Is a new 3DS coming out?

Seeing as it's been 2 years since the "New" 3DS XL came out, does anyone know if they've got a better one in the works? I'm finally looking upgrade from my original 3DS, and I don't want to get fucked after buying and New XL.
Also, those non-XL Black Friday ones for $100 look like dogshit.

No, Switch is the replacement for 3DS.

Switch is coming out in 4 months

Do they really intend to replace the 3DS with it, though?
I know it's a "portable console" but it seems as portable as slapping one of those mini-monitors on a gamecube and using a wireless controller.

What about ''single ecosystem'' don't you understand?

I had this, it was cool as a kid but the screen has a shitty refresh rate.

I mean, you don't have to plug it in I guess, but at the same time, it doesn't exactly fit in your pocket.

We dont know we can only speculate

There will be a 4DS but it will be Japan only

Not familiar with the latest Sup Forums-memes, care to explain?

Is it really tho? it seems more like its own thing. I still think the 3ds will be around even with the switch. nintendo isnt putting all its eggs in its basket.

You're safe for at least two more years with a new 3ds. Pulling this out of my ass but I wholly expect a lot of traditionally 3ds games being sent to their online store for download on the Switch along with an expansion into the mobile market with loads of shovelware.

Ohhh, the SMALL New 3DS systems are the $99 ones. I thought I got seriously ripped off. Thanks, OP. I was mad for no reason.

As for the switch. It's probably not any much bigger than the biggest mobile phones out there. It'll still be more comfortable in your pocket than say the Game Boy

Not one single handheld ip has been shown or talked about for the switch, and if it was going to inherit the library of both lines i'm sure they would have hammered that in the ad. Apparently a pokemon game will be on the system but it's likely a spinoff game like pokken.

3ds successor will probably be out sometime in 2018.

>Also, those non-XL Black Friday ones for $100 look like dogshit.
You change those ugly face plates

Idk man, unless you're 350 pounds and wearing gym shorts, this thing probably won't fit in your pocket. Not to mention those joysticks would probably get fucked up.

For sure, but to produce them for $100 might also mean that they cut back on the quality of the materials. Not a typical nintendo move, but they also know that every single one they produce will likely sell on the 25th. The price cut is too suspicious, and the XL looks better since I have big hands and shitty eyes.

>cut back on the quality of the materials
shit I just remembered how some 3ds have a better screen than others.
they might all use the shitty one, who knows.

That's one hilariously bad comparison.

It's honestly just more like a bigger Vita. It's not going to fit in your pocket but it's still perfectly portable enough to play on a train, bus, airplane or something. You're just going to have to carry a bag or something around to put it in.

They're doing exactly what they did for the DS. They're treating it as a sort of "third pillar", which is just a fancy way to say "if this fails, we'll fall back on the old one".

the 3d is cool

remove the joysticks then.
eh I don't put my handhelds in my pocket anymore I put them in my hoodie and jacket.

new 3ds XL is pretty lit desu

got 2 majora's mask ones and scalped 1 on ebay, basically upgraded for free

It means most games are supposed to run on any of the machines.

The Switch is the successor to the 3DS. Black Friday $99 deal is your best bet if you want a more direct upgrade.

The New 3DS is coming out in black and white in the United States this Black Friday for $129.99. No game pre-installed.

Ignore all the retards in this thread lying to you.

So far the only places confirmed to have it are Amazon, Wal-mart's website, and BestBuy's website.

Black version.

99 usd, it's 130 in canada because Trudeau killed the exchange rate.

>$130 in Canada

Canada doesn't have Black Friday, their Thanksgiving was back in October.

Yeah, they are still the New version. I honestly might get one, if it means I can get a black one.

And I don't really see any mainstream 3DS support after 2018 hits. So I think we have one full year left of solid support.

Does it come with charger? Can I pirate it?

No charger. That's what the red strip is on the front of the box.

And probably not.
UNLESS you have other means to hack it such as a physical 3DS game with the save exploit on it, or another 3DS that is on a lower firmware and hacked.

amazon has a green new XL with Super Mario World preinstalled

Doesn't change the fact that the systems are coming out in canada on American black friday, price was wrong though, they're charging 139 cad.

What would be the best video game console for me?

I'm looking for consoles that have very few violent games

consoles that have many games Rated E for Everyone with the ESRB

Consoles where there are not any online modes

Very cheap consoles.

