I'm sure they'll switch it.
CARLOS
Seems like fair price.
Fuck you carlos
Looks like it's time to switch to another console.
It was listed at 330 here in Canadian TRU, so it doesn't seem that far off.
They can't compete at a price higher than $250
I'm tempted to say $250 is too high, especially when standard models of the PS4 and Xbone will be that price next year
why should i care what a tranny thinks the price is
I think $250 is the most they can ask for it.
It's going to be shit, isn't it?
Ideally, yes
>standard models of the PS4 and Xbone
why compare a new portable system to legacy home systems? They aren't in competition at all.
I would say it's too high, but I doubt the price of the ps4 and xbone will have anything to do with it. You can already get a used xbone or ps4 for less, and it'll be more powerful than either one.
The real issue is that this thing is primarily a mobile platform, so it's competing with $200 tablets with similar specs.
This is suppose to be Nintendo's home console stupid.
I meant they'll be more powerful than the switch.
>The real issue is that this thing is primarily a mobile platform
No it isn't and no tablet actually has specs that are ever close to the Switch.
The iPad Pro outperforms the Switch.
It's supposed to be both you retard, had it been designed to be a home console first it wouldn't be a tablet that docks. It's just more beneficial to market it as a home console.
It is Nintendo's new home system AND handheld. The Blue Ocean strategy is going to fucking drown them all again.
>No it isn't
Yes it is, most tablets have hdmi ports too, that's not an accomplishment.
>no tablet actually has specs that are ever close to the Switch.
In some facets, in others no modern tablet on the market now has 720p anymore, making the switch look weak in comparison.
But in general there are lots of tablets that outperform the switch in every way
>en.wikipedia.org
They just cost a lot of money.
the wii u+mario kart 8 is still selling for 300 euros
>Yes it is, most tablets have hdmi ports too, that's not an accomplishment.
dualshockers.com
>In some facets, in others no modern tablet on the market now has 720p anymore, making the switch look weak in comparison
That's not at all relevant
>But in general there are lots of tablets that outperform the switch in every way
First off, we don't know the specs of the Switch.
Second, if the Switch uses the X2, it blows away every tablet on the market and judging by Nvidia's statement, it probably using the X2
Third, if it uses the X1, it would be as powerful as the Pixel C.
>dualshockers.com
Yeah and wiiu was a "hardcore gaming platform" which turned out to be exclusively for childrens games and casual rehashes. You can't buy into marketing bullshit like that, especially when it comes to nintendo who have no idea what their target demographic is.
>That's not at all relevant
It's very relevant, games are going to look worse on the switch than on most tablets just based on sheer resolution alone.
>it would be as powerful as the Pixel C.
With less ram, a shittier CPU, and 1/4th the resolution
Because the Switch won't even be as powerful as those "legacy" systems.
>m-m-muh blue ocean
Do you even know what this means? It means Nintendo doesn't consider themselves in competition with MS and Sony, a deeply flawed belief by a unique-snowflake company that's about to get a dose of reality
>You can't buy into marketing bullshit like that, especially when it comes to nintendo who have no idea what their target demographic is
But you do?
>It's very relevant, games are going to look worse on the switch than on most tablets just based on sheer resolution alone.
OK, so, just because they don't want to burn through the battery when it's in handheld mode, that means it's less powerful? More than likely it the res will be bumped when it's docked
>With less ram, a shittier CPU,
So can I get a source on any of these?
And again, if it uses the X2, it blows out the Pixel C.
>Do you even know what this means?
Why do you even exist? Yes, Nintendo is a competitor to Sony and Microsoft. But it's Sony and Microsoft that's relying on gimmicks this new generation. The Pro is a joke and the Scorpio won't deliver. Keep being salty, retard.
>Because the Switch won't even be as powerful as those "legacy" systems.
Source? Be don't know any of the specs of the Switch.
>But you do?
No, nobody does, not even nintendo, that's the problem. They just make shit and see who's going to buy it.
> that means it's less powerful?
Well, yes, because the pixel doesn't throttle itself.
>More than likely it the res will be bumped when it's docked
Or even more likely it'll be upscaled 1080, which is going to look like shit.
