Redout seems alright but I haven't played much. Haven't played FF yet.

Redout is awesome its like pod-racer, redline and wipeout had baby.

Started Ballistic NG and its pretty damm good

I met an original wipeout developer once.
Through my ex gfs mutual friends.

His wife turned gay and left him. And he became a cross dresser to cope i guess. Dude also hit on my girl. While wearing makeup.

Good game nonetheless.

...

...

Do you have a photo of him/her/thing?

Yeah now every time someone mentions wipeout i always have an image of that weirdo wearing makeup in my head. sooo yey

Nah i just the memories...

What does Redout handle the most similar to?
I've been hearing all sorts of things on the handling.

Like WipEout with sidestrafing and less bouncing.

Thanks to Vita being hacked, I finally got to play Wipeout.

I'm assuming Wipeout 2048 is the worst in the franchise since handhelds usually gets bad versions of games, but this game is just boring.
You're not that fast, and the stages are so straight, almost no emphasys on drifting or even turning.
It's also 30fps, but again, I'm 100% positive it's because it's a dumb handheld version.

2048 was given wider tracks to make it easier for new people to get into the series. All the other installments, barring Fusion, have tighter, more difficult tracks.

Try out the Wipeout HD DLC for it.

Sounds so stupid I have no idea why you'd make that up, so it's probably true.

I wish it was made up.

100%ing Wipeout 3 Special Edition was pretty challenging in a good way.

Wipeout HD is my favorite. Wipeout XL is also superb.

The PSP games are merely ok. Not bad, not great.

>someone mentions BallisticNG last week
>see it has Workshop support
>go through downloading all the cool looking ships
>never bother playing the game
Workshop should only display after you've first launched a game.

HD is the best WipEout, so much so that even the Fury add-on was disappointing (besides the extra modes). Although I loved how every gold medal unlocked concept art in Pure, really made each medal feel worthwhile.

I have Formula Fusion, but I haven't put much time into it, as I was waiting for more updates. I like the concept of others making their own futuristic racing games to fill the void.

2048 is garbage. 30 fps is an unacceptable speed for a racing game, which should be a dead giveaway. Although the PSP games were good, so you could play them.

>wipeout

Go back to

This. 2048 sucked HD is amazing

>Thanks to Vita being hacked

Wut? Did I miss something big?

Does anybody know of any time trial rankings for these games?
I could only find the one for HD Fury.

2048 sucked, HD Fury is so much better.

I still enjoyed 2048

HENkaku lets you pirate a handful of Vita games on 3.60 firmware

Interesting. Is there any emulation yet? Having a good portable emulation device when it got hacked was half the reason I bought the thing.

Yes, though the emulators are kind of shit right now. You can at least run a lot of PSP emulators via VHBL.

Wipeout HD is probably my favourite Wipeout game. It's pretty much perfect, in my opinion.
Also, I should really check out the PS2 ones. Which is the best? I'm gonna emulate it, because I don't have money or patience to buy one.

ONE

TWO THREE

LE NIGHT DOMINATOR

No, don't. Fusion is shit and Pulse is a bad port. Go back and play the PS1 games instead.

Oh? I thought Pulse and Pure were considered to be good ones. Oh, well. Guess I'll just get the first three.

HD+Fury were literal perfection.
The others are all great but never as tight and well tuned.

>tfw waiting for a racing game to come close to the raw fun that I got from Wipeout HD Fury
>All these new "Future Racers" just don't cut it even a little
This genre needs a raw money injection like this game had, if a game isn't polished to a mirror sheen like HD Fury was it honestly feels like clawing at scraps.
Please, I'm desperate.

Pulse and Pure on PSP are pretty good, but you've also experienced most of their content if you played HD Fury.

>Want to get the Wipeout games
>Check PB
>Only find this

Really? Is Wipeout really that fucking dead? Come on.

2047 and 3 is where it's at.

JUST
PORT WIPEOUT HD + FURY TO PS4
JUST, FUCKING, PORT IT. 1:1, NOT EVEN ANY NEW CONTENT. THE SAME GAME.
I regret selling my PS3 for a ps4 just because of Wipeout

Does PAL matter at all when it comes to Wipeout games? I don't want to be stuck with 50Hz.

redout is aweseome but not worth 30, 20 max.

formula fusion i bought and refunded instantly wayyyy to cunky imma keep it on my wishlist tho has potential

the PSP games were actually superior in Europe IIRC

But the PS1 games will run in 50Hz for sure

I threw an embarrassing amount of money at the FF Kickstarter. The game is honestly just ugly and clunky as fuck, it's nowhere near as good as even the PSP games were. Not sure what they think they're doing with it.

they are ungodly slow at developing this too. for shame.

Superior how? Content?

Yeah, I've heard a lot of complaints about the handling, but the developers seem to listen to feedback. Hopefully they can fix it in a year when it's due. I just want this to be good so badly.

Yeah, some free DLC I think.

