I need some cyberpunk vidya. Preferably something that feels alive and very dystopian.
E.Y.E is a fine game but it's just so fucking dead outside the "lobby" area. There's no civvies or anything going on in the streets, just 100 aimbotting NPC's and not-Cyberdemons.
Shadowrunner is alright but I'm not fond of the emphasis on magic, elves and orcs. I'm fine with some psi-ability stuff but that's a bit too fantasy for me.
>falling for the polack hype train when will the plebs leave?
Sebastian Anderson
Played that a gorillion times. It's my favourite game but I'm looking for something that also "looks" more cyberpunk. Deus Ex looks very, very modern in that regard.
It's the one game I want to play before I hang myself so I'm patiently waiting.

Starbreeze's Syndicate has nice sound design, if you don't mind linear shooters
Jordan Ramirez
I actually sort of liked that game. It was far too heavy on the bloom however. And perhaps a bit too linear, but it had a lot of potential. Even the story was going somewhere interesting but I fucking hate that they railroaded you into becoming the good guy. I wanted to stick with EuroCorp. for fucks sake.
The original Syndicate games are fantastic too.
Zachary Johnson
Its a fucking nightmare to find games in the genre. There's one game from the late 90s, maybe early 2000s where you play as some black techno-wizard. I don't even know if its real anymore. There's also System Shock which certainly takes place in a cyberpunk universe but it itself is a lot more sci-fi due to taking place on a fucking boat amongst a bunch of little lights and rocks.
You could try something from the floppy generation. I always forget the name but its something of the Dragon. Its basically Blade Runner with some fairly janky gameplay.
Ayden Torres
Now most of those things are in the palm of your hand, rendered obsolete by the march of time.
Asher Cooper
it's a shitty game but you can play mirror's edge catalyst for cyberpunk feelings on origin access for 5 shekels.
Matthew King
Hard Reset then? Though it's basically Painkiller in cyber-skin.
Julian Green
Looks fun but is there really no game akin to EYE/Deus Ex with an on-going open world? As much as I love killing dudes with no remorse at the speed of sound (see: Doom 1/2) I would like some variety.
Julian Powell
Nightlong
It's a good cyberpunk themed point and click adventure.
Justin Turner
Maybe try looking into some older JRPGs? Or hell, you might be able to find a few DOS games if you look. Its one of my favourite genres but its really not all that common. If we're lucky Cyberpunk 2077 will lead a bit of a push in the right direction for it but no promises there.
You could always just google cyberpunk games if you're willing to take all comers.
Carson Miller
Probably not - at least, the good ones (as their open worlds and game mechanics take a lot of time to develop, tweak and balance.
The best course of action would be searching by the Cyberpunk tag on Steam - might find something interesting.
Didn't play these, but heard people enjoying it: Satellite Reign Shadowrun
Unlike shitty Steampunk it's not just an aesthetic.
Hudson Anderson
Steampunk would become an even worse shitheap if it started to get an ideology. A bunch of autistic dark enlightenment fags larping with gears and tophats.
Ian Hill
>Satellite Reign
Completely fucking forgot I had that. And I have Mike Diskett (lead programmer) on my friendlist.
Caleb Torres
I suspect Steam won't suggest you to play Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, although its "Stark" bits, especially in second half of the game, might potentially scratch that cyberpunk itch.
William Wilson
It's an aesthetic. Neon lights, hideous people, computers on everything. There you go. Go to /fa/ if you want to talk about dressing up like a retard. This has nothing to do with video games.
Luke Smith
I wrote that it's not JUST an aesthetic.
Eli White
It's just an aesthetic.

How was that?

Isn't that game super heavyhanded on the whole tumblrina thing?
