WE'RE OVERRUN

>WE'RE OVERRUN
>THEY"RE COMING THROUGH THE PORTAL

better make sure we move slowly and reload our guns in the pitch black so the game is as little like doom as possible

DOOM was so much better than this shite

Doom II > Doom > Doom 3 > D44m > Final Doom

It was okay

doom 3 belongs on the end of that

ultimate doom>doom II>d4m>doom 64>final doom>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>doom 3

This is wrong on every level and you forgot Doom 64.

I only played Doom 64 for a few hours once. I honestly barely even remember for it. I'm sure alot of people can agree with my ranking

1>64>2016>3>2
fucking hated most of the levels in D2, not even the ssg could save that game

Sounds like you missed out on all the good levels, which is everything from level 9 to 28 + all the secret levels; so basically all the Hell levels.

Doom>Final Doom>Doom 2>RoE>Doom 3

Haven't played 64 and new doom

Doom 3 was goat.

D44M was trash.

I liked Doom 3 when it came out and I still like it, but DOOM is better in a lot of ways.

...

I have played every DOOM except final doom and doom 64.

Why does everyone hate final doom? Isn't it just like Doom 1 or something?

did I just get fist bumped, or are you attacking me?

I really, really hated Doom 3 when I started playing it, and considered not finishing it (I had played 3 hours by then). However, it somehow grew on me, although there's a lot that I hate about the game. And the flashlight bullshit is not even a con for me.

1) Those fucking jump scares get old fast. Not the "imp jumps out of door" jumpscare, but the "enter a room, a hidden wall opens behind you and a monster comes out" jumpscare. In the end, you'll be just walking around triggering hidden walls so you can fight everything comfortably.
2) Those guns sound and feel like they're made of plastic. The chaingun specially.
3) Most of the guns are worthless, because they don't make the enemy reel from the shots (not enough). So that means enemies with guns end up being strong as fuck for no reason.

The game just needed to either be shorter or have more varied ambients.

It's Doom 2 with an overabundance of Chaingunners and Revenants.

The flashlight thing was fixed later on. You can attach it to a gun

You're thinking of Ultimate Doom, which is indeed an updated Doom 1. Final Doom is an "expansion" of Doom II made by two teams of modders.
Well, let's just say they love to put chaingunners behind fences way out of your view, and obnoxious traps.

It was not a con for me in the original, because honestly, there are only 3 or 4 situations in the whole game where you're in complete darkness, and they aren't that dangerous anyway.
What I didn't like was being attacked by a Pinky (the new one runs like a dog), backtracking to a safe place, just to discover that the door closed behind me for no reason.

If there's one thing that I thought Doom 3 got right was the top notch sound effects and voice acting. I still remember my 13 year old self shitting himself during the first few missions, mostly because of the creepy music/sounds and people screaming over the comms.

But then I quickly figured out how the scare tactics worked, breaking all immersion.

...

Doom 3 has awesome ambience, in both sounds and graphics. It's one of the few games where I don't play music/podcasts at the same time, because I need to listen to the sounds.

But yeah, after a few hours, you already know how to walk around to trigger hidden walls or imps.

...

Doom>64>nuDoom>Doom 3>Final doom>Doom 2

why the hate for doom2? i thought it was fine, like an upgraded doom 1

I loved how Doom 3 had all that build-up.
Doom 1 and 2 really didn't have anything like that but at the same time didn't need it.
Nu-Doom just threw you into it and (very loosely) explained as it went.

Outside of the SSG it's complete garbage. The level design especially annoys me since they mostly rely on shit gimmicks or are overly mazelike.

Doom has a good balance between key hunting and killing shit, Doom 2 doesn't.

Obviously this is just my opinion though.

The new levels are really bad and the SSG is too powerful.

he stares at you incredulously
like a revenant who has to tell his bone daddy that he will no longer be able to scream after the doomguy is through with him

>Doom 3 is a total reboot and is more akin to Half-Life and System Shock than the original games
>gets labeled as a sequel

>DOOM (2016) harkens back to the original games (but is ultimately more akin to painkiller) and is essentially a direct sequel to Doom 64
>gets labeled as a reboot

Theory is that Doom 1, 2, 64, and Nu-Doom are one ongoing story. And somehow so is every WAD.

It's not the same main character in Doom 3 but that game is still somehow part of the timeline, if you believe that the "Chamber of the Hero" housed the Doom Marine from the other games.

>it's a "post game quote in caps for no reason" thread

Gay

>for no reason

It gets people to talk about the game, you homo

I want Crash to be rewritten into Doom.

It does so no better than the phrase "Doom 3 thread" unless the all-caps quote itself is the actual subject of the intended discussion and it appears that this is not the case here.

>It does so no better than the phrase "Doom 3 thread"

DO YOU HAVE ANY EVIDENCE TO BACK UP THAT STATEMENT?

>but that game is still somehow part of the timeline
It's impossible to link Doom 3 with the theory of the ongoing story.
The developers just took the ideas of Doom 3 and expanded it on D44M.
The Soul Cube in D44M is just an easter egg so it doesn't count