It doesn't help that the game looks awful right down to the ship designs and bloom. Look at the garage, it looks like an eye test

Devs are dead, brah

>all these babies not admitting that 3 is best

I love Wipeout, played the shit out of 3, Fusion and HD Fury

Any more pics?

ALRIGHT, MOTHERFUCKERS
REPRESENT YOUR COLOURS

...

What's so good about 3 then?

Holy shit she's still going at it

I'll just ask here. I'm having an issue running Wipeout Pulse on PPSSPP. When selecting a race from the campaign, the screen goes to black for a second and the emulator locks on the loading screen. Windows gives me an error message saying the drivers have crashed and have been restored or something. Is this a common thing with a simple solution, or do I have to go look for shit online?

That shit's from 4 years ago, hover over the image.

You're honestly probably better off asking if you can't get an answer from here, I can't help you either brother

>a handful of Vita games

So the entire Vita library?

Is there a chart or something for Wipeout games? Similar to the ones made for Silent Hill and Kirby and shit? Would be helpful.

The only thing I liked about 2048 is the intro. It was neat.

youtube.com/watch?v=bNq8lqUhoV0

Wow, I only played Fusion back on my ps2 and loved it, but apparently all the other ps1/2 era ones must surpass it judging by this thread :/

Would have really liked some more HD/Fury content though, but that maybe due to how I spent a shit ton of time on it and did everything before even knowing it

HD/Fury didn't really lack content, in my opinion.

what platforms do you own?

PS3, PS2, but emulation is a thing, so you should be able to play any game up to the PSV and PS3 games.
Would just be neat with some info about the games and how well received they are by fans.

I should have phrased that better but I would have liked a greater variety in tracks and customisation and stuff.

Would have liked to have different track routes (but that maybe me channel ing my Fusion only background)

I can truly appreciate what an amazing game it is though, Especially given the other shit that was made at the time

You can't emulate Vita games.

Anyway, the good ones are these.
>Anything on PS1
>Anything on PSP
>HD Fury

youtu.be/B0L3obl65do

This game came out in 2008 for the fucking PS3. I know it's a racing game and they are easier to optimize, but fucking hell this game still looks amazing, almost ten years after release.

Optimisation aside, they had a stellar art team behind it. The might of the ps3 (at the time) allowed them to utilise The Designer's Republic to a much greater extent than ever before, filling stages with visual stimulus and making it the unique cyber-pristine aesthetic we still love today.
It running at 60FPS is honestly just the icing on the cake.

The whole dynamic 1080p thing is way more impressive.

>That feel when finally broke 100 in Zone

Goddamn, that was hype as fuck. My hands and mind were one with the game. Moments like these are so fucking rare today. The only games that really managed to achieve this special feeling are Quake 3, F-Zero GX and Wipeout HD.

tDR wasn't even involved after 2097/XL.

>tfw topped out somewhere around 40 before I stopped playing

I can't even imagine what 100 looks like. Should probably check a youtube video of it now that I think about it.

Shit, thought it was them. Behance?

I pirated RedOut and it runs like shit for me. I really want to buy it, but I'm not sure if my PC just can't run it properly or if the crack is shit. Anyone have experience with the pirated version?

Honestly, the game has some fucking fantastic features as well and really utilizes the system to its fullest.
First of all, it has motion controls that lets you steer the vehicle by tilting, but the great thing is that it lets you to fully customize it. You can set it to only register X or Y axis for tilting and you can set the sensitivity as well. What I use is Y tilting to control pitch and then the analog stick for general controls. It feels really damn good.
Obvious it uses analog triggers, but you can also use the regular shoulder buttons, which are pressure sensitive. Same goes for face buttons.
Then there's the customizable music, PSN interactivity, trophies, photo mode and DLC. I have a hard time thinking of a more complete PS3 game. It's so fucking good and it really is a shame that we won't see a game like this for probably a very long time, if ever.

Had the exact same problem. Bought the game on Steam and the framerate persisted on that version, I'd get 40~ish on Normal settings.

that's basically the same one

It gets pretty fucking sick. But, due to the fact that it slowly goes up, you don't really start noticing how fucking fast you're going until it's too late and you panic and lose control.
That is, until you git gud and just enter a state of flow where your hands and controller merge.

Here's the current world record for Syncopia. View at your own risk.

I enjoy 3 the most simply because I prefer the classic physics and controls. HD/Fury is a very close second.
Redout is pretty good, I'd have webms of it already but it runs like shit on my PC, going to upgrade it ASAP.
Formula Fusion isn't looking to hot. Bng is coming along really well and has constant update streams if you follow the unstable or special developer builds, Formula Fusion is slow already and the gameplay is questionably not enjoyable.
>I'm assuming Wipeout 2048 is the worst in the franchise since handhelds usually gets bad versions of games
There is one other game in the series people usually think is worse because its so unlike the rest of the series, both old and modern, but other than that yes you are correct.
Most of the TT's on wipeoutzone were apparently wiped after a site takedown or something. Bng has built in leaderboards.

