WEW LAD, color me surprised.
Not really shocking when everyone decided to hate it as soon as it was announced.
Good
Now maybe Nintendo will make an actual Metroid game or let the series die peacefully
What a shocker.
Metroid games selling well.
sold less tha 4.4k in japan. splatoon sold more in the week it was released
>Nobody bought FedForce, so that means Metroid fans dont want anymore games!
Nintendo logic while aggressively DMCA'ing AM2R which received nothing but high praise from everyone who got their hands on it.
At least we got to finally have a true new Metroid game with AM2R (it's different enough from 2 I'd count it as new)
Well, it's not like Ass to mouth 2 :Royale plunged them from the depths.
The funny thing is Metroid fans think they accomplished something but even if it was a traditional Metroid game it would still sell the same amount.
It honestly doesn't look that bad, but it coming out instead of a mainline game was an insult.
No it wouldn't

I feel like Nintendo is too stupid to cancel games and still thinks it will be a success based off the "Metroid" name alone when the only people who care about that title are the ones who are going to hate the shit out of it, unlike Mario or Pokemon where everyone knows what it is and casuals might still get it.
Sleeping Dogs fans hated the shit out of Triad Wars and they were smart enough to just axe it. Nintendo used to give lessons, but now they need to take some.
It baffles me that how Nintendo seems incapable of understanding what people actually like in their franchises. Sure, the biggest mainline series are usually fine, but the "cult classic" section gets treated like no-one has any idea about what to do: just look at Metroid, Paper Mario and Star Fox.
>A big budget Metroid game absolutely no one wanted was a major flop
Honest and for truly, I wouldn't hate this game as much as I did if they'd just put up a picture titled "Prime Project", with "More Info Coming..." at the bottom. If they'd put that up then I honestly think that people wouldn't have reacted the way that they did.
Just show your ardent fans that you're working on something they really want and they'll buy something to tide them over.
Oh well, guess this means let's Prime and more Metroid. They should have just released Metroid 5 instead of making us wait for the NX Platform.
oh wow baby robot soccer performed exactly like everyone said it would. Guess that means no one wants a metroid game t. nintenod
>Let's just make a home console with a screen on the controller and never make the one game that would actually make the best use of it for it.
so now the Nips can go back to saying nobody likes Metroid
*less
this surprises who?
Wow holy fuck who would have guessed this would have happened I'm so shocked
Good, maybe now they'll just kill off Metroid.
As good of a series as it was the fanbase is complete cancer.
if it's between this and nothing I'd rather nothing. let paper Mario die while we're at it too.
>its developers are pure cancer
ftfy
>"Do not make this game, we won't buy it, it's going to flop."
>Make it anyways
STOCKHOLDERS ARE GONNA FREAK
"WELL SHIT," exclaims a group of old Japanese businessmen as they throw up their hands in frustration. "Guess people just aren't interested in Metroid anymore. Shelve the franchise indefinitely except for Smash and the occasional cameo in Mii minigames."
No, the fanbase.
The developers can do whatever they want, and the fanbase can do whatever they want, but the fanbase is the ones acting like spoiled little children when what the developers want to do doesn't line up with what they want.
I'd rather that than another Other M
>Well I guess this means the players aren't interested in another metroid title
>Sakamoto Metroid
Cringy melodrama anime trash
>Tanabe Metroid
Lame Star Wars wannabe where Sylux is the be all end all puzzle piece to the universe
yeah this franchise is fucked
>No, it's the fans who are wrong!
Yes, the fanbase is a giant gaggle of faggots.
I know, I'm sick of the toxic pro-consumer attitude most people have.
Wow, it's just like every other fanbase out there.
Making something the fanbase doesn't want isn't anti-consumer you stupid fuck.
everyone who expects prime 4 to be a return to form are going to be in for a rude awakening
It's honestly baffling how much they've been fucking up recently. After decades of success, you'd think they would understand what their core appeal was but they obviously don't. Back when people were pitting Forze against GT, that would have been the perfect time to put out an F-Zero. I've been waiting for a sequel to GX for years but not I'm just sure they'd fuck it up. Look at how lazy Mario Party 10 and Ultra Smash were.
