>play the fuck out of dynasty warriors as a kid and teenager >life eventually takes me to china >host asks if i am interested in chinese history >awwww yeaaaah, time to flex years and years of video games >mention how i thought cao cao was a very interesting historical figure >host has no fucking idea what i am talking about >host has no fucking idea what wu, shu, and wei are
>every single fucking name in dynasty warriors is horrifically, abominably mispronounced >cao cao is actually fucking tsau tsau
It's a video game made by Japanese, they do have a habit of pronouncing chinese names differently or something like that (I know in Bleach Soi Fon is actually Sui Feng). You should also always be careful with things you learn from video games, they are not known for accuracy.
Leo Smith
They actually corrected cao cao's name pronunciation in the more recent DW games english dubs.
Best warring kingdoms leader will always be known as cow cow to me, though.
Josiah Hall
A dike?
Levi Perry
>Faaaather, let MEEEE have the forefront.
Logan Rodriguez
he's just a historical revisionist who hates his country
Cooper Diaz
Is DW8 Empires really that bad? What was wrong with it? I have DW7E and love conquering the land and using strategems in battles. What other Empire games are with picking up?
Robert Lee
I liked 8E. Starting your own coup was pretty cool
Isaac Carter
It was my first DW game and I loved it still trying to plat it as well. Its a good game.
Luis Kelly
Why did KT make Ascension a separate fucking game? they should of just released it as dlc for Sphere of Influence. 50 dollars for just officer play and improved battles is way to much.
Joshua White
is that shit out?
Jaxon Foster
Chinese history, as told by the Japanese. That would be like reading an American history book made in Russia.
Cooper Garcia
DW8E just got repetitive for me. No matter what role I tried to play it felt like I was just doing the same shit over and over. DW7E didn't feel like that for some reason, maybe just because it was my first Empires game.
Jason Roberts
>Not wanting top tier food >Not wanting to get easy jobs because of your race >Not wanting 10/10 virgin girls that will throw themselves at you. You don't know shit about china and you best shut your fucking mouth.
Lucas Long
>cao cao is actually fucking tsau tsau I bet you pronounce Cao Pi as cow pee.
Nicholas Jackson
lmfaorntbqhwy
Carson Thomas
Because if you knew chinese history, you need to follow the Cantonese style of pronunciation. Beijing is a relatively new capital, and Cantonese was the written and spoken dialect until the Ming Dynasty.
Jaxson Taylor
You deserved it for not saying Sun Jian you faggot.
Wyatt Ramirez
>He didn't get all his pronunciations from three kingdoms Serves you right.
Joshua Taylor
Cow pie you moron
Ryder Reyes
Should I pick up DW8XL on PS3 or should I wait until I get a PS4 in the future one day eventually? How big of a difference is it?
>top tier food this is true >easy jobs this is true >10/10 virgin girls not true, try 5-6/10 girls with mental problems
Robert Sullivan
>How big of a difference is it? Everything Dragon Warriors 8 related sucked.
In order to compensate for the similar graphics to the PS4 version, they rendered FAR less enemies at any given time. The PS3 version of Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires is just sad.
Luke Jackson
Is that fucking mr garrison
Brandon Watson
>top tier food >true Don't chinese eat plastic trash and shit like that? Tell me more, user. I'm curious. Also China looks dangerous as fuck, I wouldn't take a job there even if they pay me a lot.
Cameron Myers
That was an amazing series.
Easton Jackson
Reminder Lianshi is the bestest girl and thank god she doesnt use the xbow anymore.
Joseph Price
She got the duck hooks in 8E, right? Who is going to use the crossbow now?
Luis Edwards
Nobody, like the standard sword, and Wang Yi's forks.
Brayden Young
It makes no sense that they would give the DLC weapons to people who have original weapons
Colton Edwards
Dynasty Warriors 5 when they introduced Cao Pi is when they fixed the pronunciations.
