zwei is just widely avaliable if you consider everyone has it because it takes one suicide run into the graveyard, and is a billion times easier to get than the scythe at level 1.

The Zweihander was Godlike in DS1, but it's not great in the sequels.

This, the Havel helm, and the glass crest shield was my favorite build I've done in the game.

It's completely possible to complete the game using only a bow. Just because you personally can't doesn't mean it's not possible.

Bows where fixed in Dark Souls 2 and they actually were easier than a normal melee build. The DPS could be insane with the Hunters Blackbow or dual wielding mundane Avelyn.

Dark Souls 3 they weakened bows again but you can still do good damage

you are greatly overestimating the weakness of bows. They're not as bad as you imagine they are.

The problem is that usually they're weak until around mid-game when you can actually find some decent bows and get your stats up. Once you get a decent bow, it's comparable to a magic play-through spamming Soul Arrow.

It's REALLY good in the first Dark Souls.

ONLY in dark souls, though.

In Demon's Sword, the Greatsword (which is a Zweihander) is kind of bad
In Dark Souls 2, it's bad because it's outclassed by other greatswords no matter what you plan to do
In Dark Souls 3, I don't think I've seen a single person online using the Zweihander. Again, it's outclassed by other greatswords

Moonlight Greatsword will always be the most iconic weapon of the Soulsborne series

And outclassed immediately by the gravelord sword which is just 5 minutes away.

It's the most convenient early-game weapon for a strength build. You can get it within like 30 seconds of reaching firelink

No DaS weapon is iconic. No single weapon is the soulsborne series makes me think "Huh, that's a soulsborne weapon."

Now armour, on the other hand.

You're not going to get the gravelord sword quickly and easily unless you have expert knowledge of the game and know how to skip everything to reach the covenant ASAP, so with that logic in mind, you can make the Zweihander stronger than the Gravelord Sword nearly as fast.

Run through the forest to Andre, picking up some soul items on the way, pop them, upgrade the Zweihander to +5, go back to firelink through the elevator, and get a Fire Zweihander with the green titanite on the way to the blacksmith

A fire Zweihander +0 is already stronger than a gravelord sword +1
