours a week >Finally got old enough to be considered an "adult student" who can get financial help >Dropping down to 32 hours a week so I can fit in 18 credit hours, and still have time to go to the gym >Doing all this on top of raising my bunnies and taking care of my lazy girlfriend
It's okay OP, we're all gonna fucking make it brah
Because some of us don't have everything handed to us by our parents and the piddly amounts of financial aid given to us isn't enough
David Lee
Why the fuck don't you? Do you think jobs are gonna fall in your lap with a degree and no work experience?
Jaxson Hernandez
>tfw finished university without working >during summer got up at 2pm and went to sleep at 5am >education is free in my country so no student loan bullshit >found work related to my field of study without problems
such is life of a STEM major
Levi Anderson
Yeah - I was living on my own from January - July in a one bedroom, but that ended up being about $650 a month, after utilities and rent. Luckily, I met some cool guys at school, and we're sharing a four-bedroom apartment now. It's a much nicer place than my last place, and I only pay about $430 for everything including utilities now. Worked out great. Adjusting to living with roommates, but it's not too bad.
We have very different video game tastes though. I have more of a focus on simple fun and adventures, like Mario and Zelda, RPGs and Adventure games, sometimes action, but these guys are Cawadooty bros and the only time they're not online shooting 13-year-olds, they're in GTAV.
Oh well.
Jack Jones
Leave it to Americucks justify having burger flipping jobs to pay for college. They love wasting money on living alone because "muh independence"
Jack Green
You're in school, cut back your hours to 20 or 25 hours a week. I can't imagine any employers not understanding
Nathaniel Morales
>took an internship in June >they said they'd like to take me part time while I'm in education >said they'll help with my Bachelor and Master theses >30k roubles a month just for going twice a week when uni starts Feels fucking great.
Owen Ortiz
I work 50 hours a week. No school. No kids. No gf. Live alone.
I get to play vidya on my one day off and IDK what to play. I can't make much progress or play story heavy games once per week.
I'm stuck playing shitty overwatch, league, csgo, and sfv.
I've considered killing myself.
Luke Turner
is IT considered part of STEM? or is it its own thing.
Cooper Young
I thought that was what student loans were for, and then you study fulltime.
Nathan Bennett
why my main man? I legit havent played video games in months. when I was working 40 hours a week and taking 12 credit hours I REALLY wasnt playing shit. spent all of my free time sleeping actually, I dont even know why I still come to this board
Christopher Reyes
IT as in network and administration stuff?
Elijah Perez
just know that in a communist society you would not be living that life, user. you would have tons of spare time to do the things you like. but now you are stuck like a stupid asshole working insane hours with literally no time off just to make what 40 years ago was a "minimum livable wage"
Jaxson Harris
Yes lmao.
Xavier Moore
>30 hour weeks >$550 a month >Well paid You're not getting paid shit lol, I make more at my fast food job doing 30 hour weeks

>I miss video games. I miss my mom. Quit being a baby. I'm coming off of 8 months of military IET.

Ian Sanders
Well paid for an internship, I said. Most people with internships I know are not getting paid at all. I get $550 a month, plus credit hours and crucial job experience.
Worth it, in my opinion.
Nathan Powell
I always find it odd when someone claims this generation has it better than ever when you can look back at history and note that a single High School dropout Ford employee being able to support an entire family. I would think the simple implication of people starting decades later to be at the same financial/social situation as past generations would be a huge red flag.
Its also odd just how much resources are spent on keeping older generations that refuse to learn technology relevant rather than training a new generation of talent.
Elijah Watson
Living with your parents so you don't have to suffer through two jobs and 18 credit hours seems rather reasonable to me. Americans always in a rush to get out of the house by 18.
Jonathan Johnson
>$550 a month >30 hours a week >120 hours per month >$4.5 per hour
Holy fuck dude, you consider that being "paid"?