And games.

I hate RPG games.

I hate fighting games.

I hate shooting games.
I hate strategy games.
I hate games with online mode.

I like sports games

I like racing games (arcade and realistic)

I like FIFA games.

And I like games that everyone can play regardless of their age

They're probably on 11.2, need a hacked 3ds for system transfer exploits or a hardmod to install cfw.

>sports games, racing, FIFA
south america, do you even like video games?

Anyone with big hands know if the non-XL is comfortable to hold?

I'm from Central America.

And I hate pokèmon.

I hate Zelda.

I hate ultimate fantasy.

I hate multiplayer online games.

Hate kingdom hearts

I hate GTA.

And I also hate games with online options

gamestop, too right? that's what they told me

get a ps4

But I hate games and consoles that have online options.

then go fuck yourself nothing out there has what you want other than a ps2

Go to your nearest shitty electronics store and get a fucking PS2 then.

ps2, a gun and kill yourself

And what games for Playstation 2 would recommend me?

Remember.

Only games with rated E for Everyone in the ESRB

No RPG games.

It's not safe to use on a plane, what if it makes a turn while you're using it?

Soccer balls are $10-15

FIFA/PES

gran turismo

nascar games

this is all very google-able

I've heard the 100$ model is going to have IPS screens, can't provide a sauce though.

I highly doubt they'll release a new 3DS model. There aren't many more big games coming for it, most developers are looking to the Switch or other consoles. They'll keep it around in case the Switch bombs, but that thing is obviously handheld first and home console second.

All 3DS' look like dogshit, but the XL is fine if you have big hands. You're not likely to find IPS screens randomly and it isn't worth returning them until you do.
If you want to hack it, don't update the console until the new exploit gets released.

>tfw europoor
>tfw want a 3ds
i have to rely on luck that my local stores put a N3DS on sale

i hated PES (Pro Evolution Soccer)

They're fine, at least the Old 3DS is.

PS2 had online features, which you seem to hate.
Get some bootleg 5000000 games in 1 console and some bagged milk.

The Switch will replace the 3DS, don't let Nintendo bullshit you. Hell, rumors already say it's getting Sun and Moon

fuck off retard

for me.

FIFA is much better than PES.

Because in FIFA is the Major League Soccer (MLS)

The PS4 is not gonna yell at you if you don't use online like the xbone, better get one of the first models.

What playstation 4 games would you recommend me?

remember.

Games E For Everyone.

No RPG games.

And if they are games with nothing online better

Dude, fuck off.

Fuck off josé.

>They're doing exactly what they did for the DS
They called the DS a third pillar, but dropped support for the GBA the moment it released. 3DS is dead to Nintendo once the Switch releases.

That's why they still released games for it for like 2 years? and released and new gba version. okay.

Just don't be surprised if they do. Remember when they said the DS won't replace the gameboy.

The DS released in 2004. The last game developed by Nintendo for the GBA was released in 2004. So no, they did not release games for it for like 2 years.

Are new 3ds xls hackable? Particularly the galaxy ones but and of the xls. I know the mario kart 7 ones are but I don't like them

Someone that got an early one said they use the TN panels.

>The last game developed by Nintendo for the GBA was released in 2004.

Wrong.

its all gonna be switch, its basically what they want to put all their eggs in a basket, they dont want to split their fanbase in handheld and consoles anymore. so they get the switch which is basically both.

They're putting it all in one basket; a really big basket with lots of bells and whistles.

How many versions of the same platform do you want, man?

So what you're saying is, you want a video game, but you hate literally everything video games have to offer.

So what the fuck are you doing here? Go watch a movie or weave a basket or something.

Tico?

>There are still people who believe the Switch will replace the 3DS

It's more likely that the 3DS will get it's own successor. The Switch and the 3DS offer two different gaming experiences.

3DS: Glasses-free 3D, dual screens, games designed with mainly handheld players in mind. Smaller with clamshell design, allowing you to fit it in your pocket.

Switch: Single screen, mainly console-like games, no camera. Larger, and thus only portable like a tablet

>It's more likely that the 3DS will get it's own successor.
It won't. Nintendo combined their home and handheld divisions. This is it. If there IS another DS, it will be announced five years from now at the absolute earliest, and that's assuming the Switch is a WiiU level failure.

