^ What he said, also titanite slab.
fuck is that place unsettling though
To be incomplete but still in the game anyways like tons of other areas.
I think it's supposed to show the World Tree design of the world. Or that the gray lands of the Age of Ancients mentioned in the intro still exist
Secret place with drama and free slab
Getting that sick dragon form for oneshot backstabs.
atmosphere and lore and best music
>tfw you go down there without the lordvessel and rest at the bonfire
Most retarded thing I've ever done in a Souls game
It blew my mind when i first entered there.
Its still undeveloped content, because DaS was supposed to have an actual storyline
DaS2 does have a storyline and its actually good.
DaS3 has nothing, not even lore
it's show what the age of the ancients was like
To show you that the world you play in is literally built upon the ashes of the old one
I did that first playthrough because the messages were hinting to destroy the illusion wall.
Hardest part was getting cursed in the great hollow.
Ash lake is complete though.
Not much. But it's an awesome place and I'm glad I found it on a blind playthrough.
>I know exactly what's undeveloped and what's not, my uncle is FromSoftware
t. DaS2 was my first Souls game cuck
what happens if you do that?
You have to ascend the Great Hollow.
>Tfw went to Tomb of the Giants's second bonfire without the Lordvessel
>Tfw having to fight my way back to the surface
I thought the second bell would be under the catacombs.
I was very, very wrong.
i think they made the area to simply contain the majesty of the soundtrack, it's too big to go elsewhere and it's too good to leave out
>What was the point of this place?+ 0 post omitted.
Reference to a movie/manga called Naushicaa of the Valley of Wind.
It was the only peaceful place, it was pure innocence in a world filled with death and despair.
To get promotions.
Is that actually possible?
Yes, but it's pretty difficult and confusing.
That seems like a huge reach.
Yes and it's a fucking pain in the dick
I went down there early to get the shit but didn't realize what a pain climbing up would be
Fuck up your sense of scale and really make you think.
I didn't play 2 or 3, did they ever revisit the place in those games?
To look really cool and make you wish there was more to it.
Huh, really makes you think.
nope. wish it was though
>That death run at like level 20
>that one branch that if you fucked up on you'll fall to your death and lose your souls
>Those hydras
>Those clams
Thank god I had a bunch of souls to consume, because post patch would have been pointless.
Seriously fuck that one branch, especially when going back up.
Not really, it's actually a common fucking knowledge. There are even comparison screens if you google enough. Hell, if you google "Naushicaa underground lake", Dark Souls screenshot is going to be the third on the fucking display.
Dead underground forest of trees that are holding the celing, beneath a toxic and poisoned swamp, with a lot of clear water and sand. Yeah, totally does not sound alike.
It leads to the Hunter's Dream
It's a remnant of the original age before the Fire.
Also shows the Eternal stone dragon and his covenant. Which explains where Dragons come from.
It's very Lore important.
it's Nausicaa, not Naushica, you retard
Not according to Hepburn romanization it's not.
Are you retarded?
>not running down there ASAP from firelink to get dragon head, cloranthy ring and great club
step it up senpai
>it's Nausicaa, not Naushica, you retard
it's NausicaƤ, not Nausicaa, you retard
:^)
Is it a sickdark movie?
>best music
my nigga
youtube.com
Because Japanese doesn't have a "si" sound, only a "shi". It's romanized how the nips would say it, but even they can't pronounce the name correctly
Isn't that obvious? She's holding a gun
Not really. It's post apocalyptic though. The manga is a lot darker than the movie, and actually has some nearly lovecraftian elements to it. The movie is mostly kids friendly, one or two major massacres not withstanding.
To enjoy it
very spooky place with the jumping hydra desu
Only the parts with this thing.
Ruined by the hydra honestly.
It had a great atmosphere that made you feel like you've found something that transcends the above world. Then From throws a big dumb monster in (and not even a unique big dumb monster) and ruins it.
I thought this was actually what Ultraman looks like when he grew big or something. Underneath the outfit.
Wasn't the hydra supposed to imply that Darkroot and Ash Lake are connected?
The whole point of that level is that you meet a big dumb monster that gives you access to a secret covenant.
