>that sword
>a masterpiece

That's a 5/10 at fucking best

:(

What's wrong with it? I gotta say I'm mirin' how understated it is

Calm down there Shiro.

Is that really your favourite? Well, I guess simplicity is one possible aesthetic choice but you can add about as much bling to a sword as you'd like (pic related is the first one that came to my mind, and isn't even as flamboyant as they get) and I'd expect most people to pick something with at least a little more detail to them (like crucible steel/pattern-welded blade or a blade decorated with etchings or something to that effect).

I'll try to think of a sword I personally like in particular.

>fucking sword
Fuck off you edgy 14 year old fuckhole

Barely has any distal taper, really thick cross-section and parallel edges but no fuller at all, stupid point shape. It would handle like a fucking steel bar.
It's a japanese artist trying to make a western sword and it shows.

>no edge
>no fuller, so heavy
>diamond cross-section, so only suitable for thrusting
>point too flat/fine fo thrusting; would snap right off

Out of my way fagits this is a real sword

>i want to be like this
>shit sword
this looks like every sword ever

...

if you like the simplistic aesthetic you cant really go wrong with gladiuses

what a sharp comment

Man at arms is generally shit but Sokka's meteorite sword was cool

THE BEST

You can't get more simplistic aesthetic than a dusack if that's what you want

My favourite

...

>not having the superior modded hilt

That's because it is. It's a Repilca of the sword Trunks uses in DBZ, it's why it's mis-matched.

I'm not baiting though

>no edge
it was shown slicing through things harder than flesh at least, and even though everything else is right I still think it at least looks very great, it really fills my desires for a sword in fiction and since swords are pretty much obsolete in our reality it'd just be really nice to have as a display

...

Mmmm, pizza.

Too bad you can't use a Gladius to stab

that's pretty

>Too bad you can't use a Gladius to stab

This is the problem with liking anything Japanese. You're instantly compared to a fedora trench coat tier neckbeard or a weeaboo, which is basically the same shit

If I'm not completely misinformed here, that's a WWII officers sword. Not sure if that one was called a Tachi or some shit like that. I used to read a bit about these, but forgot most of it.

>Too bad you can't use a Gladius to stab

That's literally the primary technique of the Gladius.

Dumb Kumikoposter

Can someone find the fan made kingdom heart keyblade ?

I searched around for a while but didn't find sword that quite caught my fancy but this is close enough: 19th century slightly curved cavalry cut-and-thrust swords (officer's versions for some light etching and other such decoration, in this picture it appears to have largely eroded away, though). There are some things about it that I don't like (for example, I like the looks of a three-bar hilt better) and it's obviously not in pristine condition but it's a fine-looking sword in my opinion and I can't be bothered to look any longer.

It looks like every generic rpg sword

have this instead

Suppose the etchings and hilt style from this sword were transferred to the first picture and that's what I'd like the best.

Can someone explain to me why the Damascus meme has spread so much?

Why does every faggot suddenly think Damascus is the best steel around?

it's kinda short

I kind of cant stand curved swords that are thin like a twig

Patrician taste

...

>anime poster
>mobile poster
>retarded
Like clockwork.

>the fucking coin bucklers on each shoulder
>ankle funnels
>suspenders and two belts
>random frayed fabric
>another more sensible sword at his hip

every time

If it had a fuller it'd make my dick wet, too. I love sword-looking swords, not enough games have them, too many go for Daedric/God of War edgy type soards.

Now this is a sword I would use on my enemies. I hope the hilt is long enough to grip with two hands, though. I don't like the idea of using a sword with one hand. Less power, less accurate.

I figure people like the longword

it's simple, it did the job

It was long, sharp pointy, had long bevels, could be used as a level, a hammer a really short spear and for the most part was pretty durable and springy + worked when pretty much blunt

Who /saber/ here?

This,
will cut.

The partizan and short spear don't get enough attention in games.

Reporting in.

...

And that's why it's a household name.

