>Fewer than 4000 copies in Japanese launch >Absent from top 40 all formats chart in UK launch >Entered in 15th place on UK 3DS format launch >Absent from eShop recent best sellers list
I guess free mouse pads weren't good enough even for Mattel-troid
nintendo bet on manchildren. the only problem is that manchildren NEETs from Sup Forums can't afford games
Adam Davis
One day. One day, they'll pay attention to market trends like Aonuma is doing with Zelda instead of doing whatever the fuck they want without bothering to think about how the fans will react.
Brayden Ortiz
Also, Axiom Verge is 5th place on Wii U eShop recent best sellers.
Take the fucking hint Nintendo.
Angel Butler
This post made no sense. Modern nintendo has absolutely no idea what their fans want. This is the reason why i was so surprised that breath of the wild turned out so good. It's VERY rare nowadays for nintendo to not fuck up.
Logan Gutierrez
This game and its artstyle was made tk please the nips.
Parker Gonzalez
The regrettable part about Color Splash is that they're clearly putting a lot of passion and effort into making that as best they can. The problem is they're following a bad concept with a battle system at odds with what the players want, and a severe lack of character charm and variety the series became renowned for. Did they just look at Sonic, Undertale, FNAF and MLP and think "nah, let's not capitalize on fandoms like that"?
Chase Stewart
Guess this means nobody likes Metroid anymore and totally not because this game is nothing like Metroid at all.
John Long
>less than 4000 copies it is pathetic.
Jose Russell
That's why Nintendo doesn't bother with the Metroid IP. Even the most popular and well received Metroid game only sold 2 million copies.
Mason Gutierrez
>ONLY 2 million copies
wew lad.
Nicholas Bailey
2 million copies may be good for indieshit but they are fucking nothing for an actual main series for a big developer.
Adrian Harris
as long as it means no more primefag shit I'm okay with the series dying. It died the minute shiggy lost his sanity and got a hack western studio to copy halo instead of making a metroid game.
AM2R exists now so nintendo is no longer necessary.
Michael Bailey
And you guys had the gall to mock Bloodborne for selling only 2.5m while Splatoon sold 4m, even calling it "worthless shit"
Cameron Baker
Metroid isn't a main series though.
Either way, how much could a 2D metroidvania cost to produce?
Bloodborne selling 2.5 million is bad when you consider how the PS4 only really has like seven exclusives.
Julian Gutierrez
*3 million
Nathaniel Davis
And do you think people bought a PS4 for exclusives? Of course, given how the concept of "multiplat" is something alien to Nintendrones.
Samuel Peterson
Why would you buy a console for games that you could play on a PC?
It's not even that expensive to build provided you know what you're doing.
Parker Gomez
Because the average console user doesn't care about PC. He/she just wants to buy the platform where he can play Fifa, COD and GTA.
PC gaming is niche. It was niche 20 years ago, it's niche now. When will Sup Forums understand that?
Luke Fisher
A shame, too, because this game is a lot of fun. Probably helps that I've been playing with my roomate, but we've been having a fucking blast.
Brayden Phillips
How can it be niche when you have modern games being ported to it though?
Benjamin Diaz
newsflash, most people like playing with their friends, and guess what, the PS4 is the most popular system
Easton Martin
>but we've been having a fucking blast. Would you say you've been having a ball?
Brayden Price
I am so glad this piece of shit bombed. Hopefully Nintendo learns something from it.
Carson White
Nintendo's translation: i guess people don't care about Metroid anymore
Ian Mitchell
Other M did a lot better than Federation Force.
Landon Ross
Okay, there's millions of active users on steam and you can play online for free.
Also, the PS4 is the most popular system because it spent its marketing going "hey guys, we aren't the xbone" back when gamers thought that the xbone was the devil.
Elijah Hall
what? how is this game aimed at manchildren if you said nintendrones, it would have made more sense
Jacob Morales
Know the sad part? Federation Force isn't as bad as people say. It is decent, But Nintendo promoted it poorly.
James Brown
When has this actually happened?
