Hey Sup Forums
Trying to build my first pc in 10 years.
Anyone care to comment on part list:

The Samsung 840 EVO is from my old laptop.

Get a b150 or h110 motherboard for your locked i5, get a HDD and 650w is overkill.

Personally, I'd drop that SSD for now and getting a smaller and cheaper one just for the OS later

what PSU would be fitting?

I tweaked a few things for you and saved you a few bucks:

The video cards subjective, but in all honesty 300ish is pushing 1070 territory, and you'd be better off just saving 100 more and getting that instead.

user you dont need a overclocking mobo if you have no intel k series cpu
grab a h110M series motherboard those are cheaper anyway
also you need to get a heatsink for your cpu like a evo 212 they one that is included with the cpu isnt that great
and maybe get cheaper ram sticks

You should get the i5 6600k, it's considered the highest you should go for a gaming PC. I think it doesn't have a stock cooler though, so add a $25 one.

Get that motherboard only if you buy an unlocked "k" processor, if not get a cheaper one h110M.

Since it's more expensive, recover some money by only getting 1 memory stick of 8GB, it should be more than enough unless you play some extreme HD textures mods or VM windows 10.

Get a cheaper 128 GB SSD for your OS only, video games will only improve on loading times but not performance, only good for modding games.

I assume you already have a HDD.

Get a 450W power supply, I just checked 2 seconds but the Corsair SF450 doesn't look bad and it's gold rated.

The price should have balanced out now.

Why? Whats memetic about it?

PSUs are rated bronze, silver, gold, platinum based on their efficiency. PC part picker will tell you the needed wattage for your build. Usually you want to add 100w to that figure. I run a dual-card build on 450w.

You'll pay more for watts you don't use, that money can be better spent on buying a PSU that is higher rated, or modular (unused cables detach). Corsair, Bequiet, Silverstone, Coolermaster and Novatech are the best PSU manufacturers.

Like this guy said, your processor is locked, your motherboard is unlocked. So you're wasting money on that feature, since you won't be able to overclock it.

I disagree with this guy. I have two SSDs around 250gb combined, one for OS, one for games. OS is the main reason to own an SSD, but games do benefit as well.

Buy a hard drive to put your media files on. Video and audio files do not benefit from being on an SSD at all.

The case is a personal choice. So I can't help you with that, but I'm glad it's not a riced up piece of shit.

I like that case, combine it with

The PSU is overkill though, 450W Gold is more than enough even for the AMD card.

So get a 128gb SSD just for the OS(want to stick with Windows7)? OK
The 16gb are for "future proofing" and because some of the games I want to play are quite memory hungry/badly optimised.
I sort of feel safer with the 550w PSU since it leaves headroom for upgrading.

You still have around 50 GB for games on that SSD assuming the OS is 70GB which you can even trim down, what I do is copying the 1~3 games I'm playing at the moment to SSD and copy them back to HDD when I'm done.

Moving your pagefile to the HDD saves you 16GB with no performance issues unless it's an old HDD. You can also delete 20GB of windows update files, however your windows wont be able to repair itself if it breaks during an update. I didn't have any problems for 5 years now, but in my case I'm prepared if it breaks so I don't lose any file.

About the PSU you're probably right, go for the 550W.

I've got pretty much the same PC user, runs smooth as fuck without overclock. Tho I only go for the 60 fps, and let me tell you that the SSD is needed for your PC to run good, because I had windows installed in a 4 year old 2TB HDD and it was fucking bad, everything I did took forever.

Also that case is fucking gorgeous, I'd buy some more LEDs to see well the inside of your PC.

I don't really care for the loading times on video games to be honest. Might wait for Vega and go with an i7 6700k though. When will Vega hit the market?

The CPU cooler is very popular. It's good, but you can get better performance for a cheaper price - look into the Cryorig m9i:

techpowerup.com/reviews/CRYORIG/M9i/6.html

If you only want 2133 RAM then get some cheap RAM that doesn't come with heatsinks, it will function exactly the same

On the other hand I could get that 250gb SSD for pretty cheap and what is wrong with having some extra space?

Weird, that fan is actually x2 times more expensive in my country than the Evo.

You wont notice too much difference with that CPU, you will notice improvement on video editing and encoding and multitasking, but only a few frames on games. On average you only get %5 more frames (or none, or even less frames), the only game I've seen performing much better on the 6700k is the last farcry with %20 more fps, so I guess games with open big worlds will run better.

I don't think it's a waste of money, since the resell price will obviously be much higher than the 6600 or 6600k, but you shouldn't prioritize it over a better card if you're tight on budget, for example I rather get the 6600k + gtx1070 and you'll get a much better PC than a 6700k + gtx1060.

Though pairing the RX490(when it gets released) with the i7 6700k. A RX480 and i5 6600k would be ore then enough for my needs, but an i7/490 would surely be "future proof" and I would be set for several years.

Hoping you're the user that made the list

I thought you were in the US as you posted in dollars. Maybe the 'be quiet! Pure Rock'? it's cheaper than the Evo in my country, I live in the UK.

I don't think that PSU is an overkill, assuming he would OC CPU/GPU

Will AMD Zen support Windows7?
