And for the record, I think Facebook is the correct answer here.

nobody actually cares about what the question is asking.
they are just voting for their favorite game company.

>valve
>games

Imagine the length and girth of the 'Valve' bar if they announce Half Life 3...

at this point if/when they announce HL3 there is no doubt in my mind that it will be VR exclusive

Doubtful unless Zuckerberg really starts investing hard into their platform to get AAA in and starts beating Steam in the right areas like no microtransactions (lol)

Poll is also fucked because no Amazon on there either and Amazon is going to be a massive force in the next few years as well. An Amazon client could easily push Steam's shit in as well if done right.

Why do people who aren't 10 years old still like Nintendo? I don't get it. They haven't made or had anything on their consoles that appeals to adults (or even teens for that matter) in well over a decade.

>how to shit on everything 101

theyre not delusional, I mean the are but theyre just voting for their favorite company in the poll

>none of the above has 1315 votes

Good to know there's people who are being realistic

what have the valve devs been up to in the last 5 years anyway?
cant be more than a couple of dudes working on dota/csgo content, the fuck are the rest doing?

>valve did not change gaming
>valve will not continue to change video games or the platform
???

wrong

Working on Vive, Steamboxes and Steam OS. And mostly failing.

"Horizontal Management"

What is there to influence? Nothing really changed in the last 10 years. Well, mobile got big, but that's kind of another branch.

It's funny because nintendo and sony both has no clue what the fuck they're doing but the masses are eating it up like garbage.

>I only play mature games for mature gamers such as myself.

Look at them as a developer, not a publisher of games. Compare them to other independant developers that dont ask around for work and then look how often they release games. Valve has released a game every two years or three years since they've been founded. People have been crying for no reason for a long time now even when valve is busy working on stuff.

Then look at all the video game related projects valve has going as a company.

Well, user, I have some bad news for you. When everything a company produces is kiddy stuff clearly designed for families and children, most grown ups get the hint and move on to companies that make things designed for them.

yes

Switch could potentially change the handheld market, and ps4 influences how static the console market could become. Beyond that, nothing really.

>nintendo is releasing a new console
>sony is... releasing some VR headset that let you play a really batman game?

what's wrong with that answer?

it was supposed to be really bad batman game but i like the use of the word of "batman" as an adjective

They will have quite a lot of guys working on Dota 2 and CS:GO since that keeps them in the esports game, makes them money that isn't dependent on the steam store and they have slowly been working on the source engine.
The Vive is the main thing, plus the steam controller and their version of linux which nobody wants because it's still linux.
In the scenario that they want to nuke all other gaming news for a week, I guess announcing HL3 could do that, but they don't really have a reason to until some transformative technology comes onto the scene. VR could be it, but right now it's still only for enthusiasts.

>Correct answer isn't even listed

lol

>They haven't made or had anything on their consoles that appeals to me in well over a decade.
FTFY

>releasing a new console
>not the most relevant thing you could do

I guess if you like pointless kiddy stuff, sure.

>pointless
Please, tell me what the "point" of The Witcher 3 is.

Or Dark Souls.

Or any video game.

Yeah, what is this shit?

How can 11% of people still think Valve is relevant?

I can't even imagine vr is making them good money though. Anyone with a smartphone can just get a headset for them and only "enthusiasts" are gonna be getting a desktop set.

They're not wrong. Nintendo is coming out with a new console in a few months, while MS and Sony are coming out with upgrades to their current ones.

If the Switch is successful, I'm sure MS and Sony will try to copy its success, like how they came out with the Kinect and Move after the Wii proved to be a hit.

If the Switch is a failure, it won't be the end for Nintendo like some people are saying, but it may be their last console. They may just stick to handhelds, go third-party, or maybe they'll just say fuck it and quit video games altogether and take their IPs with them.

Valve can afford to play the long game, and they think that VR will become a thing eventually. It's not as though they don't have the money (especially when they're working with HTC). I doubt that steam machines made them any money either, but they needed an alternative in the scenario that Microsoft tries to push the windows store over steam.

>designed for families and children

Families include the parents of the children.
You don't have a family?

They buyout companies, poach staff from other publishers, and then nickel and dime customers with micro-transactions.

The only news you'll hear is how developers are joining "Riot Games".

