i've never played oblivion, should i do it now or is it sort of dated? also post oblivion shit

It's still worth a go. The NPC models are potato but Oblivion still has some of the absolute best quests in the series, especially the Guild questlines.
...
Requesting a kind user to post the chart of how to mod it well (i.e best mods)
To answer your question OP, Oblivion will always be my favourite Betheseda game. The quests are the most memorable. Main quest is alright but the guilds are fantastic. As for dated, you can mod it to look great. I'd recommend it over skyrim to be honest.
This chart was outdated and not worth following when it was made. I don't recommend following it.
Use character overhaul, and it'll be fineee,
nexusmods.com
hmm, do you have an updated version then?
It's better than nothing.....right?
Just make sure you download a bunch of graphic mods. It's worth playing for the dark brotherhood and SI questline alone.
I saw a mudcrab the other day
my blog with guides broke so no.
not really. it's just that guide doesn't cover essentials at all really and recommends fcom which is bad news.

i prefer doing first playthroughs unmodded, unless the mods dont impact gameplay too much
what graphics mods do you recommend?

I like the game with just OOO, Unnecessary Violence III (a martial arts mod that adds more stuff to combat), and Supreme Magicka (magic buff and tons of additions).
I don't know about any race mods very much though. Any cool race packs? I tried race rebalancing project (which adds a bunch of races in addition to its goals) but it changed so many of the vanilla race concepts to be completely not what they were for, and it tries to be a magicka fix for some godforsaken reason too even though every other fix is better, more interesting and more fun.
I FUCKING love Oblivion. But i think that's more because i'm blinded by nostalgia. Tbh the combat is bad, graphics are outdated and animations are straight up shit. But if you can look past that and enjoy the atmosphere and the calm soundtrack that this game offers, then you're good to go. I would suggest playing it on a rainy lazy saturday evening or something, when you're all by yourself and noone is there to take you out of it.
seeI like what WAC does to NPCs the best, gives them beards and really cool gear.
Basically though just get MBP++ for pretty much every race mod crammed into one.
No. Just like with GTA games, if you're underage enough to have missed the previous installment, there really is no reason for you to go back and play it, because they're all basically the same anyway.
WHO GOES THERE

...
does it have any good lighting mods that dont make it run like ass?
Morrowind > Oblivion > Skyrim
start with All Natural and go from there, your options are:
a. obge 3.0
b. enb
c. oblivion reloaded
d. reshade/sweetfx
e. a combination of these, though enb only works with c and d I believe, if that
>"i've never played oblivion"
play it right now, stop asking questions about it
>tfw you'll never experience the thieves guild and dark brotherhood questlines for the first time again
...
>tfw I was too scared to go to dungeons, so I never got far in the game past quests that didn't make you go to dungeons, therefore I can replay my favorite game in a long time and not know anything

...
>too scared to go to dungeons
but that's like half the game
Music is too loud. Can hardly hear words.

Exactly
I have half the game I never played.
You'd be surprised how many quests I did get through though
Bork'd shlong time?

Anybody know how to play the game with a Xbox controller that works? 360 or One
wow oblivion look like a good game
CMON NOW THERE'S NO NEED TO GET VIOLENT

Were you scared of all dungeon types (caves, ayelid temples, etc.), or just the dungeon type dungeons?
Pretty much anything that was dark and seemed ominous
...
If I found out the kind of person who would do this to Oblivion I'd kick their shit in.
Parts of it will seem outdated.
Combat is clunkier than Skyrim. There are less dungeons and the few in the game mostly look the same. Quests/Guilds are more interesting though.
NPC's still do that "Stare into your Soul" every time you talk to them, this got removed in Skyrim.
What? Make it a better game?
Oblivion is easily my favourite Bethesda game, (this does not mean it is the best Bethesda game, that belongs to Morrowind in my opinion) it is so comfy, it has a very serene soundtrack, beautiful open world and a fantastic range of quests and side characters to fall in love with. For me it will always be better than Skyrims bland environment, and poor side characters, it also feels like a more cohesive world that Skyrim did for me.
If you want a fun experience in the last true Elder Scrolls RPG then play Oblivion, modded or not it is magificent.
9/10
>all this weebshit people keep posting
Disgusting, go play a jrpg or something instead.

Good good, you're already in character
That would be terrible in every way.

Sounds like this poorfag is jealous his toaster can't run cute mods.
...
It's the same controls as Skyrim on console.
It's bad. Just play it on PC.
...
MODS MODS MODS REEEEMOVE THESE FUCKING IMAGES FUCKING CHRIST
Its not for me, its for a friend who wants to play it on PC with a controller
To be fair, controllers are a lot more comfy for a game like Oblivion than a keyboard/mouse, if it works right.
I just wanna know if the controller works right, because I looked and Ive heard it doesn't

The AI in Oblivion is way better than it is in Skyrim. If you hit somebody to make them hostile and then try to talk to them while blocking they'll stop and go "don't do that shit again". The best thing though is that enemies are smarter, if something like a rock or a barrel is blocking their way they will prioritize getting around the obstacle first before charging at you again, and they even make defensive maneuvers without giving you huge openings.
The quests are also better, and you're not stuck fighting draugr or bandits in dungeons all the time either.
...
...
To be fair, you shouldn't follow "to be fair" with actual bullshit that no one but you believes.

Jesus fucking Christ I thought my old Skyrim ENB was bad in 3rd person on horseback
>tfw craptop from 2012 still gives me slowdowns and other issues running modded Oblivion
Guys stop posting screenshots I am getting jealous
i thought i was the only one who played Wizard101
Make sure to give Oblivion a sane non-broken XP scheme before you start

Whats the mod for the HP, Fatigue, and Magic?
>you'll never have your own dwemer airship
HUD Status Bars. It's one of multiple options. UVIII uses its flexible settings to make its own stuff too so it's just a good mod to have.

It was one of my first ps3 games, but I played it for like 30 minutes and couldn't get into it (I was even worse of a casual than I am today)... played skyrim like 2 years after it came out, liked it, went along the same path with fallout 3/nv so I was like 'what the fuck I'll probably enjoy oblivion too' so i started playing again. Kinda liking it, but being able to fast travel anywhere I want without having visited the place previously is such a turn off. Triggers my autism

>ps3, consolefag, muh mods, etc.
Missing one final screen where 10minutes later you're bored and uninstall the whole thing. That's how it goes these days anyway it seems.
I own Knights of the Nine on a disc, came with all the other dlc too. Shivering Isles is on a different box also..
