Falkreath. A little out of the way, less well-defended than the major holds. But not as likely to be visited by the Dragonborn and thus, not as likely to suffer dragon attacks.

Comfy green forest area and the worst I'll have to deal with is bandits and animals. Though there is that murdering scum in the cells to deal with.

Easily, tho I would travel to Whiterun through river to avoid wolfs and do fun stuff in there.

I'd want to live in Markarth because it's the coolest city but it's also the most dangeorus and corrupt city so being a guard there would be awful.
