Why didn't they just use Donkey Kong?
Why didn't they just use Donkey Kong?
He would have overshadowed Dixie Kong in her own game.
DK would end up cucking Diddy
Literally just this
It's called Doneky Kong Country. So really as long as it involves wherever the fuck continent DK lives it's not like it's a misnomer to not have DK playable.
Because 3 is the worst Donkey Kong Country game.
Well DKC2 was not on Donkey Kong Island, and I'm pretty sure in DKC3, they weren't on DK Island either. It basically is just Donkey Kong in name only. I always did find that a little strange.
At least they didn't get rid of the barrels though, right?
Kiddie Kong was shoehorned in.
Because Dixie became popular enough to get her own game. Why they didn't just use Dixie and Diddy again instead of making a one-off kong that's just a crying DK I'll never know.
Personally I'd say the map design of 1 was lacking overall.
3 is definitely better then 1.
I'd put 1 above 3 for various reasons. It had better music, it didn't have some of the shittier animal buddies like Elie, no stupid gimmicks in the levels, and overall better enemy design. The ones they put in DKC3 looked rather lazily put together.
While I liked DKC3, I think they made some pretty questionable decisions for it.
Oh yeah, and putting the kongs in Canada. DKC1 and 2 definitely had a better vibe.
Shut the fuck up. It wasn't good with its weak soundtrack, forgettable locales, and bland boss fights.
Well it wasn't as dark as DKC 1 and 2 but I found it quite comfy.
it's okay dude. No need for that. Here, have a waifu.
3 is kind of middling but I applaud them for not just rehashing 2. Even when it uses themes from 1 they're changed around. Like the sterile factories of 1 turned into grimy steel mills, or the Jungle levels having those weird mechanical trees and gravestones everywhere. If NSMB even tried as hard as this game did instead of the same sand geysers and poison water I'd probably hate them much less.
DKC 1 = best for being first and simple in a good way
DKC 2 = best for challenge and level design
DKC 3 = best for most content, exploration and secrets
Not a bad way to put it.
My fucking nigguh
This is the reason I say 1>2>3
This series is just too damn good.
I hope Nintendo one day gives us Donkey Kong Kongllection or Donghatong whatever they call it
Taking the best elements from both SNES and GBA versions + Remaking the Land games while adding new stuff.
>expecting this much out current Nintendo.
If it's not Zelda or Mario you can go fuck yourself.
I was kinda implying that 1=2=3 each being good for different reasons but I still respect your opinion
2 had the best aesthetic without a doubt
Let me have dreams faglord
I would settle for VC releases of the GBA versions and the GBC version of 1.
I'd also say three had the best overworld. It was really pleasant and I get a lot of nostalgia for it.
But yeah, two blows it entirely out of the water in terms of level design.
>Donkey Kong Country
>DK is only playable in one game in the trilogy
>Diddy and Dixie get the most limelight
Irony. I would have liked for a Donkey/Dixie duo in 3, but Kiddy worked well enough. I personally think 3 is more fun than 1, even if it's a lot easier up until the last two worlds of the game.
DKC2 doesn't really work without DK being captured. The whole point was Diddy filling DK's proverbial boots and going into hell itself since in DKC he was in "Hero training".
3 doesn't really have an excuse. Kiddy was literally DK too.
