>watching cutscenes in video games
>not skipping them at every chance and when they can't be skipped, doing something else
Why in the world did cutscenes get popular? If I wanted to go watch a movie, I'd rent a dvd, go to the store, rev up netflix, anything by play a game. You can convey a story through text usage and gameplay perfectly fine. It's some of the most retarded shit in games.
Watching cutscenes in video games
I guess they were cool in the 90s with the FMVs, it was pretty neat progressing in a game and getting a flashy cutscene as a reward. Now they don't look much better than the actual game so it's not as fun and sometimes they're really overused
>You can convey a story through text usage and gameplay perfectly fine
what the fuck are you seriously defending "After a long and very profitable winter, Django and Schultz headed towards....."
If you skip the cut scenes you miss the story.
>tfw you hold the team back while watching the cutscenes in MMO
Come at me.
Why the hell did they ever include internet browsers on cell phones. After all, if I wanted to surf the Internet I would go to a PC.
Same answer to both, because they fucking can, you idiot.
>accidentally skip cutscene
>can't go back
Things every cutscene should include
-notification that you can pause it
-replay
Robin is so cute
I want to have sex with her
There's Pong
and then there's MGS4
>If you skip the cut scenes you miss the story.
yes, and?
I never have had a problem at all with any game because it has too many cutscenes, nor with games that are all story without much real gameplay besides walking and examining things. This is because I've stopped thinking so rigidly about what a game must be, because all of that is just entertainment media to me. A compelling story is easily the most important thing to me in a book or movie, so I don't see why it shouldn't be the most important part of a game too.
Because children with zero coordination bought PS1
I don't mind cutscenes if they help explain things and provide context, especially if they're well put together. Then again, you could also have games like Kid Icarus: Uprising, where Sakurai explicitly made it a point to minimize cutscenes and explain as much as possible in the middle of gameplay. As far as he saw it, if you're sitting watching a cutscene, you're not playing, and that defeats the purpose.
Normalfag. Also as a normalfag myself I tend to gravitate towards a good story than to good gameplay, because it is easier to entertain with a good story than with good gameplay.
As a smartfag I play video games for good gameplay and read books for good stories.
I do so as well but videogames have a unique way of delivering a story, just like reading a book is different from watching a movie, the only problem is that most games tend to suck into how they merge storytelling into their medium when compared into how movies developed their own way to tell a story in ways books can't (though Movies had almost 100 years to perfect that while games are still on its growing pains just like movies where during the silence era where there was a social stigma against it and the medium in general)
Dude Metal Gear is so difficult to play for that reason. Up until 4 you couldn't pause the cutscenes, and that shit has some long scenes. I remember MGS2 in particular being most annoying without pausable cutscenes and PW being the least annoying.
>skip cutscene
>what the fuck what am i supposed to do this game is shit
my brother every single time he touches a game. it's infuriating
>skipping cutscenes
>watching one piece
Shit taste, shit thread.
>skip cutscene
>WOW WHO IS THIS WHAT'S GOING ON HAHAHA WHAT A BAD GAME
>Cutscenes have been unimportant up to this point
>Skip next one, lost with no indication of where to go
>Mission log only gives no clue, Current mission unlisted for now
>text usage
Nigger if I wanted to read I'd get a book, rev up the kindle, look at the ingredients in my year old hummus, anything but play a game. You can convey a story without making me stop playing to read some shit. It's the most faggoty OP in Sup Forums
>Game has really long cutscenes
>Watch all of it
>Still no idea what the fuck I'm supposed to be doing
>No map
As much fun as battle network is the game flow was really infuriating
>game doesn't allow you to pause, skip AND replay cutscenes at will
>2016
Seriously, no excuses for this bullshit.
