With all of these Undertale clones out there how come there aren't any based on Genocide? It's the best part of the game desu

There are Undertale clones?
You mean Mother clones?
Because only Sup Forums liked the genocide route, because anons appreciate challenge, gameplay and a feeling of accomplishment.
You should see all the tumblr confession blogs about how it's physically impossible for them to play genocide because killing Papyrus makes them break down into tears.
Know your audience, yo.
>mfw people get that emotional over doing something in Vidya
I mean I can understand getting a bit of a chill after a favorite character dies or feeling kinda bad for doing something evil or something to that effect, but breaking into tears cuz you killed one of the characters? You gotta be a special kind of sensitive for that.
>mfw some guy on tumblr claimed that the fight against Sans gave him PTSD and he called out his professor cause he wouldn't get the prop skeleton out of the classroom.
...
His head pops off and he goes "Gosh, I didn't expect dat!" How is that in anyway distressing?
>anons appreciate challenge, gameplay and a feeling of accomplishment
kek
>believing outlandish tumblr posts
negro grant me the courtesy
This.
...
because he's DEAD and they like him so they want him to LIVE! They basically treat him like he's real.
It's like TTGL fans who get super butthurt that Kamina died instead of understanding either the show's core concept of moving forward or how it's integral to Simon's character arc.
Am I a special kind of sensitive for finding a dog in a game that was sat by its owners dead body sad
People love dogs, seeing a sad dog and being sad about it isn't weird m8
I can understand the rest.
But why did you put loss and the french man on the bottom ?
Idk about loss but the french guy is there because the creator is french.
Nah that's ok. You didn't have a mental breakdown from it. You saw a scene that was meant to invoke somber feelings and that's what you felt. Nothing wrong with it in that context.
>When I first went back to a place I'd already cleared
People tend to like games where you can be bad or good instead of having the illusion of choice and being forced to play the way the developers want you to play
True, but it's still funny because there's people autistic enough to be like this
did you not understand the whole premise of the game? me neither. I mean- I also can't explain it well, but theres many theories including that this whole universe was created through the imagination of the child, and that the batter + the 'mother' or final boss are the child's parents. then it stumbles into a shitcake of headcannons, like if it was a dream or if it was a result of abuse, et cetera.
>Undertale clones
But its all so cartoony and ridiculous. Most people just fade into dust. The tall skeleton guy's head just pops off and he's like "Wow! Whoops!" or something and then poofs into dust.
This is literally below children tier drama. "The Lion King" is aimed at children and Mufasa dying is sadder than anything in the entirety of Undertale.
I almost want to believe Tumblr is all part of one big falseflagging joke.
These posters have good taste.
Also avoid tumblr
What Undertale clones? I'm not aware of a single one.
>anons appreciate challenge, gameplay and a feeling of accomplishment
Bullshit. Any fighting game thread is guys complaining about characters being too strong and other players using unfair tactics.
>triggered by pomegranates
>pls remove pomegranates from your blog because at a glance it looks like gore
this
>and that the batter + the 'mother' or final boss are the child's parents
This was a result of a mistranslation though
Good comic but Undertale's writing doesn't even come close to being as bad as Goblins's
What's worse, Sup Forums? People that get mad at video games (throwing controllers, screaming, ragequitting - even in single player) or people who get emotional about very trivial events during the plot?
>You are now going into the ruins for the first time
>again
Ragers, definitely. Getting overly emotional might be silly, but I can imagine it being fun in its own way and at least those people aren't shitting up online games.
People who get mad at video games are worse.
I'd prefer to hang out with someone who is actually invested in the game and is clearly passionate about it instead of a bitter raging asshole.
I like you
you're the dude who always posts a jojo image in every one of these threads
like that other guy who blames Sup Forums for making him spend 15 dollars on undertale and then spent the rest of his 5 whole months complaining on and off about it on every single thread with the exact same pictures and copypastas specifically attacking this board for being infested with tumblr
you know, I hate these threads, but I keep coming back
Are there any decent fan games yet? I liked the gameplay enough that I'd try something with the same battle system. So far I've only heard of Red, but I haven't tried it myself yet.
speaking of Red
I'm cautiously optimistic for Undertale Yellow since it looks like it's going to paint Flowey in a phenomenal light. Hopefully the music the dev makes for it is decent. Plus the new graphics looks like he's trying a bit harder than Toby did.
Keep your eye on UnderTale Yellow.
It's about the fallen human immediately before Frisk, the Yellow SOUL that embodies Justice.
You presumably also will have a Pacifist, Normal, and Genocide choice of routes. I think the Genocide route of that is going to be you going on a Blind Justice crusade through the Underground, exterminating the monsters for the sake of your own Justice with your cowboy hat and gun.
This is the first or maybe second time I've posted a jojo image in one of these threads
no, no there really isn't
Interesting, looks like they're taking inspiration from imscared's White Face for Flowey, which is what I expected him to be after seeing the Apple II-esque graphics for the first time. I don't see villains with active fourth-wall breaking abilities like these two so I'm glad they're mixing the two.
Also looking through his music for the game I'm not terribly impressed, the music sounds pretty generic. Toby's music had a lot more flair to it. Hopefully he's got some better stuff hidden away.
Oh sweet summer child, You have yet to see the depravity of the human nature
But if you stay here you will
Papyrus is better written than Mufasa desu.
