you know what really bothered me about skyrim's civil war is how it seemingly has no effect on skyrim

half the story focuses on the central or neutral locations, and most if not all key characters are neutral, plus the whole civil war is irrelevant to the dragonborn thing

then you get down to it and both sides don't seem to interested in taking over skyrim, they just kind of want to take the tiny ass camps the opposition has, you'd figure that the imperials would want control of things like whiterun but they don't really seem to care that people can outright resist their rule

then there's the total lack of effect it has on skyrim itself, there's plenty of healthy young guys running around uncaring, entire villages where the only impact it has is "what do you think of the war", and the brutality of a civil war(heads on pikes, parading dead people, rooting out "traitors") is totally absent