>The Switch and the 3DS offer two different gaming experiences.
They really, really don't. If the last five years have taught us anything, it's Glasses-less 3D does not "A new experience" make.

>It's more likely that the 3DS will get it's own successor.
Yeah, the Switch

Remember when Nintendo said the DS wasn't replacing the GBA? It is all PR talk
If the switch sells well, there is no reason to keep 2 consoles

Nintendo is unlikely to give up on dual screen handhelds. None of you are brave enough to argue why they would replace a dual screen device with a single screen console.

Which one, type A or B, supposed to be better?

>why they would replace a dual screen device with a single screen console.
Have you seen how they emulate DS games on Wii U? They just put a second screen on the screen.

You put the joysticks in your other pocket, and put the console in the other.

>None of you are brave enough to argue why they would replace a dual screen device with a single screen console.

Because it's cheaper.
Because the WiiU, a home console with that gimmick, is the least selling home console in Nintendo history
Because the 3DS is also the least selling handheld in Nintendo history
Because Iwata was the main progenitor of the "Experiences before hardware" philosophy behind hardware design, and he's dead now.

They've already explained it to you.
Nintendo's home console wasn't selling to their expectations, so they're no longer making dedicated home consoles. Switch has the ability to connect to TVs, but it's primarily a portable device. This allows them to release all of their games for one system so that software support isn't spread thin by the need to create separate games for multiple devices.

You also have to remember they merged their console and home divisions back in 2015.

Why are denial idiots like this around?
Dual screens mean nothing. No device uses two screens except Nintendo's meme machine.

>99 usd, it's 130 in canada because Trudeau killed the exchange rate.
When you canucks will hang this cuck?

Not for nothing, but Nintendo themselves have been moving away from dual-screen play patterns for years.
By making the top screen bigger and 3D, the 3DS isn't even really a dual-screen handheld, it's a single-screen handheld that happens to have a supplementary screen. Remember on the DS, how there were TONS of games that used the two screens as one concurrent screen with a thing in the middle? Or how you could turn the DS sideways to use it differently? How many 3DS games do that? Basically zero.
How many 3DS games actually make use of the bottom screen in a way that isn't just a convenient repository for HUD elements that would fit very cleanly on a larger resolution screen? Off the top of my head, I can think of zero.

And then there's the WiiU, where a lot of game actively avoid using both screens in favor of being able to readily and conveniently switch from one to the other

Nintendo's been moving away from dual-screen hardware for years, they've just been stuck with it all that time.

The Wii U's dual screen feature failed because it gets frustrating to tilt your head up and down. The Dual screen feature on the DS and 3DS was successful because it was easy to quickly move your eyes up and down, glacing from top to bottom screen.

Plus the DS was Nintendo's best selling handheld at 154.02 million so don't try say "oh the 3DS was the least selling Nintendo handheld" as an argument to suggest Nintendo will stop making Dual screen devices.

>it's been 2 years

Somebody tell time to slow the fuck down.

>It's more likely that the 3DS will get it's own successor.
At most will be a New New 3DS/HDS that maybe use leftovers Tegra X1 and/or the DMP M300

Gameboy Advance had higher sales than 3DS, user.
And they said DS was a "third pillar", not a replacement for GBA.

I'm so glad the switch is coming out and making the 3DS obsolete. All those retards with hacked 3DSs have a paperweight, now, especially considering that 3DS emulators are completed and fully accurate

The DS was over a full decade ago, user.

By your logic, with the Wii being the most successful Nintendo home console in history Nintendo should be still going all-in on motion controls, but that went out super quick, didn't it?

>pokemon just came out
>mario maker 3ds
>ever oasis
>DQ8

paperweight tho

I'm sure if Brain Age never came out, the DS would have remained that third pillar.

>All those retards with hacked 3DSs have a paperweight, now

Don't be retarded.
"All those retards" still have a fully featured handheld with over ten years of games to go through.

Don't be that idiot who thinks every console is equipped with a kill-switch for when the next new thing comes along.

>Don't be that idiot who thinks every console is equipped with a kill-switch for when the next new thing comes along.

And the DS had more sales than the GBA.
154.02 million vs 81.51 million
Why would they go back to single screen dedicated handhelds again?

it literally has noting after pokemon.
you'll also have to enable piracy to get dq8's jap ost, which is orchestrated instead of midi. not sure why we're getting midi.