Crucible steel/wootz steel was the superior pre-industrial steel (the method it was produced with caused it to have carbon nanotubes and such like, which people at the time obviously didn't know, but it gave it high hardness, toughness and other desirable characteristics nevertheless) in addition to a neat characteristic pattern (similar in appearance to pattern-welding like the technique Japanese swordsmiths used for example, but it's not the same thing).

I don't know if Arabs learned the process of making it or just imported it from India where it was discovered but it's called Damascus steel because Europeans bought it (or swords made from it) in Damascus (in the Middle-Ages, anyway, it was already being imported to Europe during the Antiquity, the Vikings imported it etc - it clearly was a heavily prized commodity to be imported from the other side of the world).

It's a knife, though :^)

indeed they don't

realistically one of the best weapons

clearly meant for cutting sausage

Im Allen Fucking Bishopmen and I approve of this goddamn thread!

Might be because spears are absolue dogshit if you are on your own.

feelio when no games with sexy chinese swords

That's a big knife.

...

>sword thread

its been a while

whys that?

it's got the reach advantage on any 1 on 1

Yes, it's a sword thread and not an armor thread.

Basket swords for gentlemen

damn that's sexy

long hafted weapons like spears and halberds are designed for soldiers in a formation, theyre too unwieldy for dueling

Once you get close to somebody with a spear the guy with a spear is fucked.

A spear has only one method of attack that really works; thrusting forward. If that's parried or blocked, you can grab onto the haft and make the guy holding it your bitch.

If you're in a formation however your mates can cover you when you fuck up

that's a pepper grinder

Not even sure what it's called (and I don't think it's even in the final game) but Tarkus' sword with the square end always got me wet.

youtube.com/watch?v=XJuNgXUi-Bk
youtube.com/watch?v=O8RWLxlzTiM

doesn't seem to unwieldy
also what is with all the hurr im just going to be the haft this maniac is flailing about like it ain't no thing

be serious

OK now that's cool, I really like how the scabbard fits the swords design.

Any games with good Estocs? Souls games give it a really boring moveset.

You might like this.

Shut up nerd

...

>diamond cross-section, so only suitable for thrusting
This fucking moron

>asks for video games with cool swords
>just turns into a /k/ thread

that "spear" he's using doesn't look realistically weighted at all for one. two; an armored opponent isn't going to be very vulnerable to spear cuts, only thrusts. half of the attacks this guy makes on the other are cuts

Yeah, I'm a big fan of the Executioner's Greatsword from DS3. It packs quite a punch and has that same look as the Tarkus blade. Also sports a cool leather-y looking scabbard across the back with a square end.

A little less thicc than I would have liked but whatever.

Pic related is a similar version. Seems like a lot of real-world executioner swords didn't have a pointy end, because there wasn't much of a need for one, I suppose.

It's threads like these that clarify how little Sup Forums knows about well..... anything

It's because jap swords suck.

how can other swords even compete?

>also what is with all the hurr im just going to be the haft this maniac is flailing about like it ain't no thing

>guy in the second video constantly tries to entangle the other guy's spear by closing

It's not that they're unwieldly, it's that once you get too close they have a severe disadvantage

In most of the duels it all came down to who managed to parry the other, not a first blow deal, and a spear just doesn't have as many lethal angles of attack as a sword. You're crazy if you think batting somebody with the side of a spear would have taken them down when they're charging balls out for your ass.

>"heh... these kiddos will never know anything about swords like I do... heh... dumb kids

fuck off

Are there any games that let me wield Joyeuse?

Yeah that sword never actually made it in the game, instead he was equipped with the Greatsword which fills the same exact role but not as cool looking.

Are you going fishing with that fillet knife?

ok then set the scene

what vs what, where

cause if it's suddenly a heavily armored man inexplicably in the middle of nowhere

cause this entire time i was imagining two unarmored assholes fighting in the woods

t. HEMA-fag

...

i think the guy butt rushing the guy with the short spear loses 2-3

german katana

that's a two-handed falchion

I'm thinking of buying a sword
I like one handed ones and I have my eyes on this ones or a rapier
any suggestions?

plebs, please

i think price will have more to do with how happy you are with it

slicing more fun probs than stabbing so no to rapier

:^)

no it's a big knife

tell me about the master sword, who made it? whats it made of?
