Gamepads

Is the 360 pad just the best pad for use on the PC? 100% support, analog triggers, decent durability. One downside seems to be the shitty d-pad.

XBO pad has a fixed d-pad, but the quality is in the toilet. Of every model. Including the brand new one. They're not designed to last.

PS3 and PS4 controllers function well, but they have the segmented d-pad and I've also run into an issue where they lag through the compatibility layer and misfire inputs.

Various third party controllers are out there, but they seem to either lack the d-pad, the analog triggers, or any durability or QA what-so-ever.

This industry needs better designers and a serious spike in QA.

>One downside seems to be the shitty d-pad.
Do not underestimate the poor quality of the 360 d-pad. It's an unforgivable atrocity.

Nobody cares about analog triggers user

Not really. It's perfectly usable for menu selection, and even that is a rarity in games.

Undoubtedly.

HELLO GOLLEN PALACE?

>Here's your H.R. Giger controller bro

ive been using my ps3 controller for pc games for almost a year with no problems. controller is 5? years old and the only issue is the triangle button sticks a tiny bit sometimes. if your not getting doritos dust all over it and abusing the fuck out of it durability isnt a real issue.

>Undoubtedly.
Both the PS4 and Xbone controller are better if you can afford them.

For the PC yes, simply because all you do is plug it in and it will work with almost everything without requiring any fiddling.

Analog triggers are supported by a few games. Particularly racing games, flight games, and Mario Sunshine. They allow you to control things instead of just having them be on or off.

Unfortunately I play a lot of 2d platformers. Might have to just buy a separate pad specifically for them.

I have a Sixaxis pad I picked up second hand. Looked to be in good quality when I got it. Sticks started catching and so I started looking for a new controller to replace it. Debated a DS4, but then I tested something and realized the PS3 pad was fucking up all of my inputs. I really thought I was just shit at games, but using the keyboard I ran into none of the issues I did with the controller.

Press the Chinese button!

Yeah, of course use a actual controller designed for 2d platformers. I tend to use my keyboard because I'm lazy and don't play them that frequently. something like a NES controller is fun and retro tho.

What is Marketing?

im not saying theyre indestructible. i play for maybe 3-4 hours a day and mine has held up. maybe because i got it with a god of war box set, idk.

ps2 controller and converter box is shit and doesnt support anything other than emulators. i just cant deal with the fucking almond buttons on xbox. might pick up ps4 controller and give it a whirl.

For PC pads, DS4 > 360 > XBONE > DS3

Both PS3 controllers I've owned ended up having drift problems with the right analog stick, and I keep putting off buying a third because I just fucking know it's going to happen again

>NIGGA DEY ALL CHINESE!

Gamepads are for children to play their children games

It's mostly ok. D-pad is absolute bullshit - yes, even for "menu selection" or whatever light use you have. It's that poorly designed.

If you have steam, the mode button in the middle is also a giant fucking pain in the ass, since if you slip and press it by accident, it puts steam into big faggot mode.

I liked my PS2-USB better, but too many games use xinput these days, and I get tired of doing the x360ce dance.

>What is Marketing?
Unsure what you're talking about, but I've drifting through XBone fan communities where they'll viciously shut down people, and they're still all bitching about how horrible the XBone controllers are. People are buying the special edition pads only to have them break within 2 months. They're the chintziest fucking things.

Steam Controller is pretty cool if you're into it, and don't mind customizing it for each game.

Been debating this on and off. The ZD-N. Seems semi-decently reviewed, but watching videos the buttons seem disturbingly clicky.

Wtf I press ta shoot
The flesh button
NIGGA DEY ALL FLESH

Apparently they have a new model based on the XBone too. Hmm.

Everybody uses Xinput. Everybody. There's no reason not to own at least one Xbox 360 controller if you're gaming on a PC. An official one, no knockoff or off-brand shit.

For retro games and platformers, you should invest in something else.

>Giger
>Not Cronenberg

Needs more dicks to be Giger.

Every 360 controller I've ever owned has ended up with a broken L3 from shooters.
Plus if you are using the wireless version the effing battery pack digs into your finger.
Also, pads are for girl problems, not gaming

PDP Afterglow Xbox One controller.
The color is adjustable and can be anything on the rainbow, I use this color. Best controller I've had desu.

This is the controller I use for pc when I emulate games and play games that I feel are better with controller (very few mind you).

>PS3 and PS4 controllers function well, but they have the segmented d-pad
Hori makes several with full d-pads. Haven't tried on PC though.
