Never listened to either, Ape Escape is pretty great stuff. Was the stuff I was looking for.
Disgaea also was pretty good, a bit over toppish but still good.

Kinda mixed feelings, but overall neat.

Yeah, If I remember before HAL devoted all there time to Kirby (and smash kinda) there was that RPG which had names which was used in Super Star, and in Mass Attack, on top of all the Anime references they had, there where a few cameos from HAL's past games, like a huge mechanical dragon.
