Because Nintendo likely wont reveal the NX in a direct. They will need the full force of the media engine so they will likely have a traditional reveal.

An NX Direct would likely happen after and just to elaborate on some things and show off games.

It wouldn't surprise me if the console was announced in September, just to give people an idea of what it is, and allow it to build hype and word of mouth.
