would've really liked more then 4 dlc, maybe a remaster on PS4
idk man the idea of east and west PS1-3 characters from goofy to serious in one game is exciting
we almost had Dart Feld and Abe, it would have been nice to see them playable
Aiden Johnson
Sony should just get namcobandai to make the sequel
Chase Gray
It needs a sequel with a bigger budget. That's all it fucking needs.

Ultimately, the biggest flaw with the game is that it feels like you're punching everyone around like a rag doll and there's effectively no real impact to your attacks- you're simply just building a meter for punching things gud.
It'd feel far more satisfying if there was something like a stun meter.
Carson Roberts
>Donte >Big papa Raiden is part of mgs so i guess its excusable i guess?
Kevin Brooks
I remember rumors that the development team wanted Dante, but Capcom bullied them into taking Donte to advertise the new game or they'd just get shit all
Jose White
sony is buddying up with activision so now adays i think Crash and Spyro have a high chance
Owen Perez
i like the sublte history of this game and Superbot lol
like no explanation for Issac or Zeus, Big Daddy is added because Ken asked for it in order to promote Infinite
Tekken was a big PS1 game, hes the only third party that really made sense
Chase Brooks
This game was really a missed opportunity. Instead of focusing on their own great IPs Sony had to go and get third party characters that weren't really relevant to their brand. I think if it didnt look exactly like smash people would have been more accepting and even excited for it. It should have been like dissidia or power stone. Not to mention simultaneous development on the vita making the game look graphically like ass. And supers were often lame... and this is from someone who bought the game day 1 and played the shit out of it for a very long time.
Aaron Jones
stages being a fusion of 2 games was a fucking AWESOME idea
Ayden Powell
smash suits the whole shtick better i think, i would've preffered it for a crossover game over dissida or power stone
i dont get the complaint either, its too much like smash so it should be more like these 2 other games?
Jose Howard
Pondering more on this idea
>High execution characters or characters with less options like Heihachi get high stun rate to compensate, resulting in easier kills for them >Low execution characters like Kratos or characters with tons of options like Kat get a lower stun rate, meaning they have to comparatively work pretty much just the same for kills, only they'll get an easy one if they're totally pounding the other player into the dirt >The addition of extra chances to kill reduces the time matches take, making it more stream friendly and less of a snore to watch >Comboing somebody into a stun just feels good, which alleviates the rag doll feeling the game has
I genuinely think a stun meter could be the bullet that saves the hypothetical sequel.
Julian Thompson
Biggest flaw was that it was soulless. It kinda tried to do what Smash does but fails miserably. If they ever do a sequel, they better put some people in working for it who actually love those characters.
Jordan Perez
I thought so too at first but it made the theatrics of stages feel repetitive and took away from the original theme. Plus it was almost always "big boss in background of stage invades" not to mention some lame mashup like mgs+loco roco and some series like god of war getting way overrepresented.
Jackson Bell
it felt pretty soulful to me, read the development of the game, the concept art, ect they really did try to make a cool as fuck game
the problem seemed to be more that sony stopped funding it well enough, and other bigwig studios wanted a chance at advertising
Jayden Long
>Smash Bros got fucking Cloud, Ryu and Bayonetta
Poor All-Stats, I sort of felt sorry for the game after that.
Oliver Cook
Well in general I mean an 3D arena fighter especially as sony helped pioneer 3d gaming so it makes more sense than a 2d fighter where almost none of the characters had ever been in a 2d game. Plus smash is the most normalfag comparison most people would make to a company crossover fighter so even if they copied another game a bit it would have seemed more unique. Because even though it played nothing like smash it looked like it and made it harder for the game to survive.
Adam Russell
I think the devs had plenty of love for the characters.
They just got shitty choices because Playstation doesn't have as much of a first party mascot library like Nintendo.
Nathan Drake's moveset is comprised of multiple unique things from Uncharted 1/2, such as the gas tank toss and the zipline, his dialogue is full of references to small lines in the series, and his story mode is uniquely intertwined with Sly Cooper's Thievius Racoonus, who is his rival in the story mode and a great similar character/foil for him.
But then you have to pick shit for the fucking black guy from Starhawk or whatever the fuck and of course the game's going to feel a bit fucking soulless.
Michael Howard
why would they get Ryu or Bayonettta?
around the time Bayonetta was wayyy more associated with X-Box, Tekken suited Playstation better then a SF rep, and well Square being a japanese company i didnt think they'd want any gaijin near their stuff no matter how much history Cloud has with Praystation
the Cloud thing did feel way more like a stab though
rumor was Lighting was gona show as DLC but DLC was canned anyway so idk
Leo Ramirez
Starhawk and Warkhawk were fucking fantastic games, is it their fault people only play super advertised triple AAA games
Levi Campbell
Wow I entirely forgot that this crap existed.
Gabriel Kelly
I'm not trashing Starhawk, I'm just saying that nobody's going to be exactly clamoring to play as "the new guy from this new game which we're releasing soon remember to buy it please"
Christopher Kelly
as dumb of a choice he was, Issac was fun af
Camden Wilson
Starhawk/Warhawk were out years before PSASBR though, and his dlc with Kat was pretty popular
the 2nd one not so much
Levi Green
>like no explanation for Issac or Zeus I will suppose Zeus because fucking God of War, I have no other idea why him tho He's my main as well.