Luis Flores
F.F. is the latest in a long line of games that would've been okay, if they were their own independent game.
Justin Martin
...
Noah Rogers
This was all part of their keikaku, now they have a excuse to not work on the Metroid series anymore.
Hudson Brooks
Good. Let Samus rest in peace. At this point I'd rather never see another Metroid game than have Nintendo continue desecrating the franchise.
Wyatt Bennett
command and conquer franchise
Sebastian Morris
I meant with Nintendo, but that works too. Was it Red Alert 3?
Hudson Harris
No, there were games after that. That play nothing like command and conquer and so thereforce they said "well obviously no one wants a new cnc game."
Wyatt Baker
Congratulations, "Fans", you killed another franchise.
Parker Ramirez
>a metroidvania beats a 3DS game without breaking a sweat it is humiliating but not surprising.
Aaron Gray
No red alert 3 is fine if just not as good as it should've been. The problem with red alert 3 was it was directly competing with tiberium wars because EA is fucking stupid. Cnc 4 was nothing like an rts and was the "epic conclusion to the saga" but doesn't play like command and conquer. Then there's that shitty mmo rts they were making that was terrible and they threw a tantrum during the beta saying "well fine, if you think it's buggy then there's no game anymore!!"
Nolan Lewis
>Congratulations, Nintendo, you killed another franchise.
FTFY
Colton Ortiz
This. Metroid fans had nothing to do with it. By the way, it takes effort to kill off a franchise, yet, nintendo managed it.
Camden Thompson
>a metroidvania Pls kys, I hate faggots that misuse terms because they don't fucking know what they mean or how they originated
Charles Bell
>Fans should buy everything that carries a series' logo, even if it is a rotting turd >if they don't they are killing a franchise Fuck off shill, kys
Nolan Anderson
Sup Forums is full of retards confirmed.
Fans also killed Mega Man with the help of Inafune.
No, but the main problem is that fan reaction went down the shitter way too often. Specially because AM2R and DMCA.
Federation Force was worked on for years before the Metroid 2 remake came out, fans would have loved to have two great Metroid games. That's why they're, you know, fans.
Camden Reyes
Exactly how absent from reality are you? To 99% of people buying multiplats on console or just consoles in general a PC is a pre-made computer by Dell, HP, or Alienware that requires thousands of dollars of investment and hours of time to build for it to be decent. Even if you dispel that viewpoint, these people do not want to have to look at parts, look at compatibility lists, find the proper parts at the cheapest price, and then they have to build the thing which they don't understand is actually Legos but instead they think it's actual knowledge that computer engineers have. Even if you give them a site that does it for them they'll think it's too expensive and thinkt he cheaper stuff won't play anything.
They will go for the expensive options since they think future proofing is an actual thing, and even if you go for a $500-600 machine that shit is going to be obsolete in about four or so years due to how quickly technology on PC advances, how little people give a shit about optimization, and you'll be forced to play at disgustingly low resolutions and settings after being used to the good stuff for those years. They also don't want to have to deal with the crashes, bugs, and setup to actually get the stuff running.
What you don't seem to understand is that the general population has tunnel vision. No one gives a shit about framerate unless it's horrendously low or it's on a competitor's machine, no one gives a shit about resolution, LoDs, or texture quality unless it's on a competitor's machine, and no one gives a shit about having the freedom to mod or edit the game to your liking. Most people want to just set it and forget it, they want to buy a game and play it, maybe with their friends.
These people would have to convince all their friends to jump ship to the PC and do exactly all the things I just said from that viewpoint and convince them to stay with that platform. Multiplats are the main course with exclusives being a side dish.
Aiden Green
>Fans also killed Mega Man with the help of Inafune.
How?
Adrian Hall
I would never say something so rude
Tyler Parker
...
Julian Young
If I remembered correctly, the creator quit developing the megaman online for whatever reasons. That online game could have been megaman's revival, but he decided to give up.
Robert Gonzalez
>steam >tags suggested by retards like you Not my fault if the gaming community went to shit years ago.
