Can we take a moment to admire what a GOAT-tier handheld the PSP was and still is?
Can we take a moment to admire what a GOAT-tier handheld the PSP was and still is?
Remember when every piece of electronics were silver
Nah. Had no good games and emulation was terrible. I don't feel like sawing my battery in half and buying an 80 dollar hardware addon.
>Had no good games
Not even for Monster Hunter?
Lumines
Tons of good RPGs and weebshit, too.
If it could handle 4GB worth of games, and had a second stick, then maybe.
But no, Sony had failed to create a powerful handheld TWICE. First time, it had too few buttons, to weak a processor, yet somehow Sony funded all the ports and timed exclusives that made PSP worth owning. Second time, even though the controls were halfway decent, Sony decided to fuck up the cartridge capacity, and stopped funding the games halfway through second year.
Fuck Sony.
>Complain about the cartridges
>Not the memory card
>I don't feel like sawing my battery in half and buying an 80 dollar hardware addon.
what fucking year are you in, the psp hasnt been like that in a very long time
Also it had pretty good support from square enix and it being a portable PS1 made it worth it ontop of doing GBA decent and snes "ok"
I remember even having a fucking wonky version of youtube on it that was black magic bastardization of the mobile site
>Had no good games
Memory card I can deal with. One of my favourite games had to be cut because the Vita port Sony asked for could not fit the whole game because of the stupid cartridge format.
>ps2 ports
>ps1 eboots
>nes, snes, genesis, gba roms
>actual psp games
not having a second analog led it to be a port/remake/compilation machine.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a PS1 that fits in your pocket.
>Had no good games
At least try to be less obvious with your bait
Fuck off with that reddit tier affirmation seeking title, op
Silver PSP 200 Slim best PSP ever
Recently bought a 3DS that I hacked, and I still keep getting back to my PSP slim&lite. There are so many fucking good games.
if ps vita had GTA...
i know it's psp in OP's pic
I love my PSP, but the stick is completely fucked up. Whenever I touch it it does some crazy shit moving my character anywhere but where I want it to. It also somehow affects dpad occasionally registering input even though I don't touch it.
Is there no way to fix this? It was a gift, so I don't really want to replace it completely.
The bad sides of the PSP :
- Bad stick, hurts thumb
- They let small studios do the big license games, which led to good but not great games
- L R keys feel clunky
- Few online games
- No second stick
- Clunky power button
Wow, I sure love playing 300 variations of SRPGS!
never bough another handheld (or other console) after my psp. Recently I downloaded the gba emulator since I never played that and holy shit, it's like a whole new snes that I can explore from scratch
The GBA was the second coming of the SNES, it's pretty top notch.
Kys weeblet
Wild ARMS XF is the GOAT SRPG, though.
The GBA emulator is perfect for the PSP, Castlevania, Metroid, Kingdom Hearts are all really good games
I played aria of sorrow a lot and a bit of mario 3 (for the first time, when I was young I though playing super mario bros was already a better experience and ignored mario 3 until now) and it's really great, can't wait to play the zelda one that is like lttp
Handhelds is pinnacle of gaming for me. Always felt like ds/psp fight is stupid, both consoles were fucking awesome, that's a pity vita and 3ds failed to succeed the greatness.
I bought one at launch.
While I enjoyed mine to the last drop, I wouldn't call it GOAT
The PSP's triggers make me want to fucking die.
Vita's are just as bad.
>emulation was terrible
Name a better handheld emulator.
The Vita
But I know that isn't really fair since it came out later and is basically a PSP with better controls and hardware
always wanted the muki one
Is it possible to run emulators on the latest OFW? I need a new emulation station since the PSP I have is starting to show its age.
>retroarch crashes GBA games
Can Vita run PSP games?
As an emulation machine, fuck yes.
Vanilla? Not so much. Only real standout on the system was Peace Walker. The DS outshines it in near all capacity save graphics.
no you have to be on 3.60
if yours is older you can manually update, and they're not sold past that firmware outside of Japan (yet), most used ones are still older as well
this does mean you'll eventually be locked out of online and the newest titles(development is almost dead)
digitally, most of them
psp piracy won't be a thing for a month or two
Shut up Kevin.
