My mx518 just died. Whats a good replacement?
My mx518 just died. Whats a good replacement?
g400s
RIP.
After all these years its still the best.
G400 is an MX518 without shitty angle snapping
Have you fuckers not seen the prices on those glorious discontinued pieces of engineering perfection?
Every time my g400 sneezes I have a mild panic attack. I don't want one of logitechs ridiculously ugly new stealth bombers.
And I can't fucking stand the new logo. Stupid goddamn g.
You can still get them for 50 bucks new so I'm not sure what the problem is here
Not so much in Canada. I'm glad they're still around somewhere though.
Try not living in a shithole then
...
that glorious piece of engineering perfection is worth the pricetag
>having one right now
Mionix Castor
>tfw wanna see what all the fuss is about with another mouse but I'm so used to the sensitivity and feel of my current mouse
Just replaces my mx518 with this a little while back. Great mouse.
>Ships from China
Yeah have fun with your counterfeit piece of shit.
Only from third party sellers who probably get their stock from overseas, which almost guarantees that you're going to receive something half-assed made of cheap parts.
Just get a Zowie, mate.
Just buy a new of the same type tbqh. I have a much more "advanced" logitech right now, but I honestly preferred my old logitech mouse.
I went from an mx518 to a g502 and am loving it
What people don't realize is that replacing a mouse like that with the same type is almost impossible unless you purchased used or from third-party sellers that can't really be trusted. Fucking Logitech discontinuing great mice every year so people buy their newer, uglier, bloated garbage.
Not ss rival 300.
Had one for just over a year and a half
shit quality control. Got jumpy sensor and the scroll wheel gets stuck some times so you have to push it to the side, and the rubber on the side started to fall apart.
The new Logitech g403 coming out looks pretty good. It doesn't have a retarded shape like the g303.
I just looked it up, it does look good. Why do PC users insist on putting LEDs on everything though? I mean seriously. Do you guys actually like having colored beams of light coming from every orifice of every piece of hardware connected to your PC?
No, I hate that shit, I disable lights on any peripheral that has it, I'm not a nigger.
>get a G502 because G500 was still having double-click issues when you clicked
>pretty damn nice
>rebind the dpi buttons to page up/down and home because I never bothered with dpi settings
>navigating websites with just my mouse is a breeze
I got one recently too. Really solid mouse
Good night, sweet prince.
>the rubber on the side started to fall apart.
This shit has happened to mine. The rubber has completely gone in places.
Other than that though I really like the mouse.
My g400 has 'broken' multiple times. I opened it up and the fucking wire arrangement in there makes it so any repeated tension will eventually tear the wire.
If it ever stops working just open it up and take a look.
g502
+1 for mionix. i have an avior 7000. very high built quality, flawless sensor too. just a tad expensive.
I had a G500 that developed double-click on M1, so I swapped buttons from my control panel, about 4 months later M2 developed double click and I said fuck it, I'm getting a different mouse.
I'm using the Corsair M65 RBG Pro and love it, I just miss the G500's smooth moment scrolling middle wheel button. With the flick of my middle finger, I could have the G500 fly down a 400 post thread. With my new corsair, I have to use the navigation bar or click the middle wheel button and wave my mouse down to the bottom of the pages.
>Mfw imagining using one of these
I made the jump from mx518 to g502 and I love it.
You should've gotten a G502, bro. I've stuck with the G5 series since the second iteration and they seem to improve with each one. The looks however seem to degrade depending on if you like that gamer style appearance or not.
The new GAMAN MOUSE BRUH CHEK OUT MUH RGB LITES mice from Logitech are, despite their appearances, actually quite good. You can just toggle the lighting off in the control utility and then just use it like normal.
bought a zowie and instantly returned it when the scroll wheel was fucking garbage.
maybe mine was defective but oh well.
I got the g402 because the 502 is hella heavy
mx518.
The only good mouse. Just get a new same one.
5 years and 8 months with my mx518. I hope I can make it to 7 years at least.
>turn the lighting off
All I can do is dim it all the way down so it's barely visible.
>angle snapping
Can't live in the past user. At least get a g400
I typically use my computer with the lights on, so I can't see the RGB lighting at all when it's turned down.
>tfw g303 gets in here in a few days
God damn it, totally forgot about the 403, the shape of the 303 is ugly as fuck
Well the double-clicking was just one problem, another one was that within a month of getting the G500, the mesh sleeve over the cable where it connects into the top of the mouse frayed, a few months later and some of the exposed wires were getting frayed on my mousepad so I bound that up with two inches of electrical tape.