The circumstances are pretty sad, since I hear the game is actually pretty good.
Shame nintendo shot themselves in the foot with everything surrounding it.
So, the pirates ruined another series? Color me surprised...
Did they give Jared Leto the CEO position at NIntendo? They keep doing insanely dumb things for months now that it makes me wonder they're just sabotaging themselves on purpose.
MIYAMOTO'S GONNA FREAK
So I should just buy it because this is the metroid game Nintendo *really* wanted to make these last 7 years
...
It doesn't fucking matter what "the developers" want. The product they create is for a specific audience, not for them. If the game doesn't cater to an audience, who is it supposed to profit from? The developers buying their own game?
>make product people like
>people buy it
>make another product people straight up tell you they don't like before it is finished
>people don't buy it
FUCKING SPOILED FANBASE WHY WON'T YOU BUY OUR SHIT?!?
You know at least Nintendo is trying to make a fun game out of all of this, it could be an extremely blatant corporate cash grab that tarnishes what fans love about the series.
It could have dragged Samus through the mud and ruined her, or tried to actively appeal to the COD audience, or given Samus a boyfriend. Chances are Nintendo won't make a sequel, and if they do they will try to improve on it.
Basically, it's not Equestria Girls
I'm not saying it was a smart decision either, but acting like they're intentionally killing the franchise every time something doesn't go your way is beyond reaching.
>even if it was a traditional Metroid game it would still sell the same amount.
That's what fractures my ass. If a game from a particular franchise is going to bomb anyway, why not make one that SOME people actually want instead of these asinine spin-offs?
Wow, I think I'm gonna die of not surprise.
Better to make a game you want to make instead of pandering to a nonexistent fanbase. I for one respect Nintendo for having that kind of artistic integrity.
How is it the fanbase? Saying it's the fans fault that FF flopped is like if they made a new Madden title and decided they were going to make it a tennis game instead of football, and then blaming it on the fans instead of the horrible decision to make a Madden title a tennis game.
I mean, people HAVE asked for a GFed game for a long time. This is just bad timing and the shitty art style doesn't help.
But they already said they're not developing another prime (at least they weren't a year ago when they said that). Everyone in this thread saying "Nintendo is going to think no one wants Metroid anymore" is retarded. They are a 120 year old company. If they can't figure out why their product failed then fuck them.
>It could have dragged Samus through the mud and ruined her
>tried to actively appeal to the COD audience
>given Samus a boyfriend.
but user they already did that a few years ago
Kill yourself you degenerate barneyfag
They made an active decision not to make the next mainline game in the franchise. They have to deal with the market consequences of that decision.
Why call it Metroid, then?
The Nintendo direct was surreal.
>HEY HERES A BUNCH OF NEW ZELDA TOYS AND GAME CONTENT
>WII U PORTS
>PAPER MARIO TCG 2
>oh and happy 30th anniversary metroid
The only good recent announcement i got related to Nintwndo is that SMT4: Final will be released physically and on time in Europe but even that is due to Deep Silver and not them.
>that pic
Exactly the moment I quit Other M. That part of the game was beyond bullshit.
>UK
Nothing to see here. This is the same market that made Aliens: Colonial Marines a best seller.
Fukk
>[NDS] Metroid Prime: Pinball (Nintendo) {2006.01.19} (¥4 800) - 0 / 15 541
>0 / 15 541
>0
They didn't make the game they wanted to make, they made the game they wanted you to buy. You don't make games for yourself and then sell them for full price.
>Basically, it's not Equestria Girls
I thought "they" liked it because it was successful enough to have, what? 2 or 3 sequels?
>more jap numbers in first week for Other M than Prime 2, 3, ZM
Why do they have such bad taste?
It actually did poorly but Hasbro are more retarded than even Nintendo just look how shit their toys are
Who here actually got the game? And if so, did you like it?
I got it and I enjoyed it. I just thought it was far too short. Could use more missions.
Because people actually had a lot of hype for Other M when it was revealed. Everybody wanted to know about Adam and Samus' past.
