Joke character gets serious

>joke character gets serious
>turns out to be insanely powerful

Name at least 11 games, 5 movies, and a comic book that do this.

...

Name 6.9 games, 4.8 wall paintings, and 3.14 radio dramas that do this.

>joke character doesn't even get serious
>turns out to be insanely powerful

nhoo

Name.
Date.
Title.
Class.

>joke character becomes a serious love interest

...

I like it when that happens.

Raven from ToV comes to mind. He's a lot more powerful as Sir Schwann.

>joke character is one of the strongest and her strength scales against whoever she needs to fight
>she assblasts the main character back in like 1990
>she has a 4 second cameo in 2016

Undertale is the only game I can think of that does this.
Maybe the Wolf Among Us, too

Eleven of the Neptunia games

Ant-man
Captain America 3 ft. Ant-man
Tremors
Cabin in the Woods
Evolution

Squirrel Girl

>lol gay cat

But then he gets serious

>thread copied straight from Sup Forums
good job

>joke character is actually the final boss

dragon ball z

That llama from Xenogears, Hammer

>Can tank
>Can heal
>Can wreak havoc with multiple DoT's at the same time
>Is a family man
>Plays the comic relief (Riki need a rest now!)
>Did that because he saw that the others were pushing themselves too hard and needed to rest but wouldn't say it
>Is the fucking Heropon

Bionis's Best Daddypon

The Lord of Hints

>fighting the hint master Terry

>Eleven of the Neptunia games
Not really. The only one who passes OP's description is Plutia in RB3. Everyone else's power varies from being weak as fuck to overpowered and heavily depends on how much the game wants to make a joke.

Deekin?

>It's yet another "Sup Forums makes the same exact thread on Sup Forums as well" episode

My nigga

Literally the fucking no eared guy in Tails Gets Trolled. nigga turns into a dragonborn and fights seriously.

...

Honestly thought I was gonna dislike him, but aside from the dumb ways he talks, he's an alright character.
Shame, too, considering there are Nopon that can talk normally.

...

what games do this?

I can think of DmC 3, when you find out the Jester's real form.

Super Paper Mario

>find out
It's pretty obvious, they weren't exactly subtle about it

was dimitri really a joke character?

In the beginning yes

...

Does AAI2 count?

He was first shown to be incompetent.
He threw Mario into a dimension where his power is x10
But he didn't realize Mario's power is also x10 as well.

Catherine.

Jigglypuff from Super Smash Bros. -> Super Smash Bros. Melee

>useless cunt whom joins the party early and stays useless for the next 7 hours until you get someone to replace them
>game manual even says their class's usefulness is debatable
>60 hours later in post game they become essential to progression

Undertale

>BEAAAAAAMUUUUUUUUUU

>games

>Pokemon

>Undertale

>VTMB

>Hellgate: London

>MGR

>NOLF

>La Mulana

>Senran Kagura

>Fate/Stay Night

>Max Payne 2

>Thunder Wolves

>Movies

>Deadpool

>Galaxy Quest

>

>Comic Book

I'm sure there's at least one comic where Aqua-man does something

>cabin in the woods
I nearly jizzed my pants when he came back
Mallow from Super Mario RPG, permanent member of my party
Riki was a beast, for DPS I had him, dunbar, and fiora with dunbar and fiora loaded with haste and double attacks. Cut through an enemy in seconds.

Plastic Man as well for the comics. He wants to be comic relief, but when he puts his mind to it, he can be frightening.

>joke character ends up being the best character
>they kill them off in the sequel

>Casually skins a bear in his supports with Corrin
>In a my room conversation, he'll straight up say all you're wrong about everything
>On top of that, has growths comparable to the older brothers

>hardcore character takes a few hits from you
>"I'm getting pumped!"
>"Time to get serious!"

It was actually 108x

>joke character gets possessed
>the possessor starts freaking out about the joke character and leaves their body immediately

This. This is the best.

>joke character gets possessed
>threathens to kill host
>no one in the main cast gives a shit

>joke character gets possessed
>the possessor starts wrecking everyone with the body
>even he's surprised

Something about this feels like a bootleg version of symbiotic titan

>all the villains get flabbergasted when they see the joke character
>near the end joke character reveals that they were actually evil, but enjoyed hanging out with you so much that they turned good

>liking the "lol i was actually the strongest all along" character

Absolutely anime tier.

game?

...

Is that the dad from Invincible?

Does no one else notice that the same threads get made on Sup Forums and Sup Forums?

Portal 2

we do

If the subject fits, why complain?

Does Exdeath count? He's fucking ridiculous, but he's theoretically invincible if played perfectly.

...

Literally Donald Trump.

Iceman is a dumb fuck and literal homo, When he gets mind controlled he becomes an alpha level mutant who melts the icecaps because ice powers cannot logically physically exist in reality. Hes really able to manipulate thermodynamics and can add or remove any amount of energy while also being physically immune to temperature changes.

Indeed. Too bad he was annoying.
>RIKI IS THE HEROPON XDDDD

>literal homo
dont remind me

Literally the only good character in Naruto

Literally the only reason he's so hard is a bullshit Karma mechanic and he dodges.

If it wasn't for that he'd be just as easy as the other bosses.

exactly

There need to be more works of fiction that do this.

There are too many movies, vidya, anime, etc where there's just one super-serious, super-strong character who dominates everyone the whole way through. It's not entertaining unless done right, and very little is it done right. The only example I can think of is maaaaaybe the Hateful Eight.

So it's not that he's powerful, but Toby just reworked several game mechanics just for Sans to try and make him tough.

yeah

...

>Character enters tournament
>Knocks his opponents flat in one blow
>Helps them back up immediately afterwards
>TO gets super suspicious to the point of rewriting and rigging the tournament so he will lose
>Still makes it to the end

wait a minute that manga sounds familiar

>CP
>a joke character

The original, the best, better than the rest.

that's Helck, isn't it

to be fair Mr.Karate started as a serious character, then became a joke and then became serious again.

Aquaman has only being a joke on cartoons and TV.
But he is pretty fucking OP in the comics.
Phisical resistance that allows him to survive in the deepest of the sea which makes him as resilient as a fucking submarine.
He is in the upper strength scale of the DCU only being out powered by omega level metas like Superman, Shazam, Wondie and Martian Manhunter.
High end psychic abilities that while it only works with aquatic life it has no limit of range nor is limited by the level of intelligence of the life form.
The trident of poseidon which is one of the most powerful magical artifacts in the DCU being more or less DC version of Mjolnir.
And Pre reboot Aquaman had a magical water hand that allowed him to control any body of water like a weapon.

MadWorld

>Joke character
>Literally can only control the fibers spun to make jeans
>Supposedly 4th strongest character in the world

god, I hope the movie turns out good.

Fuck you now I have to go listen to it.

as a DCfag i honestly have zero hope in the DC cinematic universe so far, they have done a terrible job with both superman and the justice league so far, if Wondie's movie end up being good which i doubt i might give them the benefit of the doubt.
At least the comics themselves are still pretty good with rebirth pretty much fixing all the bad stuff nu52 did and keeping the stuff that is good, ironically while Marvel is doing great at the box office their current book line up are fucking terrible PC pandering shit, with the only good comic left being Vision's miniseries.
