Interesting that you thought 3 was the best. I finally got around to playing it and the game's pretty rough, at least in comparison to X1 and 2.

The music is pretty godly though (on the SNES) and the movement mechanics are still the same which go a long way in making the game still fun.
Apparently much of the game development was outsourced to another company. It sure felt like it.

I know it gets overrated to hell and back on this board, and that's in part because 20-somethings like me likely had it has its first game via PS1 but come on, it's better than X5 at a bare minimum. Only really good thing about X5 is the armors.

i love it for the abilities and customization, and i think it's fun while it is frustrating at times. All of the instant death spikes they throw in are ridiculous towards the end though, bad level design