>And again, if it uses the X2
Yeah it's going to use a GPU that costs $200 to manufacture and then somehow sell for $300 at most.
Even if the Switch is the X2, it still trails the Xbone graphically by a huge margin, so it fails in the home console race from the start. It might be powerful as a tablet, but what about all the people out there that couldn't care less about portable or tablet gaming? For them, they'll be looking at it in terms of how it fairs as a home console. And for people who are looking at it as a portable, they will be looking at how expensive it is, how large and clunky it is, and how poor the battery life is.
Hybrid design = shit. A jack of all trades is good at nothing.
We know the specs of the X2 and it can't possibly be more powerful. And it is likely to be less powerful than the X2.
X2 is less powerful than a ps4 and xbone, by like half at maximum potential output.
X1 would be like 1/7th as powerful, and it's far more likely to be in the switch.
Regardless of what the switch uses it will be underpowered compared to it's direct home-console competition.
>No, nobody does, not even nintendo, that's the problem. They just make shit and see who's going to buy it.
They clearly know what it is, it's a home console.
>Well, yes, because the pixel doesn't throttle itself.
again not wanting to burn through the battery doesn't mean that ti would be weaker. The Pixel C wouldn't be playing high graphical video games, so it can run at it's resolution. The Switch has play videos games so obviously the battery has to take a hit and so it has run at a lower res
>Or even more likely it'll be upscaled 1080, which is going to look like shit.
Or, like a laptop, it would be underclocked and when docked in, run fully allowing it to run at 1080p, though I don't expect a lot of games to run at 1080p.
>Yeah it's going to use a GPU that costs $200 to manufacture and then somehow sell for $300 at most
X2 isn't a GPU and when the Tegra X1 was released, Nvidia released the Shield TV which used it and launched at 199.99.
The X2 is significantly more cutting edge than the X1 was when it released. Doesn't mean it competes with actual non-mobile hardware, but as mobile hardware it is pretty impressive
Yeah and it costs more than 500 bucks.
I would imagine it would use a custom Tegra that makes it just slightly less powerful.
Or the dock would supply additional power.
>They clearly know what it is, it's a home console.
But also a portable console, right?
Hurr we put all our eggs in 2 baskets how can this possible fail when we're both on the bottom of the mobile gaming market and home console market.
HURR
>Or, like a laptop, it would be underclocked and when docked in
No laptop in the world renders stuff at lower resolutions when undocked, sure you can turn down gpu strength but not to that extent, and luckily on a laptop you can always force it to run the gpu at 100%, unlike the switch.
>The Pixel C wouldn't be playing high graphical video games
But it can, just as easily as the switch, maybe easier.
>Nvidia released the Shield TV which used it and launched at 199.99.
Literally just an X1 and hdmi compatibility and a controller, not even a screen, the x1 itself cost upwards of $150 to produce. Nvidia was barely making even on shield tv sales when it came out, and nintendo has never sold a console at a loss.
The dock is probably just for cooling, tegras run crazy hot. Regardless of which 1080 is 3x the resolution of 720, even if you overclocked the tegra to shit and back it wouldn't get you that kind of performance increase.
>Or the dock would supply additional power.
There are several sources that say the dock does not add additional power, which is definitely disappointing
I'm hoping they announce a "premium" model that includes a dock that will add power to the system, because as it stands, it is not a competitive home console
>No laptop in the world renders stuff at lower resolutions when undocked
The general idea is that when undocked, it would be down clocked to save the battery and prevent overheating.
>But it can, just as easily as the switch, maybe easier.
Again, you're making assumptions about a console you know nothing about.
Also, the Switch has to run games all the time, it not a 2 in one laptop like the Pixel C.
Again, if the Switch used the X1, it would be just as powerful as the Pixel C and if it used the X2, it would blow it out.
>Nvidia was barely making even on shield tv sales when it came out, and nintendo has never sold a console at a loss
Well for one, Nvidia is selling their tegra chips to Nintendo at low price. Which would explain as to why the Switch would be cheap.
So worry your ass off at a Nintendo hybrid console trying to compete with others already priced at $299.
it cant be real if our eyes aren't real
>Also, the Switch has to run games all the time, it not a 2 in one laptop like the Pixel C.
