Does Baldur's Gate 2 get much better than this? Can I just skip 1 and play 2? Because this is boring me so much right now
Does Baldur's Gate 2 get much better than this? Can I just skip 1 and play 2...
>2 part saga where the second game takes place weeks after BG1 with returning characters
>Can I skip half the story?
Kill yourself OP
BG2 is pretty much a side story to the Bhaal-spawn centered story line. If you don't care about ToB (which you shouldn't) then just skip BG1.
I never played BG1. I loved BG2 and its expansion.
BG1 is not necessary for enjoyment purposes.
Also, what OP describes is what I was warned about when considering playing BG1. It's not very fun, and boring as fuck. BG2 is much better.
he actually can
the only important story part is right at the end of bg1
bg1 serves as an introduction to d'n'd and faerun in general
do whatever the fuck you want faggot
we're not your shitty divorced parents
I never "got" BG1 or 2, because it's too much of an open world muh story thing for me.
Icewind Dale 2 is linear and focused on combat, which makes it more enjoyable for me.
This! And HoF mode is fun!
overall i rate bg2 as very good / better compared to bg1. There is a lot more freedom to do what you want and when you want to.
HOWEVER
you will feel a little lost when you start since you will be missing some game story if you don't recognize the characters in the beginning part.
>i never "got" bg1 or 2
someone is out to get you, they kill off your foster dad and want turn into a god
bg2
someone else caught you and wants to use you in their sinister plans, but you manage to escape...from an all powerful wizard/sorcerer who probably let you escape because it is all part of his master plan and you dance to his music.
>projecting this hard
you should use bg tutu or bg trilogy, bg1 is still pretty boring, but it's a little bit more fun with bg2's enhancements
bg2 is better, I played it first then I played(barely) Bg
>let you escape because it is all part of his master plan and you dance to his music.
...and Squall died at the end of disc 1.
as soon as you pay the fee you learn this anyhow, plus it is a little late for spoilers
Start with Pillars or Arcanum. Starting with the first gen cRPGs is painful.
arcanum has shit combat
Easiest way to hate this genre.
Are the enhanced editions of Baldur's Gate good or should I avoid them?
They are completely unnecessary and skipable.
Unless you don't like modding, avoid them.
So I should get the old games and mod them?
Any mods which are a must have?
Tutu or Trilogy (which I use). These use the BG2 engine for the whole series, and Trilogy actually links the first 2 games together. With Tutu, you need to import your character between 1 and 2.
Others I can think of would be:
Fixpack
Unfinished Business (adds content that was cut from the original release)
Widescreen mod
Tweaks (this has stuff for BG1 and 2)
There's also several banter packs if you like the back and forth between party members. The newly redesigned Imoen Romance mod is apparently very well done and has tons of content even if you don't actually romance your sister.
For difficulty, there's the Ascension mod (mostly affects TOB), Tactics, Sword Coast Strategems.
The Gibberlings 3 is a good site to start with for mods.
Thank you
Since you are just a faggot yes, you can. You can also go back to play with consoles.
poor man's tyranny
BG2's "enhancements" suck
BG1 ruleset and proficiencies were better
Baldurs gate 2 triggered some magical unicorn inside me.
I never was into isometricsal dungeond and dragons combat
Because i was turbo bored i installed it (even had original disc from bro)
The reviews scores and general word of mouth was pinnacle of gaming and shit so i wanted to try it out at leadt.
Jesus christ what a game. Beginning dungeon was pure shit. Reslly. I loathed it. Supposed to be s tutorial but its the opposite.
But after that the game just fucking picked up and didnt stop.
I liked the story, i loved the choices. I legit was thinking about what to say on certain events and even asked my cousin. Didnt want to look at internet to gain advantage and suck the fun out of it. I never fucking did that before.
Combat was hard at first, but once you understand, its so goddamn fun. Very tactical. Skill descriptions could have been more accurate and simplified (text). Had to use internet to know what certain skills actually do.
I dont think there was anything about the game i didnt like. I had like 100 hours in and still didnt finish the game, and i wasnt even afking or so.
Really incredible feel when you level up and choose how to build your character. I loved my fucking fast as fuck monk.
Sadly i lost everything because i reinstalled windows and forgot to backup the saves
Easily a 10/10 from me. My first crpg (i think) and my best rated game.
Play Jagged Alliance 2 if you want a top tier isometric strategy RPG. Also check out the other Infinity Engine games. Then someday you can move onto RPGkino like Might and Magic 6