>made you feel like you've found something that transcends the above world
That's precisely why dragons still exist here.
Nah it's pretty cute.
I actually did that before I got megamule, but when I first learned of the glitch I would naturally work my way to blighttown.
sneks like hydra descend from the dragons you stupid fuck
The dragon npc was fine.
The hydra is dumb.
I really have no idea what the words "Ultra-Man" are doing there, to be honest. The signs right beneath it say properly "giant divine warrior".
The movie isn't exactly cute. And the manga is downright disturbing at times.
Great Hollow - ends in dead end
Tomb of Giants - ends in dead end
Crystal Cave - ends in dead end
Anor Londo - ends in dead end
Lost Izalith - ends in dead end
Then people complain that Dark Souls 2 levels are dead ends
>Great Hollow - ends in dead end
Same. After that I went to New Londo until I ran out of those hands. I totally forgot about the door at the dragon bridge
Hey, it's All Might.
people will bitch about anything if they dislike the game it's in
the most hilarious is people saying DS2 looks like shit when it looks about on par with the original
It's the tutorial area in DS2
Oh wait I mean Ash Lake
?????????
They're pretty similar.
I like how this covenant wasn't something exactly easily found early on in the game.
It really doesn't, unless you're a consolecuck.
There's a bunch of giant trees rising from a lake
>I didn't play 2 or 3, did they ever revisit the place in those games?
I don't recall seeing it in 2, but it's in 3 demons had a civilisation down there, you see the corpse of the Fair Lady and potentially her friend, there's a giant worm hanging around and undeads are looking over the place, probably holding the line because it's right below the catacombs. The boss of the area is a very old demon whose son got killed by the prince of the kingdom, and when he's close to die he pretty much fizzle out and gives up.
so comey just killed this bitch's campaign, right?
...
What the fuck is that?
>sickdark
What the fuck does that even mean? Examples?
And no, Nausicaa is a great film, its my favourite ghibli film. Its basically an animated kids sci fi/shonen about a girl who's good with nature wants to save her land during a conflict
>>What the fuck does that even mean? Examples?
Berserk, Dark Souls, Game of Thrones, Bloodborne, Metal album covers, Witcher you know shit where teenagers say "whoa, sick bro, so dark, dude... brutal, hardcore"
>What the fuck does that even mean? Examples?
Meme term that refers to the type of extremely dark fiction that features no motives of hope, usually Lovecraftian-style aesthetics and or/plague imagery. It really has been mostly coined in association with Bloodborne.
Also, the movie is good, the manga is about ten times better. The movie has been actually really neutered compared to the source material. Miyazaki is at his best when he goes off-the-wall dark, actually, but for some reason he purposefully censors himself in movies.
This is one of the two where she fucks insects right? Excellent art and coloring. Not my taste but I'm honestly impressed someone put that much effort into their fetish.
Is there really a need to have such a specific term? I mean there's already the grimdark stuff.
It's a joke really. Someone coined it years ago when shitposting about Bloodborne.
>Is there really a need to have such a specific term?
No. Of course not. Just like we don't need twenty or thirty different "punks" around, we don't need nobledark and grimdark and sickdark and noblebright and sickbright either. It's all bullshit. But people like to pretend like they are savvy about shit without having to really think about anything and argue about meaningless words, so that is how we got it.
This genre terminology has always been utter bullshit.
what the FUCK happened to moot
At all of those places you either get a Lordvessel showing a cutscene where to go next or a Lord Soul, so it's pretty clear where to go next. Might as well add the Abyss to that.
The only times I actually felt disappointed in reaching a dead end was in Ash Lake and after defeating Manus in the Chasm of the Abyss.
literally who
>sickdark
thats not a thing, thats just some word a faggot just made up
For example rainy cities at night
So you mean just like any other word.
Nah, the dead end at Ash Lake was brilliant. It's supposed to be the lost "bottom of the world." It's amazing that you got down there in the first place. It would ruin it if there was an elevator or ladder that lead the way up.
whoops
awful bait.
I like DS2 but the levels are shit, not only in placement but in design as well.