I don't get the point you're trying to make aside from the fact the switch is a shittier pixel c.
> Nvidia is selling their tegra chips to Nintendo at low price
Yeah that's how bulk volume works, regardless of which tegras are expensive to produce and nvidia isn't going to sell them to nintendo at a loss.
>I don't get the point you're trying to make aside from the fact the switch is a shittier pixel c.
The point is that the Pixel C's battery would be decimated if it ran high quality games at it's resolution. But it doesn't do that, it runs smartphone games and it's not even designed for games in general.
>nvidia isn't going to sell them to nintendo at a loss.
Ironically because they are rumored to be doing that.
They never actually said anything about the dock.
Nintendo was asked whether or not the dock is the home console. Nintendo responded and said it isn't and that the dock provides power and charging.
Incredibly vague statement. We won't know fully till January.
>it runs smartphone games
Well yeah, it's a smartphone processor. What do you think the switch will run?
>and it's not even designed for games in general.
The pixel c already has more games in it's library than the switch will have in it's entire lifespan.
>Ironically because they are rumored to be doing that.
Sadly rumors don't make good consoles with lots of games, otherwise the ps4 and xbone wouldn't be shit.
Dude what is your problem? If you don't like it then don't buy it. Seems like graphical powerhouse are your thing so keep enjoying your PS4, Xbox One or PC but Nintendo is aiming at a different market for this and at the same time luring some of the hardcore gamers with the Switch portable options at a less price than an IPad or high-end phones. Don't understand why all the hate. Just ignore and don't buy it.
>What do you think the switch will run?
Not smartphone games
>The pixel c already has more games in it's library than the switch will have in it's entire lifespan.
No shit, it's an Android tablet, it has more games than the PS4, Xbox One, Wii U and Switch combined
>Sadly rumors don't make good consoles with lots of games
It's not really even a rumor
wccftech.com
Nintendo got a very good deal with Nvidia, to the point where Nvidia maybe taking a loss on this deal.
>Not smartphone games
Likely no games in general, but bare minimum if it's getting ports of anything it'll be smartphone games.
>No shit, it's an Android tablet, it has more games than the PS4, Xbox One, Wii U and Switch combined
Then don't shit on it for not being made for games, that's like saying pc isn't made for games. Sure it's not it's sole function but it's better at it than anything else on the market in the same formfactor.
>It's not really even a rumor
>wccftech.com
Okay.
sounds like a good price
>Likely no games in general, but bare minimum if it's getting ports of anything it'll be smartphone games.
So now you're not even attempting to hide the bias anymore
>Then don't shit on it for not being made for games,
It's android 2 in 1. It's not a video games tablet.
>that's like saying pc isn't made for games
If you buy a shitty Acer desktop with a Intel Pentium 4, it's certainly not meant for games.
>Okay.
Except it wasn't a rumor. I couldn't actually get it directly from Semi-Accurate because it had a paywall, but they were the ones who broke the story about the NX using a Tegra chip.
And if you don't like the Switch, why waste the time in a thread discussing it?
Too expensive, fuck that.
>Except it wasn't a rumor.
It's still a rumor.
>but they were the ones who broke the story about the NX using a Tegra chip.
Everyone knew it would use a Tegra, it was just commonly accepted as fact as the logical step for nintendo, if semi-accurate was worth shit they would have said which tegra.
It's reasonable to assume the base model will include a dock that does nothing but power/charge, since that's all you really need
Whether or not there will be a more advanced model is the only question
>Everyone knew it would use a Tegra,
No one knew a thing about the NX and most people assumed it was using an AMD based chip, especially considering Nvidia was moving away from general applications with the Tegra into self driving cars and they had said a thing about video games.
Also, I'm pretty you've been in every Switch thread shitposting because I'm starting to recognize your posting style.
>I'm starting to recognize your posting style.
Autism.
Everyone realized the switch was a mobile/home console split, the only thing anybody actually learned about it during the event was the shitty controllers.
And the only way to have anything powerful enough to play semi-modern games and be handheld was the tegra. Not a massive logical jump, just an obvious assessment. AMD doesn't even make mobile processors.