>pirate Redout because it looks fun (and it is)
>expect to get my ass handed to me since I've never played anything like F-Zero or Wipeout and allegedly those types of games aren't very easy
>keep getting gold or platinum in career mode

Is this game easy when compared to similar games or am I just somehow not playing completely awfully?

It is easier. Partly because they toned down the challenge after faggots complained they weren't winning the game after playing for an hour.

>Partly because they toned down the challenge after faggots complained

why is this allowed

Nothing on Pure's intro though

youtube.com/watch?v=8n9QqB1uiU8

Though I'll admit I'm a rabid Orbital fanboy so I may be biased here

RedOut have hilarious/awful design. Crafts looks like they were put in some kitchen robot, and mixed with some vinegar sauce.

I think the AI actually released broken or something. 90% of events I smoke all racers and will lap them if the race is long enough, but there always a couple where 1 or 2 racers suddenly become fucking goku and fly through the track perfectly, and its nearly impossible to catch them.
I also think that for all the other racers, there is like an opposite rubberbanding effect. If the AI is behind you they seem to start playing worse and can never catch you, if for some reason early on they get a small lead on you they are fucking GONE.

It's just the nature of the industry right now. You have to make money and you won't make money unless you cater to these whiny no-skill shitters.
I wish they'd include harder challenges though. Make it optional or something. Fuck. The whole point was to be ''uncompromising'' wasn't it?

>WipeOut

NO. It's WipEout, sorry it triggers me. Anyway, I Fucking miss this series. FAST Racing on Wii U is great, Redout looks fun and Formula Fusion looks like a hot mess right now.

...

>FAST Racing on Wii U is great
Is it really though? I've heard some mixed opinion, saying it severely lacks content and is pretty shallow once you learn the basic mechanics.
It is apparently getting DLC, which is nice though.

It's fun, but not the wipeout or fzero levels of deep mechanics. Once you learn the track layouts you can 100% the game easy. I did it in about a week.
That said, the crafts are good, lots of track options, the polarity mechanics is alright, and you can go fast. I'd say its worth the 15 bucks.
Oh, and there is permanent motion blur, if you aren't a fan of that. I know some really aren't and it ruined the game for them.

>Oh, and there is permanent motion blur, if you aren't a fan of that
I'm not. But, I can let it slide. For $15, I think I can feel good supporting the devs. Maybe, if it's successful enough, they'll make a sequel which improves on these things.

Oh, it's no WipEout HD. I put 460+ hours into HD since the mechanics are so spot on. Truth be told there will be no futuristic racer as good as HD ever again, piss of F-Zero shitters.

It's a really fun throwaround with a banging soundtrack and good enough level design. It's way better than anything else recently and runs like a dream.

You can turn off motion blur in options. Turn "post processing" or "effects" to low. That's what I did.

The thing is, frn IS a sequel to fast racing league on the wii, and while the improvement is visible I feel we cant just buy sequels forever. Hopefully the DLC has a free patch or something that can toggle motion blur.
Although, you are right about supporting the genre. AG racing seems to be trying to make a comeback and I've been trying to buy every release.

I'm really worried for Formula Fusion desu, development is taking ages and if they're not careful it's going to turn into yet another kickstarter failure.

Doesn't help that it feels like the team is basically running on fumes from a money standpoint. They really lowballed their kickstarter goal because people have no idea how expensive it is to produce videogames.

I feel like it will be released eventually, and it will be good, but it will be long past release date with the way they are handling it, and if AG racing becomes popular again they will be easily forgotten under a bunch of new titles. There is a lot more left to work on than I think the devs think there is. I don't even know if they have multiplayer yet.

Oh, god. I was trying out BallisticNG and I'm absolute trash at it. Good heavens. Is this how classic Wipeout handles, because this will take a lot of time getting used to after HD.

Damn that vid really brings back memories. Will we ever get anything as great as HD again? Pure-Pulse-HD was the golden era of wipeout for me.

so is redout the next big thing for the genre?

looking at the stats there are only 200 people playing it

why people don't like to go FAST anymore?

They have a lot riding on their success because of how they're playing on 'ex-wipeout devs' angle and bringing in tDR. But yes they really have to hustle if they want to launch it before people (even the original backers) lose interest.

They recently opened up their test pilot program to more people again, which tells me a lot about how many of the current backers/alpha players are even playing it now -- me included.

Casuals can't into anything that uses more than 1 button

I guess. It doesn't seem too popular, but these games will probably forever be niche. It's been that case for quite a while now. I mean, how many people bought Wipeout HD? There really is no market for these games anymore. PS3 owners were probably far too busy playing Uncharted 2 or some shit to care about genuinely exciting games.

Even wipeout the pinnacle of the genre itself was always a niche game from a normie standpoint. People might recognize it as the traditional PS launch title and that's it.

People just don't like going fast :( There's not much replayability for people who aren't hardcore fans of the genre, and they'll just get stomped by vets online - its never had mass appeal.