After all that, I wasn't in the mood to trust Logitech again so I figured I'd go Corsair since I've never had problems with their equipment, certainly not right after opening it brand new like that Logitech cord.
Like I said, I'm happy with the Corsair performance, surface calibration, DPI adjustments, nothing is misclicking or frayed, and it looks gorgeous. I'm a happy camper.
Oh I agree with you, it's just annoying that there's no "off" switch. Although I am very happy that I can set the DPI lighting to turn off automatically when not being used, on my Logi g500s they were always illuminated.
What is angle snapping?
I've been using this mouse of eons and have never felt anything bad about it. Please explain.
>muh overpriced minimalism
>muh overpriced spaceships
>Whats a good replacement?
Just buy another one you dip
Looks solid. Waiting for reviews.
I'm glad I can turn mine off completely, I'm definitely not into LEDs strobing, doing rainbow patterns, or even just being on.
When moving your mouse above a certain speed, it "snaps" to certain angles of movement.
Older Logitech mice forced it on. Newer ones give you an option to toggle it on and off in the settings. Some people prefer it, some people hate it.
When you move your mouse left to right, it doesn't move in a straight horizontal line because of the nature of your arm, wrist, and finger actuation. Angle snapping uses software to smooth your horizontal motions to make them more of a straight line. Basically like AA but for side to side mouse motions.
Sounds good in theory but I don't like using it in games, I feel like it messes up my shots sometimes.
F
Mine still works after 8 years
I actually hate this mouse.
Like it's really good otherwise, but there's 2 huge flaws
A. Has plenty of small spaces that shit can get into. It's also made of material that shit like dead skin attaches to
B. THAT FUCKING OUTWARDS REACHING PIECE OF PLASTIC AT THE BOTTOM OF LEFT SIDE. If I ever tryhard in games and need to move the mouse fast, my thumb naturally slides to the bottom of the mouse for a better grip, and that plastic digs into my thumb
i've been using mine since 2008/2009 and all i've had to do is just replace the feet on it last year
no idea what i'll do when it dies
Ah that makes sense, thanks.
I do pixel art, so angle snapping sounds very useful to me. It explains why I'm able to draw straight lines easily. I guess I'm on of those few who actually benefits from angle snapping.
What are some mice that feel like the G500? Mine now randomly shuts off and reconnects, disabling it for like 5 seconds, which is really great when I'm trying to play vidya.
My nigga, just got done replacing the feet on mine a few weeks ago. Still not set on what mouse will replace it when it does go though.
Looks edgy as shit, is edgy as shit but it's also extremely functional. I have the index finger buttons mapped as next tab and previous tab buttons, so browsing the internet is a breeze.
Did a custom profile for the thing with Mouse 4&5 binded as left arrow and right arrow. Call it the fap mode, works wonders with exhentai.
Still going strong.
Looks gay as fuck, I need a mouse, not a tryhard Tron prop.
How big is it?
I'm currently using a G9 and it's a claw mouse. I'm looking to go back to a palm type.
I replaced my dead 518 with a Zowie EC1. It works without drivers (DPI and polling rate is done through buttons), the side buttons are kinda mushy and the top buttons have a lot of resistance (although that could just be because I'm used to using a mouse with 10 years of wear). Other than that it feels great to use, I recommend it.
But if you want something the exact same shape, get another Logitech.
Are LEDs enabled on Logitech mice enabled by default? Like, if I purchase a g403 when it's released, will I need to install the software just to turn the LEDs off? I hate installing additional bloatware just to control a fucking mouse.
I swapped my mx518 with a Deathadder. I know Razer is a meme brand, but honestly I like this mouse more. With the 518, I didn't like the sensitivity button being right below mid mouse button because I would sometimes hit it. Also, the wheel got stuck fairly frequently.
>Amazon
>always some fucking Pepe Ahmud Hussein's Computer Store
>one star trusted
>four weeks to deliver and +30€ shipping
The design on this mouse always makes it look like it's battered to hell in the pictures
I think it's fucking stupid that they're putting that shit even on the cheaper mouses. Feels like they're wasting money including that shit on there when they shouldn't.
What's a good mouse for someone looking to build a moderately priced rig (under $1000 usd) in the near future?
OP's pic is the best mouse ever made. I've bought two of them throughout my life time and they are all i've ever used since I discovered their glory.
>Buy a regular wireless mouse
>Works more than adequately because im not some Counter Strike try hard who thinks a mouse is holding back his genius skill
>He fell for the wired mouse meme
I do a lot of couch gaming and havent noticed the difference to warrant a cord dangling in people way. Battery needs to be changed once a year. Im sure thats even better by now
>g502
It looks like it'll cut my hand when I use it