Jeremiah Rogers
Well, you clearly would rather just pretend everyone in the world thinks PCs are viable gaming platforms that everyone should be buying when in reality it's a small niche that actually has gaming capable computers and most people just have shit premades that barely run League of Legends or Minecraft relaibly.
Wyatt Richardson
The problem is that they made a game that heavily banks on multiplayer experience so they expected you and three people you know IRL to get together and purchase this shitty sequel just so you can have a complete gaming experience. What a fucking flawed game design.
Aaron Allen
>if you said nintendrones, it would have made more sense
Judging by the sales even nintendrones didn't want it.
Ethan Cruz
Poor reaction to TWO cancelations, believing that a third cancellation happened when info on it was leaked FOUR YEARS after it, poor reaction to a mobile game that was a HUGE SUCCESS in Japan (and some people hacked their data only to be able to download it here in the west), poor reaction to when Capcom stamped a FAN GAME with fucking approval, poor reaction when whoever was developing and maintaining Rockman Online cancelled the game (Capcom only gave them permission to develop and maintain it, they didn't say "now you have to stop". They stopped because they felt like it) and lastly: The "fans" fell for Inafune's bait, and almost fell a SECOND TIME with Red Ash.
Hunter Cook
Pretty sure capcom killed that game off at around the same time as MML3.
Which still comes down to the company being at fault for the series dying.
Anthony Garcia
>they expected you and three people you know IRL to get together and purchase this shitty sequel They didn't, there's online with randoms.
Lucas Peterson
Considering all the AAA games being ported to PC, I think it's safe to say that PC is a viable gaming platform now.
Also, how is someone playing LoL any worse than someone playing FIFA or CoD?
Luke Gonzalez
Capcom had no hand in Rockman Online. The company developing and hosting it only received permission and eventually gave up on their own.
Nolan Allen
So because Capcom was being shit, cancelled two high profile projects (one of which had community involvement and a huge social media following) and then proceeded to released a shitty ios game that nobody asked for, it means that the fans are responsible for Megaman biting the dust?
How about Capcom actually give us a good Megaman game rather than shitty cameos and half-assed ports?
Carter Cook
Wait, the game's out now? Goddamn guess that means I have to go buy it soon.
Mason Clark
What if I told you Inafune timebombed them? His successor was in charge of continuing it, and coincidences: The two games got cancelled, Inafune kickstarted two games similar to the ones cancelled.
WHAT A HUUUUUUUUUGE COINCIDENCE! ... NOT!
Asher Butler
>I think it's safe to say that PC is a viable gaming platform now. They've always been ported, that doesn't mean they see an insane amount of sales that consoles bring. It's viable enough to sell on it, but they're not making crazy amounts of money. 500k to 1mil on PC is usually a huge milestone for crying out loud when on consoles that's pretty much run-of-the-mill.
Normal people just do not buy PCs to play games, and the people who do already know what they're getting into, how much stuff costs, and what they're going to get out of it. Look at Terry Crews as an example. He has the money so he got the expensive stuff, fine, but he still had to get Geek Squad of all things to build it for him, and he had to get an acquaintance of his to get him the parts all set up, and he was super into building it himself.
>Also, how is someone playing LoL any worse than someone playing FIFA or CoD? You misread, I'm saying the average joe has a computer that can barely play LoL or Minecraft properly, and that's when they buy a brand new prebuilt one. They pay $500-600 and come to acquaint that with spending a shit ton of money to get anything out of PC gaming. You're not going to convince these people it's cheap or better to play on PC with all the shit you need to do to get stuff running reliably on the level of a console.
Zachary Barnes
I suggested don't buy it. It will likely be a waste of money. Hell, even taking time watching the footage is a waste of time.
Ryder Lopez
I still don't see how that's the fans fault.
It's not like Capcom was really giving us a flood of megaman games by the time MN9 was first kickstarted.
Cameron Foster
In their defense, Capcom didn't want to turn Mega Man into a Cash Cow.
Jaxon Hill
We should all just realize Nintendo has their new, safe demo in the palms of their hands and that we don't matter to them anymore. They can afford to discard us now. And getting angry is just free publicity so that more people will keep the cycle going. How do we move on?
should I buy axiom verge or is it not good?