I'm sure they mean steam only, but could not list a single product name, if they asked for a company

user haven't you heard about the increasingly popular 6 year old parents? Even now entire families can be under the age of 14.

>He thinks Valve would make HL3 for VR exclusive, when they are already afraid to even release the game because of the potential backlash.

After what happened with ME3, HL3 will never happen.

youtube.com/watch?v=Jt0w9YP_wZ0

Half Life 3 might be a good or even great game but it wouldn't be changing anything in the industry. Which is what the question is asking, which company will have the biggest IMPACT.

Nintendo dropping out of the console market will have a huge impact. I don't see the mistake here.

You're right.

And they're going to make mad money once Sony completely gives up on the Vita in Japan, leaving all the handheld developers moving to the 4DS or whatever Nintendo releases after the Switch fails.

>Family friendly = Nick Jr. experiences.

Drift away from that mentality and you might just see why people can enjoy it.

Besides, Nintendo never really does all that well when they go over the T rating. They end up making games that no one gives a fuck about and then become hidden gems a decade later.

Hey, I voted for Valve. Even if VR is a go-nowhere gimmick, Valve is pushing the medium as best they can in spite of that (unlike Sony, who only feels like they're doing this as as an also-ran).

Shit, now you know I go to GameFAQs.

They never said positive/negative impact, just impact.
Nintendo dropping out of the console industry would certainly impact things.

>Then look at all the video game related projects valve has going as a company.

OK Then

>Vive

Moderate success. HTC are fronting most of the cash to try get an advantage over other mobile manufacturers. Dearth of Games post launch however as VR has not yet matured enough as a platform and will be a work in progress

>Steamboxes

Colossal failure. Launched the same day as Fallout 4 without Fallout 4 supported. Only two manufacturers are offering them as an option now. No reason for Custom PC makers to ever partner with Valve again because they fronted costs while Valve didn't subsidize it so even if they did fix the massive issues like Steam OS barren library. They won't get anyone working with them again.

>SteamOS

Only ever meant to rattle sabers with Microsoft. Support suddenly slowed down when Valve was asked to become part of the Windows 10 Advisory board in 2014 and MS promised they would not block it in favor of their own store (Gee. Wonder if the fact that someone Gabe worked with in MS in 1995 got promoted to VP of Windows 10 and "Head Of Xbox" helped). Never helped that it was not even a good distro. Still buggy, crashy and has been since launch. Will likely get the bare minimum of Steam VR support to throw a bone to those who bought a top grade Steambox before being slowly phased out because it's clear Valve likes it better when they have Microsoft backing them, they get promotion at Microsoft events because Microsoft has shown gaming using steam majority of the time, they inside track on Windows 10 development and still maintains their status as the top distribution platform over GOG, EA, Ubi-Soft and Microsoft.

So yes, Valve have worked on gaming projects and they have been a moderate success to a complete fucking disaster and are only still operating because they have a defacto monopoly on PC Gaming platforms that rolls in money, constantly

>gives up on the Vita in Japan
The Vita sells great in Japan and has more games coming for it than any other console this upcoming year. Sony ain't given up shit.

There's nothing particularly wrong with that poll other than Google and Apple having such a small impact. Like it or not, the Nintendo Switch could open the floodgates for outsiders like Amazon and Samsung to start competing directly in the gaming market with tablets and smartphones featuring similar functionality. That would be the death of dedicated home consoles as we know them, since most normies want everything in a single device.

With that shitty ass android OS?

Never, getting in the gaming market is more risky than ever nowdays.

On top of everything, Nintendo is already established on the marketing, well as sony and microsoft having shitton of devs on their hats with marketing deals or some shit.

Unless they have a lot of money to burn, its pretty much stupid. Also Nintendo unified their handheld and home division, Pokemon alone can cripple the competition really hard right off the bat.

Amazon already said they would be mainly platform agnostic, but concentrating on Windows PC for the minute. It's their potential for disruption of the PC market that would be the main threat. They will be gunning for Valve first

Samsung likely has no plans because they can't disrupt the traditional console market. Best could will do is likely a W10 Gaming focused tablet (As they will be dropping Android from their Galaxy Tab range by the middle of 2017) but don't expect them to jump in at all except for strategic investments in Korean publishers.