Instead we got... well, what Other M was.
>spoiled
>entitled
I seriously don't get this, people are complaining because they want to give Nintendo their MONEY for a good product. How is that being spoiled?
Fuck off, I'm sick of this viewpoint. I shouldn't be forced to be a game I think is shit just because the idiots behind it thought it was a good idea.
I feel good knowing Other M was gonna be shit from day one. Gameplay just looked mediocre at best
Couldn't have predicted it was gonna be that shit though
You know for as big as this shit show was, it would have been cheaper and more profitable to develop a 2d metroid or remake one of them. Nintendo is honestly just goddamn irresponsible with their IPs.
It did well until the third installment, which flopped, but Hasbro started production of the fourth installment before the third installment was released, thus forcing them to cut back on the number of toys released for it.
>he spent 7 years developing this
Not him but me too, when I first saw that trailer I had gotten a sour taste in my stomach because I knew that game was going to be shit.
it was catered more towards the japanese demographic, so they went to eat it up the first week.
the japanese don't like the game either, but they're just not as vehemently outraged as the western audience was.
I got, its unplayable solo even with lone wolf perk since most of your time is shooting the bullet sponge and its minions for what feels like an eternity.
And even getting a crew online the game still feels grindy and unchallenging, i think i only died twice in the entire game when evil samus was morph balling all over the place.
Of course it would flop. These fucking Jap retards don't realize what we want.
"OHOHOH, TOYOTA-SAN SHOULDU WE MAKEU METROIDO GAMEU EVERYONE WANTSU? NO, NO, MAKE A SHITTU." Fuck them.
i honestly think the higher-ups at nintendo don't understand what fans like about metroid anymore
all the people who understood what made it appealing have either moved on or died
what the fanbase thinks
>we want traditional metroidvania samus
what nintendo thinks the fanbase thinks
>metroid is too scary for me I wish they made a casualised cartoon skylanders style metroid based on referential characters of which I have no knowledge of because i'm a fucking 9 year old and the last good metroid game came out when I was 3
ITT manchildren upset that nintendo isnt catering to them
nah, i don't think nintendo's that delusional (anymore), it's not that they're misguided about what metroid's supposed to be, they just have no fucking idea what it's supposed to be at all so they're (stupidly) using it as a testbed for various other ideas because they know they can't make a metroid game fans would actually like
yes, customers tend to get upset when the product is subpar, this is how business typically works
ITT people who defend corporations for free
eat a dick, steinberg
Of course they don't, all of the higher-ups are old Japanese men. They all need to be fucking killed.
Yeah, I'm upset that Nintendo is inept in business.
This is what happens when you try to be innovative and do extreme changes to established franchises.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Its like they wanted the MH crowd attached to their flagship franchises and didnt understood what made that series good.
Then who is Nintendo supposed to cater to you fucking braindead moron? Nintendo is making a product for people to consume. If they don't like it, they don't buy it. It's that fucking simple. Therefore, Nintendo should make games that people actually like so consumers actually purchase those games.
What is the big fucking deal with this?
Well fuck me in the ass, what a god damn surprise!
Nobody could have seen this coming!
Why would anyone buy something they don't want?
Like, I can get wanting brand recognition and stuff, but they really need to stop doing these completely different spinoffs for series that haven't gotten a good game (or any game at all) in years. Make them their own thing.
WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU, YOU LITTLE FAGGOT
WHO'S LAUGHING NOW
YOU LOST, FUCKING SHILL
>If they don't like it, they don't buy it.
Pfft they do a lot more than that.
>good metroid 6 years ago
Uhhh?
This.
The fact that everyone immediately shit themselves as soon as the game announced just because Samus isn't in it shows how immature this fan base is. If the game was proven bad then they would have a point, but the fact that people are opposed to what developers decide to do with their own franchise, regardless of whether it is actually good or not, is ridiculous. You don't have to buy it and it's not like if this game wasn't made then there would be a new actual Metroid in its place.
a lliK oT bridgnikcoM?
wtf?
You mean the only ones keeping the online alive?