Mason Ramirez
Why you still haven't read Nietzsche and still unable to play violin, user?
Oliver Rivera
I don't wanna be a blogfag, but I'm gonna do it just this once to help you understand the position I'm in
>Busted my ass in high school, straight A's >Mom and dad are fairly middle class who both work full time jobs, so when I fill out my FAFSA I get denied >Even when I get my own job and start paying them rent I still get denied >Finally get enough money to move out and get my own place, living in fucking borderline poverty >Still get denied for my FAFSA because I wasn't 24 yet >Dropped the shit retail job and got a good office job making $15 an hour >Decided it was time to finally get my education >Just turned 25 last week, have been working on getting into school >For the first time my FAFSA got accepted and I got damn near a full ride >Account suddenly gets frozen >Get told I lied on my FAFSA because I claimed my girlfriend as a dependent, and she worked long enough to make at least $4000 so I can't claim her this year >Resubmit, my $27k becomes $18k >This includes loans >Have to pay out of pocket at least $5000 over the course of this until I can resubmit another FAFSA that addresses the fact my girlfriend doesn't work and I'm struggling to keep a roof over our heads >Meanwhile my spoiled rich friends have to whine about "I don't understand why it's so hard, just make your parents pay for you lol"
Levi Green

You have people paying for internships so they might get hired after graduation m8. With today's work environment he is probably happy he is getting paid at all.
Michael Roberts
if I play my cards right I can get my bachelors degree off a GI bill
Leo Foster
>Having gf There's your problem right there. You should get gf after finishing your schooling.
Sorry that you jumped the gun on that m8. But otherwise I feel ya. Waiting out the years to be old enough for some kind of Financial Aid sucks. Had to pay for own schooling for first few years.
Adrian Richardson
Do it. I got mine through being a povertyfag and pell grant + not going to a main campus.
Lincoln Powell
What job did you get to pay rent first?
Jeremiah Bailey
I'm in IT networking in Richmond, VA. And I cant even find an unpaid internship. People literally refuse free labor and my school wont let me graduate without an internship.
Michael Butler
Your lack of reading comprehension is why you will always be stuck working that fast food job, user.
Bentley Cooper
how do ya even meet gfs after schooling is over
Ayden Hall
Damn user, let him get him and walk away, you're gonna break him
Caleb Robinson
not at a bar, for starters.
Cooper Green
Why did you move out of your house? Just so you could qualify for FAFSA? You might as well have stayed at home and taken normal loans.
Ryder Taylor
What a bummer. Over here university is free and we get to take loans so we can move out and pay rent, so no pressure for the parents to pay for anything and it leaves full concentration on studying and then paying it back later when we get a job, it's like delayed rent and it can be paid back really slowly, over 25 years if we so wish. Also for supposedly being a "small government" that shit sounds awfully bereaucratic. You may hate Bernie, but he's not wrong about everything, state programs that actually help the individual and prop up the entire society are pretty great.
Josiah Rodriguez
>live with two middle income parents who both work >"finally get enough money to move out" >get a girlfriend and claim her as dependant
It was a mistake to move out when you weren't ready. Who are you trying to impress?
Cooper Mitchell
I wouldn't work if I was rich
Samuel Carter
This. I don't really understand that.
But buying a flat in my city is crazy expensive, so I wouldn't be able to do that even if I wanted to unless I save up on money for a few years (or become a loan slave to the bank for 5+ years). I'll think about it only when I'll get married or something.
Ian James
It's worth it this upcoming semester when I can use her as a dependent to get more money, though
I'm going pre-med so I still have 4-5 years of med school after this, I'm doing anything and everything to make this as cheap for me as possible
I worked a shitty retail job in the ghetto being screamed at by section 8'ers who wanted to use their food stamps on PS4s while I shared a cheap apartment with a raging fedoralord with guns who was an absolute pain in the ass who snitched on me to the girls I was sleeping with, and pointed a gun in my face when one of them I slept with was a girl he liked. I got the fuck out ASAP after kicking his ass with a restraining order, and now I'm in a tiny apartment on the other side of town
Never gonna have roommates again, and yet here I am with a lazy girlfriend, that's life I guess
Christopher Brown
>be in engineering >95% male ratio Unless you are in Highschool, taking general courses, or in some social science you are fucked in schools anyways.
