Video games are for entertainment, if the game was left as is from Alpha noone except for the 10-11 autists that shitpost in these threads would play it. It wasn't fun to constantly die and have to farm a new weapon to fight the first boss. Noone wants to pay $60 to get shitted on and ridiculed by a video game. The beta is 100% better, and you all need to get that stick up your ass and just start learning how to ENJOY video games without having them shit on you. No matter what it turns out to be, The Mark of the Conqueror is significant.

Before I say why I need to divide the Souls community into two general groups - Conquerors and Conquered - and quickly define both.

Both have basically been around since Demon's Souls, but the very nature of the Conquered demands that the Conquerors come first. Why? Because Conquerors beat the path and light the way. Afterward, like mold or a rot, the Conquered seep into the community, ever at the heels of the Conquerors.

How is that? Either by a lack of information upon release or due to a self-imposed restriction, the Conqueror goes in blind. Conquerors embrace the challenge From Software has extended with each release in their Souls/Bloodborne Series while the Conquered abhor it. While Conquerors scratched and clawed their way through levels and boss fights, the Conquered poured over FAQs, Strategy Guides, Wiki Articles, Google Search Results, Let's Plays and How to Videos.

Therefore the Conquered subsist by virtue of the illumination spread over From's games by the Conquerors, entirely dependent on it. Overtime they've let themselves forget this, fancying themselves old hands as they bring their borrowed knowledge and tactics to bear on each successive release.

And then here comes f***ing Nioh, reminding the Conquered who they really are. And with little to no documentation in sight they hide behind s***posts so they can cling to that "gud" status they worked so hard to attain. Eventually they'll be back. Once the Conquerors have shown the way, that is.

And that's why The Mark of the Conqueror is significant. No matter how superficial, uselessly cosmetic or quickly outclassed it is, it still says I'm not this guy No, I'm a Conqueror.

397 with agility bonus that is around 20% while in Rags. It's ridiculous, any weapon that bends the rules to have multiple A scaling AND damage stats like the Raikiri will pretty much reign supreme over anything else.

Fucking thank you. I played the alpha but could never get the mark od the conqueror due to how awful the game was. I never even got to Onryuki because zombies by the third shrine would always dodge all my attacks until I went out of breath and then grab me whixh usually instantly killed me. It was so annoying.

I voiced my displeasure about the camera, the lock on, the ui. The breathing and durability but cucks on Sup Forums said I was at fault. When I heard the beta ADDRESSED all those issues I laughed because it meant I was right. This beta has been a blast to play and I'm glad I got to fight Onryuki instead of just being limited to videos. They were so understanding of the mess alpha was they even face us a second change at the conqueror mark. I'm going to buy this game on release now. I'm glad team ninja takes time to listen to players like me rather than catering to a insignificant niche

do you know what scaling status effects are possible?
i've only seen spirit scaling.

Magic is also possible and to the same broken degree as Spirit but I'm not sure which weapons have a fixed drop like Raikiri. I think I seen a DEX scaling but its on projectile weapons only.

played the demo.
It was a shitty Darksouls clone with focus on Katanas and "samurai"
I dropped it pretty fast.

It just wasn't interesting at all. Two really cliche ideas combined, lapped onto a gameplay engine and "grim dark" setting that seemed obviously borrowed from another popular franchise.

Tbh im tired of darksouls as is, and now all these companies releasing their clones of it is extra dull.

I liked the alpha. Beta is better. I see no reason in this discussion as none of the changes with be reverted. Sooner people stop hanging over the alpha the sooner said people will enjoy the game more.

It's third from the top at Sony's conference too, so I'd put money on a release date being announced.

390 with Close Combat +15%, feels good man. I think Sword Ki (or whatever it's called) is really underrated. You can counter and punish in high stance and use it to empty enemy stamina without risk because it's so fast and comes out of block.

Why do you think there's no chance of further changes? No one had any idea just how much they'd change things based on the initial survey's feedback, and there's another survey with the Beta now. I'd rather a well crafted challenge with mechanics that were made in mind with the game than being forced to jury rig some challenge.

