Playing d2 again after decades
well you fucked up, Hans
That's not as bad as making Ancient's Pledge on a plate mail
/r/ing the picture of Griswold's Heart with enigma runes in it
Daily reminder that runewords were just unecessarily complicated uniques in disguise that people only liked because a few of them were overpowered as fuck and/or gave access to the best skills of other classes instead of doing something creative.
I did the exact same thing
I was so mad I just stopped playing this character completely
That was the point. All of the most powerful runewords had incredibly rare runes required to create them.
The bad runewords were typically made from common runes you could find in act 1-2 in normal that let you create some shitty runewords until you found some better items. They were also intended as something more to do with socketed items, as those weren't really taken advantage of before runewords came out.
runewords were one of the best parts of the game and hugely balanced classes
nobody used the majority of runewords ever. The stats were never worth the effort. Nobody enjoyed finding runes for the expensive ones. If it weren't for d2jsp & botters cancerous existences, runewords wouldn't have been even remotely as common as they were.
>balanced classes
Yeah by giving them all more of the same abilities. Sorcs are too good at farming? better let everyone be too good at farming to balance it out!
Sorry, it's been years since I played D2. What is wrong with these weapons?
>let everyone be too good at farming to balance it out!
yeah that's how balancing works
elemental druids and bone necros were very poor without teleport
They inserted the runes in the wrong order, wasting them.
>balanced classes
>by just giving everyone the same OP skills
what happens if they are in the right order
They're in the right order but insight is ladder only
>removing uniqueness is good balancing
yea, nah.
classes are supposed to have unique strengths and weaknesses, that's the whole point.
holy shit you're right they should remake all the classes instead, why they didn't think of that
You form a runeword, which, in addition to the initial rune buffs, grants a slew of other buffs and effects, some quite strong.
they still have their unique abilities and the game wasn't dominated by a single class anymore which makes it ten times better
of course there are better ways to balance a game but we're talking about a zero funds patch years after the games premiere
im dying because of this user, ral doesn't even look like ith how does this happen
>the game wasn't dominated by a single class
Did we play the same fucking game? The one with Hammerdins literally everywhere? The one with literally everyone having BO and/or a HotO?
>of course there are better ways to balance a game but we're talking about a zero funds patch years after the games premiere
the problem is that everyone still holds runewords up as one of D2's best features instead of a end of conventional life cycle booster shot to the arm that didn't actually add anything meaningful to the game that couldn't have been accomplished with more uniques.
Hammerdins were very good and safe but lightning sorc is still faster. They nerfed them later on too.
Not sure why you're so against giving some skills to other classes but this a long dead horse, whatever floats your boat.
>He lost to HDins
Look at this man. Look at him and laugh.
whats a fun build for Grim Dawn? pirating now
>he didn't mod his SP
shiiiieeet
I feel weird just playing singleplayer D2.
Is there something wrong with me?
Its lonely
OP here. it is a ladder char, but to my surprise, raltirtalsol only works on polearms, not spears..
