When exactly did Sonic games get bad?
When exactly did Sonic games get bad?
Sonic Heroes. If you think I'm wrong I will gladly explain why.
Adventure series from what I heard, though I liked them to some extent years ago.
Regardless of what I think, I want to hear why you say that.
You're right. No need to explain!
When you couldn't see a meter in front of you to add "difficultly" and "fast-paced action"
You're not. But it began with the Adventure series.
Great concept, poorly realized. Then Heroes fucked it all up.
This or 06
How the fuck is that more terrible than any other Sonic game ever released?
Heroes was a decrease in quality, Shadow was the first game that people saw as a joke, and 06 ruined the reputation completely.
Isn't Lost World like
Actually somewhat decent?
I'd like you to.
It's just average to mediocre. It's nowhere near as bad as the actual bad Sonic games. All the Unleashed onwards games have way too much polish to ever be that bad again (except Boom but that wasn't made by Sonic Team)
06 and Shadow
Adventure wasnt good
People liked Adventure and Adventure 2 at the time so no matter what your opinion is of them now, they were not the downfall of Sonic.
Various shit spinoffs during the genny days.
SA1 or SA2 really planted the seeds of evil, in terms of poor design decisions that would pester the franchise for like a decade.
I think Heroes was when public opinion started turning on him, even Sonic fans generally saw it as a step down compared to what came before.
Then Shadow came out and 06 not long afterwards.
I never particularly liked them, but Adventure is when shit hit the fan.
No. That is completely and utterly wrong.
Heroes was better than the Adventure games, by far.
The problems that Heroes has (of which there are many) are far eclipsed by the directionless, poorly made trash that the Adventure games were.
Sonic Advanced 3 was the last good Sonic game before the Dark Ages, seriously look it up. Shadow the Edgehod came out after it and Sonic 06 after that.
I tried these games the other day and they were crap. People only like them because of nostalgia. It's artificial difficulty crap because you never know what's coming up unless you memorized it and the bosses are all damage sponges. Fucking snoozefest. DROPPED.
Adventure.
Though, the first Advance game is decent. Its the last Sonic game I find appealing. The boost games don't interest me much.
This is objectively false. The Adventure games at least had a few decent stages. Heroes had nothing good about it.
honestly i never thought there was a consistent stream of bad releases, usually there was the occasional good games. I'm too optimistic about this doomed series.
>artificial difficulty
It's not artificial difficulty you...
>I tried these games the other day
Ah, I get it. You're underage. Okay.
How come Kirby, Mario, DK, and Crash can all do amazing spin-offs but Sonic can't, what gives.
All Stars Racing Transformed, Sonic Battle come to mind as some really good spinoffs. Maybe the latter is debatable but ASRT is a great kart racer.
Because Sonic spinoffs were never given to competent developers. Although 3D Blast was alright I guess.
Heroes had a better visual style and tropes that fit closer to the Genesis games.
Adventure 1/2 had better gameplay (For Sonic).
I enjoyed the overall experience of the Adventure games more since, for the most part, each stage was different. Compare that to having to beat the same levels 4 times in a Easy/Normal/Hard/Mission Mode style.
Sega refuses to give the IP to decent developers, which is why Boom wound up in the hands of ND rejects.
Nevermind, I forgot about ASRT when I wrote So that's one good spinoff.
Your statement is also objectively false. The Adventure games had no redeeming qualities save for being "so bad it's good"
So ASRT is the only good Sonic spin-off?
>3d blast was alright
nooooo
Well hey it's a start
I like 3D Blast, Sonic the Fighters and Tails Adventure too
Sonic Adventure 1
>he never played All Stars Racing Transformed
Shadow was where the dip happened, Unleashed stopped it.
Every Sonic stage in Adventure ranged from decent to good. The Tails stages were also decent. That's already infinitely better than anything in Heroes.
3D Blast isn't great, but it's not a bad game. It takes a while to adjust to the slippery controls, and corralling the Flickies could be annoying, but the level designs were good and it was enjoyable to run through once you got used to everything.
>easiest games of their era
>kids nowadays complain they're too hard
everytime
Sonic Heroes
Then Sonic 2006
Canned Furry 4 this sunday
Fuck Sonic, where is Power Drift 2 Sega?