Jonathan Thompson
Bayonetta sequel on the U which also came with Bayo1 she was also an extra in W101 along with Jeanne and Rodin SF 2 was on the SNES including a few of its updated versions let alone Capcom had Megaman in the game and Cloud I can't really give a reason other than FF started with Nintendo, good excuse to promote the franchise.
Grayson Howard
yeah but Bayonetta wasnt anything special on playstation, yeah Clouds one thing and Capcomc could give a better rep then shitty Dante
like have you played Bayo on Ps3 its the worse, it was always more of an xbox deal till nintendo got a hold of it
Camden Richardson
>has access to a massive list of IPs >didn't bother adding the likes of Blasto, Arc the Lad, Okage, Kinetica, Tokyo Jungle, Dual Hearts, Dark Cloud, Syphon Filter, etc >kill via super just makes the game into a meter building frenzy till you can get a chance to score a point unlike other games which feel like every hit is some form of guaranteed progress to kill
They could have done better with it.
John Morgan
>Dual Hearts, Dark Cloud, Syphon Filter, etc >expecting every weeb game ever
we could have had Dart if that makes you feel better
Julian Allen
we could have had a more intresting variety as dlc i think, we were gona get abe from Oddworld and Legend of Dragoons Dart (who i really demanded)
Brandon Martin
>syphon filter >weeb
William Murphy
I really hope for a sequel where they actually care about the roster, and let Namco Bandai or something make the game and not a newly founded studio
Zachary Turner
>Smash Bros. got Snake and Cloud but PSABR didn't
Jaxson Rodriguez
>They just got shitty choices because Playstation doesn't have as much of a first party mascot library like Nintendo.
They have plenty
They just refused to use them in favor of the current roster of characters from the PS3 gen
A game like this is the perfect opportunity to reintroduce old characters and games to the public.
Ayden Cruz
Sony should just actually INVEST in it next time.
Joshua Price
...
Benjamin Foster
I like the idea of Kat as Spike's babysitter
Thomas Thomas
This, Jumping Flash was one of the earlist 3D platformers and it was in first person but they never brought it up.
Kayden Russell
I respectfully disagree. My main complaint presentation wise is the announcer being bland as fuck and the menu screen looking like a cheap budget bargain bin movie tie in game. If the presentation felt more professional I might have enjoyed the game more.
Lincoln Rodriguez
The menu made the game look like a bootleg or something.
Ethan Diaz
Fire Emblem and Kid Icarus was never big with normies until the first Smash game came out. In that regards Rudy from Wild Arms would have been an equivalent character in terms of popularity. It's Superbot's fault for not digging deeper into Sony's catalogue. Or possibly Sony's fault for rushing the game out instead of giving Superbot enough time and support to put together a quality roster.
Aaron Jenkins
i think normies are the problem with Sony's characters: the reason why Nathan Drake and Kratos are more popular is because they have wideer appeal despite being bad characters, while something like Kat and Sir Daniel happen to live under a shadow.
Gavin Walker
Sony sucks at managing their own IPs.
Robbit is a great character design and should have been the mascot of the PlayStation.
But no, Sony is too retarded for doing cool stuff like that, instead they dissolved the dev studio who made Jumping Flash (who was an older developer who used to make cool games for japanese computers) and never used Jumping Flash again except for re-release on PSN.
Also OP, how the fuck can you obsess over this game? I'd understand if you'd obsess over the idea of a sequel or something, but it would need to be made by another developer and with a different direction. Just fucking copy Smash entirely. The game felt amateurish, and I hated most of the roster.
Evan James
Honestly Sony would have been better off facilitating a crossover anime fighting game/Smash clone. Forget fucking Nathan Drake or even Crash Bandicoot. Make a game with Neptune, Rorona, Etna, Tifa, Chie and whole bunch of other waifu bait characters from Sony related jrpgs. The aesthetics would be a lot more consistent and I'm sure waifufags would buy ten copies each.
Then they'd alienate their non-weeb audience, which is big in Europe and other western regions.
This was just a quick cash grab. Smash Bros. worked because it didn't came to be as a nintendo all-star game, it started development as an original game, the nintendo crossover idea came after the game design was complete. Sony is not going to waste resources trying to compete with Smash, they're better at other areas.
Leo White
Alissa from God Eater
Julian Sanders
Good, good, are the more?
Matthew Wright
They could had also get an art style for the characters.
Camden Rogers
Use actual anime girls that were in video games. Nami's model from Pirate Warrriors 2, Misaka from Attack on Titan game, Leafa from those SAO games. If they can pull off the licensing that's probably more star power than all of PS All Stars combined.
Eli Parker
You'll get fembusters instead
Charles Scott
Sony should do a super Mario crossover type game just like the one for PC where they have a bunch of characters play through the entirety of crash 3 or somethinf
Brandon Murphy
You mean that flash game with Mega Man and Contra in it?
Daniel Lee
Leaker on NeoFAG with a good record regarding Sony shit says that a sequel more akin to Powerstone is in the early stages of development.
Joseph Jackson
Is Dante at least an alternate costume for Donte.
Lucas Clark
>out of curiously look up all the franchises owned by Sony >so much fucking garbage like Resogun and Entwined Why aren't they making an effort to develop more first party AAA games?
Jason Baker
Yea that one. Why didn't Nintendo capitalize on that idea? That would have been goat
Xavier Brooks
>Wanting Nintendo knowing about this fan game
Shut up, or it'll be next.
Matthew Perez
I really love the game I just wish the game had more characters