Hudson Allen
It's very good, you'll get a really nice sense of exploration, mystery and isolation from it. It's got much more emphasis on carefully navigating the environments and your approach on attacking enemies, you cannot take many hits early on at all.
Nathan Rivera
I'm having a lot of fun with this game, it's pretty solid.
In some years this will be considered as an underrated classic, which sucks because by then it would be too late.
Liam Foster
No, you dumbass, it plays exactly like a Metroid Prime game. I don't know where does this dumbass idea that "it has nothing to do with Metroid" comes.
Play the damn game, would you?
Hudson Thompson
>Federation Force >desecrating
A solid game is now desecrating. No wonder the Metroid fanbase is fucking shit, bunch of manchildren.
Noah Ward
>not buying a solid, fun game >LOL NINTENDO KILLED IT
Hudson Smith
>fans would have loved to have two great Metroid games. That's a blatant lie, because they were whining even when both Metroid 2 remake and Federation Force are good games.
Connor Smith
They dont realize that metroid fans either want a classic metroid game or a metroid prime like game.
Aaron Cox
except feddieshit is neither solid nor fun. more like laggy and sluggish.
Blake Morgan
Excellent
Easton Fisher
It's terrible as a Metroid game as its own standalone title that's divorced from the metroid series, I think it'd be an all around okay game, albeit mediocre in comparison to other co-op shooters.
I mean, the main reason why people loved Metroid was the exploration, which this game just doesn't have.
Andrew Watson
>laggy >sluggish yeah ok, why don't you at least try to play it before outright lying to try and justify your hate?
The game is extremely solid when playing online. No lag and only one disconnection even with my third world country internet.
You're just a whiner.
Nathan Jones
F.F. isn't solid, in fact, it outright blows if you're playing by yourself or with randoms online.
And I'm not going to give it brownie points because me and my friends had fun together since any game can be fun if you have friends playing with you, even a linear pile of shit like this game.
Jacob Kelly
>In some years this will be considered as an underrated classic how delusional
Dominic Murphy
>It's terrible as a Metroid game >it's a good game, but it's a bad X game Fuck out of here with that shitty logic. From day one we knew it was going to be a spin-off so that they could explore other ideas, like the Lore which, for your information, there are fans of the Metroid lore.
That's like saying that fucking Halo Wars is a shit game because "it's not a Halo game, so it's shit."
Jaxon Morris
>yeah ok, why don't you at least try to play it before outright lying to try and justify your hate?
Oh, it couldn't be because I've played it and encountered nothing but AFK's and shitty lag, it must be because I'm a fanboy or something.
Fucking nintoddlers I swear, can't even criticize shitty games without them accusing you of some shit or another.
Colton Morris
>it outright blows if you're playing by yourself or with randoms online. >my experience is universal. Except that the very few threads I see of people not whining about this game and, you know, actually playing it and people talking about the game say that it is solid while paying on-line.
>me and my friends had fun together since any game can be fun if you have friends playing with you, >muy borderlands 2 logic Why do I even try. You just choose to believe things beforehand and convince yourself that it is shit. You're just an emotional vagina.
Colton Turner
>Muh nintoddler boggeyman Keep outright lying, asshole, or get a better internet connection and stop whining.
Austin Moore
If it was called "blast balls w/ monster hunting," it would've been more widely received since there wouldn't be any expectations going in.
But since it's claiming to be a Metroid game, especially one built into the same universe as the Prime games, it means that everyone went in expecting the same level of polish and depth as we've seen in previous entries.
You can call it a spinoff all you want but at the end of the day, it's not going to stop people from comparing it to Other M, Super Metroid, or the Prime Trilogy in terms of quality and this game just doesn't stack up to the best the series had to offer.
Caleb Rivera
Metroid fans are privileged because the "Metroid" genre gets new games every year, even if those games don't have the word Metroid in the title. Truly one of the worst fanbases.
Juan Turner
I can poitn to multiple occassions where I got stuck with an AFK who did nothing but stand around with a finger up his butt until I was forced to disconnect because nobody could make any progress.