Nolan Morales
Join a club/organization outside of work. Go to events of your interest/hobbies.
Never get into a serious relationship with a co-worker because if things go sour it will be annoying/awkward for everyone in the room.
Adrian Smith
Almost in the same situation. My few friends from college are disappearing too.
Aiden Moore
society, im 23 and living with my parents to finish my degree and everyday I feel like the biggest loser on the fucking planet. I moved out at 19 or so.
Parker Lee
Do it.
Brayden Flores
Not him but >undergrad was in psychology >like 6-7:1 woman:male ratio >still never got into a relationship I'm unattractive anyway so not like I ever held a chance.
Alexander Nelson
>Never get into a serious relationship with a co-worker because if things go sour it will be annoying/awkward for everyone in the room. While this makes sense it seems like if you don't make those contacts you are fucked from future advancement anyways though. Many people cannot seem to separate professional relationships with beer buddies and will only push the advancement of those they know.
Luis Baker
>be me >doing internship this summer, work 40 hours per week at a boring office >scheduled to work 9 weeks >last week is this week >afterwards get to fuck around for 5 weeks until fall term starts >got paid a decent amount, got some savings for the coming year >did sort of a shit job at the internship and might not get a return offer >still happy to enjoy a break
This feel is complicated lads
On the bright side OP, working 40 hours per week is probably more chill than the hellish schedule you've got going on right now. It'll get better once you've finished with this term, I hope.
Grayson Ward
My parents are a couple of "muh bootstraps" types, they had absolutely zero interest in helping me pay for school because "hurr durr we paid for our own so you can to". They never saved up any kind of a college fund for me, they spoil the shit out of my sisters and give them everything they've ever wanted, and basically made me buy my own food, help pay bills, and pay rent around the time I turned 16 because "the world is hard on men and you should get used to it". I moved out because if I was going to be paying for my own shit, I was going to do it in a place where I could at least do whatever the fuck I wanted without being bitched at about it.
Also, like I said, I didn't start getting approved for anything until AFTER I moved out, and the piddly amounts of money I was making wasn't cutting it to pay for school.
James Mitchell
Video games hardly matter now. Gotta do well at work and find ways to enjoy it to avoid stress. Have to make time for my girlfriend too, because I don't want to be alone and one day when I'm older I would like to play games with my kids.
Priorities change I guess.
Aaron Morales
networking trumps hard work and dedication all day everyday.
>be me, 2 years of experience being a mechanic in the military >honestly didnt do much of anything mechanic related >I know there are civilian mechanics busting their ass every fucking day to learn how to troubleshoot systems >there is a very strong possibility that im getting a 25$ an hour position being a mechanic because im buddy buddy with one of the top doges at this company
Jayden Edwards
I don't really get it. What's wrong with living with parents while you're studying / not getting paid enough to fully support oneself? Is it an American thing?
Lucas Smith
Pretty much, yes.

I dunno m8, I'm American too and still living with the 'rents. Same for other peops I know. But I do know people who also moved out soon as they hit the 18-20 range (my older sisters).
Angel Price
yea, my moms puetro rican and thinks its funny/sad that white soccer moms push their kids out of the house at 18, they usually just end up getting hooked on drugs or falling into some boring rut in society. Why not shelter your kid for a FEW more years so they can get an education and be set up better for life?
Justin Price
This generation is the first in a long time that has a LOWER per capita income than the one before it. Society's changed, dude, and it's no longer considered taboo to live with ones' parents. I'm 20 living with mine and everyone I know in the community college I go to lives with theirs too. It's necessity, user. You have all of probably 60 years to find the money to live on your own; do what you need to do to enjoy your youth.
