I bought stalker soc today and played for a few hours and i gotta say im fucked from how substantial the firefights are. Not every shot hits directly, you need to fire pretty aggressively to land a few shots.. Shotguns from a distance wont hit a target at all.

But when enemies do go down that shit feels fucking GOOD cause the fire exchanging and cover taking were LEGIT, whereas in fo4 you shoot some shit and watch its health bar decrease with each shot until a bloddy explosion happens XDDD.

Stalker enemies are truly actually smart and will succeed in making you think "where the fuck did this nigger go???"

How is this shit is 10 years old and manages to take a shit on fo4?

why aren't developers paying attention to this shit and implementing it themselves?

we'll never get another stalker game are we :(

>How is this shit is 10 years old and manages to take a shit on fo4?
backwards progress, perceived diminishing returns
>why aren't developers paying attention to this shit and implementing it themselves?
the majority of consumers don't give a shit about it, just want a self insert sandbox
>we'll never get another stalker game are we :(
probably not, even after GSC finish the new Cossacks.

I also replayed vanilla SoC lately. The combat can be a little wonky but it's satisfying as fuck to drop some niggas after you've found a dece weapon.

>why aren't developers paying attention to this shit and implementing it themselves?
Because it's easier and more profitable to pander to casuals and streamline everything.

I just beat it today for the first time and got one of the bad ends. It was pretty shitty.

The game itself was pretty fun, but it's draining, I don't think I'll play it again any time soon, but I enjoyed my time with it.

Is it actually true that playing on master is the only way to play the game?

I'm currently playing on veteran and I'm enjoying the fuck out of it, but sometimes I feel the enemies are a bit bullet sponge-y

I nearly shit a brick when I came across the controller in the tunnel the first time

yes

>Not every shot hits directly, you need to fire pretty aggressively to land a few shots

That's really only the case at the start of the game. Once you get out of a specific sewer section you'll land yourself an assault rifle with a scope and hit everything with ease.

They dont make games like this anymore and probably never will.

OP here

im playing on master and i love it

it makes me more careful and i find that more immersive

im fine with that as it does make sense

>mfw that fucking controller
Jesus Christ it was frightening. I unloaded a full magazine into it and it did nothing, all I could do was run as fast as possible out of there while my vision was going to shit and I had no idea how far behind me it was.
>mfw went back to get the secret stash, wasn't surprised by it but still spooked as fuck

>hadnt found pda note before opening stash
>stash is empty
:/

>X-18

It's been a relatively easy ride since but Jesus that was a crawl.

Stashes are randomly generated when looting corpses

The Zone will always be there, Stalker. If you haven't tried it on Master difficulty yet I highly recommend it.

How do people get the bad endings? Do you all just rush through the game and not bother checking about trying to meet with the Doctor or doing any of the side missions?

> tfw you made it your head canon that the red forest was the point of no return and before entering you stacked up cash for an exo suit and lots of ammo to play one of the greatest army of one sequences ever

>mfw using the vintar bc from long range and watching the individual bullet models hit and kill enemies
never understood why people shit on the gunplay in stalker, it's god tier

exoskeleton is fucking useless in SoC and you can just find them at the NPP anyway.

In vanilla SoC combined with at least 2 bullet resistant artifacts you can barely survive a gauss round

>Stalker enemies are truly actually smart
I guess if your frame of reference for FPS is Fallout fucking four they are.

Maybe if you get lucky and not get shot in the head, I swear when playing on master enemies literally only do headshots which always has me getting killed in a shot or 2.

I loved stalker from the 40 hours or so I played but once I got deep in the zone I just noped out of the game, I'm no sissy and I haven't dropped a game since I was 4 but just the grating fucking anxiety of this game is dreadful.

maybe it's my mind, my senses fucking with me or the fact that I do a lot of drugs but between poltergeists and the ambience howls..that cacophony of death and danger

great game but fuck you

Is there a reason why the AI is all over the place in terms of how good they are?
Most of the time it's pretty typical with a lot of idiots, but then you'll observe off in the distance some next level tactical shit.

This game made me appreciate immersion and the environment more than any other game. I mean even at the time of release the graphics and animation looked dated and it was buggy as hell and yet I was completely sucked in.

>tfw when you'll never play SOC for the first time ever again. When you don't know what to expect when you leave Freedom lines to assault the brain scorcher and Prypriat.

Funny thing about STALKER's difficulty levels. It raises the damages for both your and the NPC's guns.

That's why they seem like bullet sponges if you first played the game on normal or STALKER or what ever the middle ground is.

>Getting to the one rundown building with the wounded guy getting attacked by wild dogs at night when it's storming
>Going through the Labs and the Scorcher the first time
>Going anywhere at night when it's storming for the first time
Those lightning strikes, man.

There were multiple times I got outplayed by these fucks. Being outflanked and ambushed by the ai while you wait for them is some serious shit. 300 hours in SoC and they still surprise me.

My ears started to hurt so bad.

name another PC game where NPCs are smart like in stalker because im interested

That's completely backwards, your damage is actually a bit lower on Master.

Crysis

Monolith did nothing wrong

Master makes both you and enemies die really fast. Lower difficulties make enemies bullet sponges.

>mfw stalkers just walk right into anomalies and die
>mfw I find bandits and stalkers dead on lit oil barrels and camp fires
>mfw they're "experienced"

Thanks for the free diet sausages and handguns I guess. I actually got an ak and couple grenades this way.

>yfw you can take cover behind a tree and elite Spetsnaz soldiers will just slowly work in your sights one by one instead of trying to surround you working as a team or use grenades

kek

Monolith literally were modeled after Jehovah Witnesses

I did master on my first playthrough since I noticed that too to confirm it was real after reading about it on Sup Forums. Headshots pretty much kills anyone on master and backstabs as well, stabbing even kills bloodsuckers in 1 hit if you hit them right.

>Roadside Picnic book
>cover is a poster for Stalker movie, which barely even has anything with the book

>See controller for the first time
>What the fuck am I looking at?
>Lob every single grenade I have at it until it drops dead

enemies can't use grenades in vanilla soc

The game was made with Hardcore shooters in mind. Also with the RPG elements they could get away with a lot of things, specially balance which is set by difficulty and not by gear.
>Shotguns from a distance won't hit a target
Try different Ammo.

Reminder that there are women in the Zone.

NON CANON
ZONE IS FOR MEN

Nah. There's also one STALKER that tells you how a Spetsnaz soldier in a exoskeleton suit kicked his ass and it turned out to be a woman.
I didn't screen cap that one though.

Cheeky breeky pryama v damke

That not true. What is increased is bullet registration on master.

>What is increased is bullet registration on master.
Player character bullet registration is not affected by difficulty setting. NPC is, though.
