This has always been my point when it comes to "representation" in media.

It's one thing when it comes to non-fictional material. Yeah, we should have women authors writing about their experiences in life, women actors and products making movies about struggles they've been through, and women song-writers telling stories about how they feel. Because that shit matters, and people identify with situations that happen in the real world to real people.

But most people view characters as a "vehicle" rather than an actual person or identity. People who view fictional characters as realistic are actually being studied to see if they have some form of autism that effects their ability to identify and distinguish non-real things.

Not to mention the absurdity of including characters in some video games... "how do we make this connect 3 puzzle game more Hispanic?"

The 52% of women majorly come from mobile/browser based games where they're actually the majoity. If you actually look at those stores they're represented just fine, women are less represented in console/pc spaces because there's less women there.