My problem is Nintendo is fucking lost and it is sad. I was looking forward to them steering away from the Wii U and they just go and do it again as if they learned nothing.
not him but still, nobody knew it was a Tegra
>But it's Sony and Microsoft that's relying on gimmicks this new generation.
How is a portable tablet not a gimmick?
>>Everyone realized the switch was a mobile/home console split
And no one knew how it was gonna do that.
People assumed that there would be a mobile portion and a console portion. People thought was gonna cloud stream the games to the handheld. No knew how.
>the only way to have anything powerful enough to play semi-modern games and be handheld was the tegra
Except the Tegra wasn't being used in mobile devices anymore and it being use for self driving cars.
>AMD doesn't even make mobile processors
Yes, they do, you idiot.
amd.com
No one uses them because they are total ass and again, people assumed that it was gonna use a AMD APU.
Also, lets see how many people thought it was gonna be tegra
boards.fireden.net
Literally no one thought it was Tegra till Semi-Accurate broke the story that it was using Tegra. You're talking out of your ass.
Don't blame you in that part. Nintendo is desperately looking for that Wii market that help it sell over a 100 million Wii's years ago but they sadly moved to phones and iPads. The Switch is probably them telling that market "look, we are offering similar graphical comparisons to your favorite mobile systems but with the perks of console gaming"
I say this every time,
If it's 200 USD, it will have a chance with strong third party support it will have a 50/50 chance at the becoming a second choice console. At 250 it's competing to be the living room king and it's DOA.
Everyone knew it was a tegra, it was either that or making a subpar gaming tablet which is what killed the wiiu.
>People thought was gonna cloud stream the games to the handheld.
After the wiiu? How stupid are people?
>Except the Tegra wasn't being used in mobile devices anymore and it being use for self driving cars.
Every tegra has some sort of mobile platform out, it's primary function was for mobile gaming, it's just also good at other things.
>No one uses them because they are total ass and again, people assumed that it was gonna use a AMD APU.
Everyone knows they're total ass, even the tablets you'll find them in are just tablet form factor laptops. Why would anyone assume the nx uses AMD, that's retarded when the tegra exists.
>Also, lets see how many people thought it was gonna be tegra
>more than half of them are from before the rumor mill said it would use a tegra
WOW
250 is perfect.
This thing will sell in gangbusters.
Smash, Pokemon, Mario and more.... on the same console....
>more than half of them are from before the rumor mill said it would use a tegra
>WOW
Except no it wasn't retard.
The Semi Accurate stroke broke May 12 2016.
The first reference on Sup Forums to the NX using a Tegra chip came on the 13th and it reference the Semi-Accurate story.
You're talking out of your ass dude. You're just shitposting at this point.
Also, if you don't like the Switch, why come to nearly every Switch thread to shitpost about it?
People are used to buying tablets for 400 dollars upwards. You really think they care if a console for their brats costs 200 or 300 bucks? They probably already have shitty smartphones costing 600 dollars per piece.
Woah...
So this what 20/20 hindsight looks like.
Smartphones are closer to 800
This. Most people thought it was a standard home console with a handheld controller that you could take on the go and keep playing using streaming and it would have a form free controller.
Yeah but an adult can hold onto a $600 phone for years.
A child will break a $250 gaming tablet in 20 minutes if left unsupervised, without a case on it.
My Sony smartphone, which is reasonably up to date, was 250 bucks new. 800 is the high end of cellphones bought by normal people.
My point is, people usually don't care if something is priced 250 or 350 dollars because it's ingrained into them that an iPad Pro costs 600 dollars which is bloody cheap compared to a laptop costing 990 dollars (value 300 dollars). As much as only few adult people actually care if this or that console costs 400 or 500 dollars because they will buy it regardless.
You can already get a PS4 at Costco for $250
I don't know who the fuck they think they're kidding other than themselves
>buying last gen hardware
£200 is a "Nintendo 3DS on-launch"-tier price, which is perfectly fair and way cheaper than I expected.
What kind of sperg kid do you have user?
Do you just not discipline them?
m.toysrus.ca
Toys-R-Us pulled their page that listed the Switch's Canadian price, which was 245 USD.
