There was a Saturn release? I thought it was released at the beginning of the Dreamcast's life.
I was playing the PS2 port last night with a co worker. Dramatic-Survival is really fun on the high difficulties.
Pokemon TCG was the best thing ever.
Yeah they put it out for Saturn just to spite Sony though since it still runs better than the PS1 version.

Many of the Saturn Capcom ports ran a lot better, but needed a RAM cart.

Isms were a fucking mistake.
CCs weren't any better, but shit at least they're slightly toned down.
And roster bloat was real with A3 the CvS2 ports aside from Yun were great though.
only at the tippiest of top levels does this happen
and even then they drop the infinite sometimes. you will never see more than the standard combo into maybe three hits of the infinite during your play. even the top tier guys on ggpo aren't perfect with the infinites, stop talking shit
New Generation came out in 1997 and Alpha 3 came out in 1998. The DC was released in 1998 and neither Alpha 3 nor any of the SF3 games got DC ports until 1999.

Custom combos in general have never been good. Every SF game they've been in they've never been balanced well. Isms would've been neat if V-ism wasn't a necessity for most characters. I like the idea and wouldn't mind something like isms coming back in V, without a custom combo ism.
I'll agree on A2 > A3. I hate A3's aesthetic.

Alpha 3 on the Saturn runs better than the fucking Dreamcast version.
It's not even that the Dreamcast port is bad, but that the Saturn port is just that good.

Probably because NG and 2i sold like shit. The only reason they even went back to the Alpha series is because a lot of people didn't like III's roster, hence why irrelevant characters like Blanka, E. Honda, Dee Jay, T. Hawk, and Guile (not irrelevant but not necessary when he's a clone of Charlie) came back in A3. A2's soundtrack is amazing and they dropped the ball so hard with A3. I'm glad they haven't brought back any of the A3 themes for characters.

I loved the super fast walking speed in Alpha. Made spacing real tense.
As the Alpha 3 cocksucker that i am, gonna disagree, the only thing I liked about the karin theme is the part that resembles her original theme.

They're good themes - Karin's A3 theme is probably the only one I really know from A3 - but my biggest problem with A3's soundtrack is that all of the songs sound really similar if you're not familiar with them. I don't mind capcom giving old characters new themes, like Ken and Ryu's 2i themes were as good as their original themes imo, but it's really hard to remember whose themes are whose in A3. V did a great job of making them more distinct.

Yeah 3S got released in 1999. I'm surprised the III series didn't get a Saturn port too, since the Saturn port for A3 didn't come out until 1999.

The soundtrack's really fucking good though. Most people bitch because it's not just rehashed SF2 themes for the 500th time. There's a few eh songs like Ken's but a bunch of awesome ones (Chun, Gen, Blanka, Charlie, Karin, Dan, Guy, Vega, Rose, Juni/Juli, Cammy, Shin Bison, etc.).
Also the main composer for the game (Takayuki Iwai) had wanted to originally use a CD-based sound system in the machine so he could use real instruments. They weren't able to though so he had to settle with the MIDI stuff.
Mika's theme is arguable (the beginning is nice but it's lame after that) but Karin's is infinitely worse. It sounds like they half-ass ripped off Sakura's A2 theme which is retarded.
Don't forget Sodom Type 2 and Balrog's theme

Can't you just use alpha counter.
v-ism with characters like cody and karin are so crazy that you can just easily reverse alpha counters in the game.
whats hilarious is cody is mid-tier at best in the game but with v-ism he can become jesus