Plenty of us(myself included) tried to help worthless pieces of shit DMC babies like lean how to play the alpha, but noooooooooooo typical Sup Forums casual rants instead(wahh this game is stupid, wahhh stamina is stupid, wahhh why is this so hard i keep trying to mash a boss to death like im playing DARK SOULS/SHIT SOULS and i keep running out of stamina and breating heavy and then dying).

previous was an alpha, this was a beta.
there's no chance there will be significant changes, the game is too far in development now.

there wouldn't be massive changes to areas, enemies, graphics, etc... in general at this point, but lot of combat/items aspects, enemy stats, etc... can still see an overhaul, for the most parts it's just juggling with numbers and then testing balance

lot of things were particularly overpowered/cheap in the beta for one, hopefully that'll get sorted so not everyone ends up with the same build

Because they caved in a listened to the majority. They even publicly admitted durability and breathing on ki depletion were mistakes. it would be stupid to revert them now. Not worth the negative publicity IMO. Jury rigging challenges is no different than the souls series so I don't find that an issue desu

I'm actually really curious how many people here have read my guide. I was expecting people to shittalk it at least for not having the basics. Still, you should calm down a bit, you're sounding kinda, you know, like them.
During the Alpha they said that the game was 60-70%, and then they made all of the changes. The same amount can be expected, but the game would not be able to be rebalanced and redesigned to account for either the current changes or any further ones to the core mechanics.
Ninjutsu is still op, as are Onmyoji's support spells. Enemies don't have enough health either so Water Sword (the high stance 2kat) skill can instantly kill bosses. Living Weapons are still too powerful, perhaps even moreso since getting hit out of them doesn't stagger you anymore. I'm forgetting many other things too I'm sure but many of these things were also powerful before in the Alpha.

but that aside, the familiarity scaling was there, I've seen it as well but the effect was weaker and didn't seem to be able to exist at same time as other scaling

It's mostly on talisman it's more of a bonus rather than scaling it can appear on weapons too.
But it's in the same category as other scaling skills so you can't have it if you have another
Raikiri being the only exception since reforging doesn't take inherited skills to account when you dont have it unlocked yet (max familiarity)

I got the familiarity scaling on a raikiri, so I assume it stacks.

Where did they say those were mistakes? I've only seen one interview mentioning durability where they acted as though Familiarity was a replacement when it was clearly going to be in already as we could tell from the Alpha, and another saying they wouldn't lower the difficulty despite the mechanics changes objectively doing that.
This game is very different to the Souls series in how it plays, so such a thing wouldn't work nearly as well. It can work in those games because the game is less focused on it's combat mechanics and has a large amount of weapons each with their small variances along with the way the game presents it's challenges.

I think they should make the old lock-on system an option for players to change to.

in case you didn't notice, things like hammer and axe count as two different weapons but they use the same moveset

katanas have multiple different icons as well counting as different type of swords, but share the same movesets

The problem with that would be that there's no reason for anyone not to pick the option that makes them safer. Both camera views being selectable would be fine, but this is something that goes right to the heart of the combat.
You miss my point. In Nioh regardless of what equipment you're using you always have huge amounts of options, and the game is foremost about using those options to fight through the enemies to explore. Souls combat is simpler and a lot more "one size fits all" as per the game's design, so enemies aren't as specifically designed to counter all your options since it's not as necessary. With how tightly designed Nioh's weapons and combat are, it needs the mechanics and encounter design to match no matter what.
Also when they said that they counted axes and hammers as separate types and included ranged weapons. I've tried to create a distinction between weapon types (katanas and tachis) and weapon classes (katanas and spears), and right now the Beta has 7 melee weapon types spread over 4 classes and 3 ranged weapon classes. Taking the skills page at face value we're likely to get at least one more weapon class, but they could make it scroll sideways so I'm expecting at least 2 or 3.
What you should write down is everything I'm going to write down word for word.
All joking aside though, what's important is that you play through the game as much as you feel you need to to fully understand how it works, and be sure about what you're putting down there. It's good to bring up what you got for discussion though, I'd suggest that instead of completely taking out the rotating Twilight missions, instead ask for them to simply rotate quicker. and/or for different people to get different missions while allowing co-op in the ones you don't have. Twilight missions are really fun in co-op.

The 1 or 2 people that agreed to play with me from here through secret pw shit was a really good time. It was fun tearing up shit and gesturing to each other and racking up damage on enemies.

It could still be a bit better having something to see in the tighter spots. When you're practically against the wall and it's dark, shit gets a bit confusing.

Spiders are going to be fucking hell to fight I bet, especially in mobs.

Only problem I can see with that is it would either have to be something William carries, which would make going back to weapons a bit of a pain. However, an automatic illumination could work, though I guess they'd have to account if it triggers enemies or not.