I like how no one is talking about Laura Kate Dale. This story is nothing more than an attempt to cash in yesterday's story.
Here are some facts about Laura:
>Is trans
>Has been confirmed to fake 'being harassed' for attention
>Wrote an article talking about how triggered he was by Bayonetta.
>Has never actually leaked any Switch information.
Why do we listen to this person again?
Why is that relevant?
>Has never actually leaked any Switch information.
She actually did. She leaked the entire design dude.
Friendly reminder that the 3DS originally retailed for $249.99, and taking inflation into consideration, the Switch will be cheaper. If you don't think this is a fair price for a handheld/console hybrid then I think you're probably just a poorfag who would have waited for sales and price cuts regardless of the launch price.
Fuck off, Laura. If that was true, we would have known what the Switch was before reveal.
But that isn't what happened, is it?
Who the fuck cares about that ugly motherfucker? Thanks for ruining the thread.
Except we did.
eurogamer.net
letsplayvideogames.com

We knew everything about the Switch months before it was announced.
And yet the Switch won't even be as powerful as the Xbone
>talking out your ass
>forgetting this is a handheld
End yourself, my man.
>My problem is Nintendo is fucking lost and it is sad. I was looking forward to them steering away from the Wii U and they just go and do it again as if they learned nothing.
So sick of this shit. What did you want? A regular fucking console? Like the N64? Like the gamecube?
That doesn't work anymore. If you have a better business plan for them to stay competitive in the console market we'd love to hear it.
Enjoy the WiiU2 Electric Boogaloo Handheld edition.
Nintendo is saying it's first and foremost a home console. Sure, it's really a tablet, but it'll be competing against other home consoles, not other tablets. It will be sold in the video game section at Wal-mart
She had nothing to do with the Eurogamer leak, which came first. That's the point.
She merely tries to piggyback off of stories like this. Take, for example, this one.
slashgear.com
It came first, Laura merely took the information and based a new rumor around it a day later. She doesn't actually have insider information, which is pretty self evident.
No, you're the one that's lost. Combining their markets into one and making a device that won't suffer from game deprivation is the best idea Nintendo have ever had. You'll still have console games that you can play with a regular ass controller and you never ever have to take the tablet out of the dock if you don't want to, plus you get shit like Pokemon, Monster Hunter, Animal Crossing, etc. as well that would have been reserved for a handheld device.
>She had nothing to do with the Eurogamer leak, which came first. That's the point.
She also leaked the dimensions, which can't be confirmed yet and she leaked the fact that they got rid of the D-Pad.
It's a home console you can play on the go. So a handheld. It'll compete with everything and at the same thing with nothing, cause it's a truly unique piece of hardware.
$250 USD is a really great price. I know Sup Forums is full of edgelords saying it needs to be less than $100 because Nintendo is stinky, but in reality as long as it gets enough marketing people will very, very easily pay that price for a gadget that plays video games. They're currently accustomed to paying a fair bit more than that.
I'll be buying the deluxe edition, which businessinsider is projecting to be $50 more, more internal storage, and bundled with a now unannounced game. I'll also be getting a switch pro controller and maybe another game or 2 depending on whats released with it.
Handhelds with TV out have been done before
Every hardware is unique in the sense that it's not identical to other hardware, so don't play semantics
By that point youtubers like Boogie2988 were accurately talking about what the console was like. The information was floating around, it just wasn't public knowledge yet.
Laura, and Rogers for that matter, can't be considered insiders because they don't actually have insider information.
>Boogie2988
He leaked fuck all, as a matter of fact, his leak was totally wrong.
>This. Most people thought it was a standard home console with a handheld controller that you could take on the go and keep playing using streaming
They did? Why would anyone think this? You can do the same thing with a Vita or a smartphone, and it's fucking hot garbage. You need internet access. What you're pitching is literally a Wii U with 1 extra feature. You thought that would be commercially viable?

No, most casuals will leave this device at home for that fact alone.
>Deluxe Edition only has 32GB of storage
I really hope they learned from the Wii U in this regard, but maybe that's why the Switch is so cheap.