Ayden Green
They get brainwashed into thinking you have to live a certain way to be considered a normal adult.
Alexander Martin
Desire for independent land ownership goes back to the country's founding and there is a strong desire for that in a more general sense to this day (because very few actually own the land they live on anymore).
The real estate market is so fucking toxic I was waiting for it to crash and burn years before the real estate crash. I am still fucking mad that they bailed out those motherfuckers and are keeping housing prices artificially high. They are once again just pushing the issue off to later generations to deal with.
Connor Jackson
>hurr durr we paid for our own so you can to I fucking love boomers.
Jordan Reed
thats what I figured my main man. But i've had quite a bit of community college-tier first semester STEMfags tell me otherwise.
Aiden Long
>senior year starting in a couple weeks >15 credit hours >gonna be a pain in the ass cause I commute all the way downtown >uni is known for being hard as shit >lose three hours in commute >need to spend hours upon hours studying so I can get the fuck outta this shithole asap >co-op with company in my spare time, afraid I'll get the boot if I can't make it to the office on the regular >despite all this I still find the time to shitpost on Sup Forums I'd be fine if I could afford housing, but this shit is beyond ridiculous. I'd suck cocks if I could live on campus fampai.
Adrian Lee
>mfw my grandparents could buy a house (which has already been paid for thrice over) and a car with his first job and enjoys his retirement going on multiple abroad vacations a year Fucker wasn't even rich. Naturally he also votes for the party which will benefit the retirees. But I guess having a phone with google and music on it makes the world so easy for me
Cameron Baker
Enjoying your autism bux?

Some people have shitty parents or have a shitty home life user. I was pretty much forced to move out because I wasn't getting anything out of living with my parents other than their own bullshit. I'd rather live on my own and not be stressed out because of family matters.
Nolan Lopez
Not our fault your mom was a depressed alcoholic whore who pinnef all her problems on you user, some anons here actually had loving parents
Ethan Watson
This is gonna make me sound like a total faggot but I was blessed with young grandparents. They've only recently hit their seventies while I just turned 25, so they're going to be around for a while still. They love the shit out of me since I'm the only boy in the family (five sisters, six female cousins), so they spoil me a little. Grandpa busted his ass in steel mills after they moved here from Germany, so he's got some fucking bank saved up. He and my grandma have enough money to live off of for the rest of their lives, and they've already told me they have a couple million sectioned off for me when they pass away. They've offered to pay for my school so many times, but I'd rather earn it on my own.
Maybe that makes me stupid, sure, but if there's one thing I learned from my grandparents, it's that hard work pays off in the end. They also have no clue why my mom is such a money-grubbing bitch, because they've told me she's always been such a brat no matter how they tried to punish her. Some people are just born that way, I guess
Colton Reyes
I focus on one main game at a time, and play a few on handheld when I'm not home, and play some multiplayer games with friends from time to time. I usually only spend 30 minutes to an hour a day on my main game, and sometimes I skip days, but it's something.
When I first was out of high school and adapting to adult life, I couldn't get as much enjoyment as I used to out of games, and didn't play them as much as I used to, but now I've gotten into a good rhythm of spending a little bit of time each day when I can playing a little, and then playing some more when I have the time.
Christian Perry
8h work 8h game 8h sleep
that's basically my life.
Thomas Long
US user here still living with my mom at 26. It's not all roses because she's in massive debt to the state and I plan on paying that off for her on top of the rent I already pay, but still, it's a great situation and fuck everyone who says otherwise. Even if I had enough money to move out on my own I probably wouldn't, not unless I could provide for my mom too.
Carter Ortiz
Same situation here, except I made it work.
