Get Elina if you can, I don't remember if you have to unlock the bonus characters, but Diviners are good and rare to come across normally. You'll just have to be careful about how slow she is.

1 star should be manageable blind, 2 star is where you'll probably need decent knowledge of the game and a house bonus or 2 (late game some enemy units can have up to 9999 troop size), and 5 star is prepare your anus mode, better have that Takeda house bonus.

Yeah, and they're wrecking me with their three attacks a turn. My best units are Rance, Senhime and Hara and the unique cavalry commanders can 1-hit even them.

I think in the end it doesn't even matter since it happens only one time. It only plays a role if you want to capture one of their commanders since the one with the stache is the best Strategician in the game.

Attacking Takeda before taking Uesugi and Hojo/Mouri isn't a good idea

It is a good idea if you can beat them before the named commanders join the battle. Which takes 3 turns or something.

Yeah it's the best way to beat Takeda if you aren't going to try and capture them. It requires a decent lineup to do thanks to the cavalry though
