They don't but they've made such noice about it that people think they're relevant in video game customer base / community. And then there's the Sarkeesian type who doesn't play the game but makes a fit if it isn't pandering to her.

I have always loved videogames, and I always will. I hate to see people waste their money and time on trash because you have a right to get what you pay for. This industry is in the shithole now, and we need to be critical about it, or this is all we're ever gonna get. You can acquire a game for nothing, but should you? Should you? Some games make my asshole pucker. They get my panties in a snarl. Games used to be cool, man, and you were cooler for them. There are companies at work who don't value your money, your time, or your intelligence, and think you can be played like a fiddle.

My mother is the same. She used to spend stupid amounts of money on DVD copies of HOGs and Bejeweled clones until I offered to pirate them for her if she stopped buying this overpriced garbage.