Alexander Edwards
Chinese food is as vast as the sea, can't really generalize it. Sichuan is spicy, Hebei is half-Russian, Guangdong is all the stuff you see in Chinatown. If you want something you can find easily and is guaranteed to be good, just grab a Peking duck.
I have a lot of family in China so I go back sometimes, I don't really like it much there to be honest. The cities are dreadful. But it's not dangerous, so don't worry about that.
Daniel Flores
it released on PC on like the 25th. It has mixed reviews, but apparently thats from an extremely buggy released and every thing has been allegedly fixed. It looks like a solid expansion, just not a 50 dollar one.
Caleb Allen
Are any of the characters made up or are they all historic figures? I had assumed people who had "?-?" for birth and death dates were made just for the game but then I found out Wang Yi was real (and fuck her story is cool).
Austin Richardson
>Hebei Whoops, I meant to type Harbin.
There ain't shit up north anyway, though.
Easton Jackson
CowCow was so great in this, sima yi too. i fucking hate the diaochan shit and it really turns into a slog for a while after cowcow is kill. zhuge liang in the rain was priceless tho
Luis Gonzalez
Most of them are real, but their deeds are exaggerated, misrepresented, or straight made up.
Off the top of my head I know Bao Sanniang, and Guan Suo are fictional, other characters like Xingcai are a combination of two or more actual people.
Matthew Morris
I can't remember but is that the one that lets me be a bandit and shit or is the the ROTK powerup kit
Evan Garcia
Most are real but a lot of them isn't historically accurate obviously. Diaochan is fictional iirc and some 1~2 others.
Julian Russell
The game is based on a fictional story, based vaguely on a historical event. Most characters can be traced back to reality, I think some were made entirely by the story.
Colton Cooper
Where were you when Cao Cao slayed the beast known as Lu Bu?
Austin Morales
i was sat home at xuchang when messagner come 'lubu is kill' 'no' and you?
NA is set in japan and I don't believe there is a way to be a bandit, unless thats some secret feature in ascension. Your probably thinking of a ROTK game but I've never played those so I wouldn't know which ones let you be a bandit.
Elijah Diaz
>mfw /eagg/ is dead
That general and the pre split war gaming general were the best generals on /vg/.
John Butler
I know about the difference, but from what I understand Ascension was coming out and some power up kit was coming out as well and I liked the features of one of em, doesn't really seem like Ascension is the one I was hyped for
Adam Nelson
I ended deleting Nobunagas Ambition and RotTK 13.
Why are these games so boring?, wish there were more events tailored for my special snowflake faction. I guess I'm playing them wrong since I always start my own faction and try to not touch anything so I don't fuck up with history, but the ambition grows on me and I can't help ruining the whole thing. Wish the games would create custom stories for me and jerk me 24/7
Ayden Green
dw6 was the start of shit dynasty warriors game and 7 was terrible
Josiah Wood
When did it die? I was looking for it a while back and didn't see it. Broke my heart. Almost as bad as when I finally bought Dragon's Crown the week the general died.
William Morris
what happened with the character designs in DW6? Some officers just look plain silly
Blake Torres
Their names are pronounced literally hundreds of different ways across chinese history
Landon Morris
But 7 and 8 are excellent. And I've been playing since 2 or the first Musou game.
Cooper Fisher
>RotTK 13 How in God's name do you clear the Zhuge Liang missions in historical mode? The time limits are just too short.
Nathan Foster
7 is the best in the series, you fucking pleb
Josiah Cox
This.
Brody Myers
you don't
Logan Baker
Who was the best warrior? and why is it Zhang Liao
I mean he was the only one who's historical self went full Musou
Jonathan Butler
>However, Zhang Liao fought fiercely and succeeded in breaking out of the encirclement. When his remaining men who were still trapped inside shouted, "Has our general abandoned us?" Zhang Liao turned back and punched through layers of enemy soldiers to save his men, eventually succeeding in bringing them out. Sun Quan's men were stunned by Zhang Liao's valour and did not dare to stand in his way.
