How come the Vita flopped but the PSP didn't?
How come the Vita flopped but the PSP didn't?
the PSP had normie franchises like GTA.
Mario, Zelda and shit like that.
PSP got jailbroken, piracy literally saved PSP
The PSP actually continued to get regular games and support after the first year
Vita had a rough start where they didn't include an sd card with the console. After that, memes about how stupid the vita was came out and lowered customer interest. This degrade in interest caused sony to lower their expectations of it in the west, and game production lowered, which also lowered the possibility of potential buyers.
ps4/pc gets most of the games as well?
who would want to play on a inferior system anyway?
This. I bought like three PSPs just to emulate GBA and NES games and shit when they kept getting damaged, water damaged, etc.
Psp catered to casuals with Pokémon and Zelda games, vita did not.
Same here. NES games and all the PS1 classics on a small console, that I also used for movies while traveling and music player.
Had the 1000 and 2000 models.
I still have more than 60 games on my vita and more than 3000 hours played. The patrician tier of handhelds.
PSP was a considerable leap at the time and was affordable. Piracy and homebrew made it explode.
But perhaps most importantly, it wasn't a hardcore kusoge platform.
PSP was an early multimedia device whose functions have been since replaced by smartphones. That's why the Vita was hit harder than the 3ds by the shift in market, since Sony relied on more than just games to sell.
vita has no games unless you're a massive weeb, not to mention the excessive pricing of the SD cards.
This. Most people couldn't easily watch movies or play music off their phone when psp was released. Also it had a fairly decent game library and an extended lifespan by the jailbreak community.
Psp vita was unadvertised, I think it fell under the same trap as the wiiU where casuals didn't even know it existed or that it was only a mild upgrade from the psp instead of a totally new console. Plus the 3ds killed it in game offerings.
Fuck off retards, mobile phones killed Vita. You thieves delude yourselves to make your crimes seem justified
No, I'm pretty sure the absolutely awful library did.
>with Pokémon and Zelda games
Mobile gaming not being as huge of a presence is definitely a factor as well.
At least it's early exclusives had positive reviews unlike the ones on the PS4
I still don't understand why ps2 games aren't being ported for the vita. I'd probably get one if I could play kingdom hearts, silent hill, ookami, and all that other good stuff.
vita means life
Do you not remember what happened when they ported Silent Hill to the PS3?
This. Everything the psp offered can now be done on a smartphone. GTA and MH might've helped the vita but it'd probably still be in a similar situation. Most people don't care about handhelds anymore and would rather stick to their phone or tablet.
It has a awful library cause all publishers made mobile phone games instead of dedicated handheld games

How come the Vita is still getting a shitload of games?
Holy fuck how can other handhelds compete?
exclusives which aren't shit
ayy
Very well considering the 3ds is way more popular
Memery Cards and Digital Games at the price of physical AAA. Oh and no MH too
They'll be ported to the PS4 like Gravity Rush did
>all this weebshit
I honestly think the overpriced to fuck memory cards helped alot with killing the vita.
I'm having a hard time figuring out which ones are exclusive.
When is Steins Gate Zero coming out? Any news on Shallie plus?
Because no games, and smartphones
they're right you know?
also, i'm playing pirated games right now and downloading some more at the same time, deal with it
granblue and mobage
> 90% weebshit
> 40% multiplats
> maybe a couple decent games, all literally whos
it's time to let go
Then why didn't mobile phones kill the 3DS?
They kinda did, which is why it didn't sell as much as the DS. It wasn't a failure though because Nintendo still has IPs people care about.
dumb question, is it worthwile to buy a cheap PS from amazona nd jailbreak it so I can run psp roms ?
yeah
Nintendo handhelds always do well considering Pokemon is on it. 3ds numbers are still awful compared to the DS. You're delusional if you think handhelds are as relevant as last gen.
meanwhile the 3ds is about to release the worst pokemon game made after releasing the worst monster hunter game ever made.
>after releasing the worst monster hunter game ever made.
They also got the best one, so it's acceptable.
can you elaborate ? is it easy ? what can you actually emualte ? what model is best ?
>PS vita games like Gravity Rush had positive reviews
>It didn't help the console
>PS4 titles like the order 1886 were considered to be a joke
>PS4 is doing well
Are exclusives even that much of a dael anymore?
The Vita would be the best selling console of all time if it didn't have overpriced memory cards AND it had a piracy scene like the 3DS
>They kinda did
No it just hurt its sales. The 3DS is still at the top of the entire industry at the moment. Everyone would love to have the 3DS. Even if it is doing worse than the DS.
>i gotta justify my piracy ;.;
Keep trying bitch, you ain't right about shit
Monster Hunter & Piracy
Handheld consoles have always been for weeb games, fucking underage faggot
The PSP sold itself on being able to play music, movies, and games on a single portable device in 2005. Smartphones weren't huge back then.
It had Monster Hunter, countless PS1 ports, experimental IPs like Patapon, and spinoffs of many popular series. Most of these games were by developers that understood how to properly pace a game for handhelds.
It had third party memory cards for people that didn't want to put up with Sony's bullshit prices.
It became extremely easy to install CFW and pirate games on.
Just give up, man. You can't find anything on Vita that you can't find it better in any other system.
>Smartphones weren't a thing in PSP days and it made for a great portable media device
>PSP is top tier emulation machine
>PSP had much better 1st party support, pretty much every major franchise got at least a good spinoff on the platform
That list is pure weebshit.
When the PSP launched smart phones weren't a thing. The first iPhone wasn't even out yet, and the G1 wasn't powerful enough for gaming in any significant capacity. Phones have pretty much killed handheld gaming and even the 3DS is a huge step down from the DS for popularity.
Handheld gaming hit its peak during the 7th generation and started dying with the 8th generation. 8.5 generation will probably be the last and only because Nintendo stuck it out with the NX.
