It's a little too broad for its own good (there's a lot going on but quite a bit of it feels mundane). Also it feels too realistic at times (like you can't seem to earn any money being a criminal; the only way to really rack up big bills is by playing the stock market).

Fun missions and world, shit story and characters.

It's a pretty good sandbox and thats it.

Story was a mess. Balancing betrayal, wacky light criminal jokes, heists, broken families and gangs was a bit too much.
It was still a lot of fun and provided a shit load of content for a retail game but after RDR and MP3 I expected a lot more.

Cop and civilian AI is too realistic, makes the game lose some of the charm the previous games have. Still fun, good world, fun to play every once in a while. Also, it's too hard to earn money being a criminal.

Honestly found it more boring than 4 and Michael was the only character I actually liked.

Bad story, Franklin did fuck all the entire time.
Heists were shit and there were only like 3 proper heists in the game.
Online is fucking garbage.
Singleplayer was good though, some fun missions in there and it's fun in general to just mess around in.

I thought the story was great, I play exclusively single player anymore and it was just a blast all the way through.

A shallower game than GTA IV despite it's half hearted attempts to bring back stat progression.

A PS360 game through and through, mission setpieces are thouroughly unimpressive. The most glaring example of this I could find was the mission you land a plane inside another plane, and the actual action of entering the plane is relegated to a cutscene.

That's some fucking PS2 shit rockstar, I could handle it in GTA: SA's "Stowaway" mission but not in a day and age where indie games manage to have more impressive, dynamic gameplay setpieces.

In my 30 years of gaming, I honestly have never been more hyped to play a game than GTA V. Leading up to release it felt like a worldwide event. Crazy thing is it actually delivered and provided one of the best experiences of the past decade.

Yeah I think the way it played out in the game was more realistic and added to the whole "crook trying to be a family man" thing that the devs were going for. The game would have been pretty shit if it ended at that point with a 5 star man hunt or had basically two Trevors, don't you think?

Great game. Loading times are insane with the multiplayer and the money grind is brutal + kinda ruined by all the hacking / people buying shark cards

I gave up on the multiplayer long ago. I did try it again after the PC version was released and I was able to get my character imported, but it still didn't hold my interest. I think IV handled online better.

i only liked the online with friends blowing shit up, using bike and landing planes in the city and rooftops, SP was boring trash with tonnes of filler

It was all right. Writing was less terrible than other GTA games, although long stretches--Trevor's first arrival in LS, working for the FIB--are really boring filler after the first playthrough. Los Santos didn't feel like LA the way Liberty City got New York in GTA4.

Felt empty and half-assed. Fun game, if you don't think too hard about it.

Why start the game over if you don't have to? Replaying missions is a thing. You might miss out on the random events, but it's not worth it unless you upgraded to the next-gen version.

memes aside I found the story really fun. I played through it 3 times. Even though alot of people hate it I really like Online. I still play it every now and then. Heistan, shittan, racan, stuntan, fightan, and so on is fun when you're with friends, hell I even have alot of fun with /gtag/

Yes, the story is really entertaining. Lots of memorable funny moments. People who hates the storyline probably expecting another realistic gloomy drama like IV.

Lead designers were fired at the beginning of 2016, two of them had been around since gta 3, and the third was the story writer for SA VC and GTA 4. I'm worried the next installment is going to be crap, now that the micro transaction mill has identified GTA as a cash cow now.

The only reason he doesn't kill him is because if he does (which would be in character) he would never pull down Madrazo's house and therefore never set up another heist that leads Trevor into finding him out and setting up the story.