Can you honestly even call it good online when it stutters on the best of connections and you can't even kick people who actively make the game worse?
Jack Davis
it isnt even online lag, i diot. its the horrible framerate and ridiculously slow movement speed. keep sucking the big n's cock though.
Aiden Cook
In those same threads, I've seen people complaining because of stupid shit like having to shoot balls into holes (which takes forever in SP) and people going AFK for no reason.
The irony of claiming that I'm using my experience as universal when your whole argument is "I had fun with people on Sup Forums so it means it's great, fuck you."
Ayden Stewart
For all the comparisons to Mega Man, Capcom went well and truly out of their way to shit on the franchise and its fans after the whole Legends 3 fiasco. Anyone screaming about how Nintendo hates its fans should look at that example and realize how good they actually have it at the moment. At least Nintendo still acknowledges Samus, while Capcom is too busy with the fight moneyz to give a single shit about Mega Man.
Jeremiah Myers
that doesn't even make sense.
Nintendo bet on children alone with a focused demographic getting younger and younger every few years. If they cared about the audience that grew up with Nintendo 20 years ago, they'd be pumpin' out quality Zeldas and Metroids and Fzeros every couple of years as primary core titles - and remakes would be carefully remade instead of replacing iconic and memorable aspects of the originals with considerably less impressive shitbrained stuff.
They did it right with Super Mario All-Stars, yet nowadays they just toss their valuable franchises out to third-party studios that haven't accomplished much. If that means Nintendo ought to be doing the remakes themselves then maybe they should. If its a matter of having to choose whether to spend a development cycle remaking an old game or making a new game, then maybe Nintendo should be hiring more people internally under their own quality control standards. The company has more than enough money to afford a much larger development staff across multiple teams.
Alexander Campbell
megaman IS a cashcow!
Austin White
>and Fzeros every couple of years as primary core titles News flash: the F-Zero fanbase was never nearly big enough to justify continuining the series, let alone "pumping one out every couple of years". And I say this as someone who bought almost all of them.
Jaxson Fisher
Capcom is halfway to being bankrupt. The only franchises they internally develop anymore are Monster Hunter, Dragon's Dogma and Resident Evil with next to no communication between the teams that make each one. They've been sitting on a "next gen" game probably well on it's way to being cancelled or lost in dev hell to boot.
fight money or not, they're one or two poorly-selling games away from shutting their doors or getting acquired by a larger company or merging.
They should care about megaman, sure - but they probably cant afford it without dividing attention away from their other games.
Alexander Long
the main problem is they sabotaged the biggest 3rd party releases by censorship, hoping they will make a bank with traditional nintendo series like starfox, metroid and zelda, and two of them flopped so far
NX is pretty much do or die for nintendo
Levi Morales
there isnt going to be a dd2
Jaxon Barnes
You can say that, but F-zero at least has legacy selling-power behind it. Nintendo is still making pikmin games despite them selling extremely poorly compared to any other game franchise Nintendo owns. You'd find more F-zero fans than Pikmin fans. But none of this even addresses that I'd said "quality" games. Metroid and Zelda have suffered some serious disregard for the 3DS and Breath of the Wild on Wii U doesn't look too hot or like its even near completion let alone far along into development.
Nintendo's been playing the market like they either don't care as much as they once did in the 80's-00's, or they're accomplishing much much less than their 4000 employees would lead anyone to think there should be far more Nintendo games far more frequently than there have been.
Parker Reyes
Oh, I understand that. Capcom made some incredibly poor decisions while riding high on the popularity of SF4 and now they're paying for it. One of their biggest mistakes was ending the EXE/Battle Network series so early into its lifespan -- they could have milked a few more years out of it at least, and Starforce ended up driving people away.
That said, the point was that if people wanted an example of a company telling its fans to fuck off, Mega Man is what they should be looking at. Is Federation Force a shitty game? Of course it is. But fans acting like Nintendo has made the gravest of offenses and that they're shitting on the franchise and its fans because of one single spin-off is just incredibly laughable to me.