>poor single mother >she starts making a little more money as I'm about to try for college >FUCKING WHITE MALE, not poor enough, no scholarships for you >k, fuck it, I'm going to make this happen >work full-time the entire way through university, eventually becoming a fast-food manager and balancing that with studies >somehow able to barely scrape by with a hot 2.8 GPA
Fast forward a few years...
>I'm 24 with a cushy office job working less than 40 hours a week, making more than 80% of Americans, drive an Audi, live in a nice house >Now have all this free time and money to spend on video games >Getting a Vive soon because why not
The only financial support I ever got was a fuckton of loans, and I'm paying them back pretty quickly.
The world told me to fuck off, and I said no.
Now I'm playing more video games than I ever have in my life, and I can do it drunk and high all the time.
Adult life fucking sucks until you get successful enough to have free time. Then you can afford video games, and you can enjoy them without the stress of homework, bills, and other shitty life things.
Blake Edwards
I think the best decision I made regarding my education, my finances, and my happiness was to start at community college, living at home. I did two years at a community tech school, enrolled with women in their 40's wanting to be nurses, men in their 50's wanting to be A/C repairmen, and very few other 18-year-olds wanting to pursue a 4-year.
However, I ended up with some outstanding professors, a comparable education to what I'd get if I did my core at a university, and I save a SHITton of money. Seriously. I remember paying $60 a semester for tuition. I also live in the state of Georgia, so the HOPE scholarship helped, but yeah. Paid more for a single textbook than a semester's tuition. AND about 95% of my credits transferred.
To anybody fresh out of High School, please don't think you have to go to a 4-year right off the bat. You don't. Firstly, the "college" experience is NOT all it's cracked up to be. Frat bros and Sorority bitches are some of the worst, most annoying people on earth. Second, the education (in core classes) is rarely any better at a 4-year. AND the money factor? It's just smart.
But, more to the point of this thread, those two years, I was able to soak in the vidya, watch movies to my heart's content, and, even though I lived at home, it was not a bad life. Now I'm working and finishing up my bachelor's, and I kind of miss those days.
Carter Martinez
>It's an internship. Hopefully once I finish my degree, my company will either hire me full-time >hire me full-time
lol, you seriously think that's how internships work?

Get rid of the girl user. She sees you struggling, knowing good and well that she is bringing you down and doesn't give a single fuck. If she loved you she would work to support you while you went to school so that later you guys could raise a family of what not.
Kick her out. Tonight. Give her 24 hours to get her shit. Focus on you and you alone. Set some goals for yourself and stick to them till you see it through. Do it before you get her pregnant and she has a baby as a ransom and your balls in her hands. Don't do this to yourself. One day you will meet someone whovalues you for what you are and will fight your fights with you, not against you. I bet she doesnt even put out regularly.
Nathan Rogers
Yes it worked for me
Leo Jones
You are forgetting transit times sempai. Where I live only the rich can live in the main commercial area so most people have to take long traffic filled transits just to initiate the privilege of working and returning home.
That is generally ignored in the housing issue in general. Transit time is a real quality of life issue and how do they expect the bulk of the population to actively engage in the global economy when they are bound to their housing liabilities?
Jose Russell
This one has expressed interest in it, so here's hoping.
Caleb Torres

You probably did. My mom made like ~21k/year and I always got full Pell.

-1hr getting ready for work/commute to work -.5hr for commute back -1 hr preparing dinner -.5 hr eating dinner -1 hr daily chores (take out trash, clean, laundry, etc.)
so unless you live with your mom you really only should get MAX 4 hours of game time per day
factor in social life? girlfriend? other hobbies? I'm capping like 1 to 2 hours max daily on games. sometimes I don't even play at all if I have to go grocery shopping or something
Dominic Myers
I'm working 10 hours / week for an internship and I am getting 880 a month. You are basically volunteering yourself for slavery. Most internships will pay at least minimum wage now. Unpaid internships is a fucking scam. $4.50 an hour is not "well paid" by any means, don't delude yourself. You are getting fucked.