Because the game's written in a certain way that makes the characters really endearing to certain people. They become emotionally invested in seeing these charming characters progress towards a greater end, and they go through the Pacifist route and everything ends in sunshines and rainbows and these characters deserved that end. They've found closure and new beginnings.
...
Then you take that away, and reset all their progress, and furthermore strike them all down without that chance at a happy ending anymore, taking away everything, all the effort you put into getting them to a better place in life. And you do so mercilessly. And they're written to be selfless and heroic to make you feel like an even bigger asshole, because you're doing it just to see what happens, and it hits so hard specifically because they had endeared themselves to you and charmed their way into your heart before. They've likely seen hundreds of comics, read a few fanfictions even, about these characters. Some probably drew art, and wrote stuff.
You came in, took characters with hopes and dreams, that you are so familiar with, and crushed them for curiosity's sake, and they call you out on it.
For folks that got emotionally invested the first time around, you'd best believe that's gonna take some kind of toll on them. Worse is when they're thin-skinned, emotionally fragile folks that spend lots of time in hugboxes and safe spaces, as they so often are in tumblr nowadays.
It's not really like TTGL. Kamina's hopes and dreams were succeeded by Simon, and Kamina died the way he lived, gloriously. He achieved an end. There was proper closure to his story. It was emotional, but not soul crushing. Undertale isn't like that. The characters had their arcs thanks to your intervention, and then achieved closure, and then you ripped that closure from them. And it's your doing alone. It's not your standard sad, bad end - it's like an erosion of YOUR character.
>he's like "Wow! Whoops!"
Last I checked, he's like "It's okay, I still believe in you."
>challenge
Lol
Things like kirby and jrpgs are popular here
>implying jrpgs can't be challenging bullshit
>implying Kirby hasn't on occasion had some really strict 100% requirements, or challenging NG+
>implying Kirby hasn't on occasion had some really strict 100% requirements
it really hasn't. Kirby games are usually the easiest to 100% out of most games.
I remember Amazing Mirror being kind of a pain to 100%.
not even remotely as hard as 100% a JRPG like FFXII
It's a fucking videogame you twit.
Only due to the shitty map if anything.
It's also got a story. With characters.
Besides, I'm just analyzing why people might feel that way. Personally it was kind of heartwrenching but it wasn't, like, bawl my eyes out PTSD level of emotions.
The last game I can remember crying at was probably... Persona 4's bad end. When I was a teenager.
Epic Yarn's later stages were surprisingly tough to get the higher ranks on.
Explorers of Sky for me, I never figured out how that game had such a batshit crazy storyline that was actually written well. Fuck.
>TTGL fans who get super butthurt that Kamina
He was the only fun character.
This. What Undertale clones are there? The only thing I can think of is the RED boss fight fan thing, and that was all it was, a single boss fight.
>Inplying Kittan trying desperately to replace him wasn't a fun concept
You have to choose to do the genocide route and it's not something you're just going to luck into the first time. Even a complete shitter that needs to grind one neutral ending will beat the game before genocide seems like it's a viable option.
You can't do the genocide route and get pissy about it after, every step of the way it's telling you you're a horrible person and need to stop.
I never saw any "challenging bullshit" rpg getting any attention here.
Some Atlus games are hard but that's it.
Devil Survivor, Strange Journey, Persona 3: FES - The Answer...
So yeah basically all Atlus.
Saya no Uta here
I wonder what do major game companies think about undertale
I had forgotten about him. He and the homosexual were also very enjoyable.
"what is undertale"
>mfw everyone thinks that Undertale tries to dissuade you from doing genocide because it's morally wrong when in fact it's because it was unfinished
Challenging =/= time consuming. At worse Kirby games require you do redo things in certain ways or repeat stages, while most JRPGs don't prevent/punish grinding.
Usually you'll find the butthole directly under the tail of any tailed creature desu
I was more pissed at Nia dying personally. That was just typical Gainax trolling
Cool. I hope Undertale will get a bunch of fangames like Yume nikki did.
does spiders have pusspuss?
>spider girl
>literally just a hot bod with arms sticking out of her back
>people actually want to fuck a spider child
why
she's just a baby you sick toddlercon
>child
Loli, maybe. But those monsters are aeons old.
Anyone play super mystery dungeon yet?
Was it as good as explorers of sky/time/darkness?
But they're retarded as fuck, practically sub-child intellect.
what game is that?
>Looks 10
>Is actually 100
If the character acts their age then I don't mind as much but if you have someone who looks like a child and acts like a child then in my mind they ARE a child even if they're older than civilisation itself.
Do you think lolicons get turned off when they find out X is way older than they look? Like "Oh, they're not 14? Then what's the fucking point?"
Loss is potentially an ending spoiler, but that's debatable.
Frenchman I can immediately recognize because I remember one puzzle being about a bunch of french posters and calendars.
says you
I've played the original version.
The most commonly accepted canon is that the child (Hugo I think) is in a coma and OFF's world is his psyche.
According to me : The Queen is based on his mother, the Elsen are based on his father and the Batter is based off the vilain in the child's comic book.
Do you think the creator wanted every element in OFF to have a meaning ? It doesn't really feel like it, it's never explained why Zacharie or Sugar are here.
