Huh? Why are you asking me? I loved that game.

>shitty level design
>all levels are same theme
>missing half the moves from mario 64
>fludd makes jumping/platforming too easy

I like it because it had such an upbeat/summer feel that reminded me of the childhood summers I never had but wanted.

I liked it. I recall being let down a bit as I was hoping more for Super Mario 64 2.

Unskippable cutscenes, weirdly walled off, repeat bosses, cleaning shit up, lazy shadow mario missions, blue coins, multiple red coin missions per level.
Also I hate the piantas and don't like the beach theme as much as other people apparently do.

i enjoyed it but the level diversity was really lacking and i was really shitty at some of the secret shine sprite challenges
i'd rather play SM64 twice than SMS once

I love it because im not a faggot

Sunshine is my jam

>unskippable cutscenes

do you even speedrun?

Shit platforming, mediocre level design, and the physics are an asshole

I still enjoyed it but it wasn't absolutely amazing like people seem to think it is

It will stop being so amazing in a few years and Galaxy will be the true gem.
It's a really weird phenomenon

But I loved it.

Not as much as 64, but still a good 8.5 title.

Fludd sucked

Level designs were boring

That's it

it felt weird to play, but i see why people like it

Galaxy has always been considered a gem, since the day it was released.

Sunshine is the only 3D Mario game I can stand.

But I loved Sunshine

Its probably my second favorite Nintendo game besides Super Metroid honestly

-The Camera
-Endless coin collecting
-Bad sub levels
-Lack of a kick or punch option because it would make the FLUDD system pointless

>The camera

The fuck are you on about?

The camera is horrible. Especially when climbing or in a tight hallway.

Even Nintendo themselves pointed out how bad the camera was. Specifically citing the bad camera in Sunshine as the inspiration for why Mario Galaxy has a set camera. And that fixing the camera was the biggest focus in developing Mario Galaxy.

Never noticed. Few times had an issue but was perfect overall.

>Specifically citing the bad camera in Sunshine as the inspiration for why Mario Galaxy has a set camera
Ironic, since Galaxy's camera is absolute shit and Sunshine's camera is the only good camera in the entire 3D Mario series.

But hey, fuck giving players the freedom to put the camera exactly where they want it, right?

>too easy

What 3D mario game isn't?

Worst 3D Mario

It's blatantly unfinished because they needed to get a game out for the cube asap

Pachinko and poison river. I could deal with the game if those two levels didn't exist. But every single time I thing, oh hey, maybe I'll replay Mario Sunshine, I remember the horrors of pachinko and poison river and I shake my head and walk away.

Do you? The court cutscene is prime bathroom break time.

>Unskippable cutscenes
Oh boy! Another five minute awkward Bowser Jr cutscene!

Everybody threw a shitfit because it wasn't 64-2 Including me

Once you get used to it though it's pretty neat. I liked Galaxy too until I realised that Galaxies only had 3 regular stars and the rest are shitty comets and repeating what you already did but feeding a fat fuck Luma.

PS Blue Coins suck

What was the comfiest level in the game and why was it Pianta Village?

I love Pianta village. Love climbing around on the underbelly and popping back up to avoid the flames

>relaxing in the hot spring

didn't like the setting, too much story and cutscenes, some missions are fucking atrocious (you know the ones), garbage version of yoshi, too linear objectives wise

second worst 3D mario after 3D world

>Thoughest Mario game by a landslide
>Too easy

>Thoughest Mario game by a landslide
So you're too young to have played Mario 2: Lost Levels?

>>all levels are the same theme
This is wrong and you know it

This level triggered my autism

The boat killed me so many times.

I like it. Game's noticeably unfinished though and has some really shitty aspects to it.

>Unfinished

I love this meme

What?

Apparently you have played neither or are too young to have any skill to speak of ingrained in you in 2D Marios if you think Lost Levels is hard.

Besides that wouldn't even be the toughest 2D Mario, try the challenges in NSMBW, that shit had me grinding my teeth for days.

>Apparently you have played neither or are too young to have any skill to speak of ingrained in you in 2D Marios if you think Lost Levels is hard.
Its so sad when people try to sound smart to cover up their idiotic logic.

eurogamer.net/articles/2013-06-23-super-mario-sunshine-retrospective

>Some of those can be explained - if not excused - by Nintendo rushing the final stages of development: it's since admitted it had to hurry Sunshine to market because of overwhelming demand and the lack of third-party titles to fill release gaps.

>rushed
>lacking in levels
>level design that doesnt take advantage of what FLUDD can do
>unbalanced FLUDD nozzles
>weird voice acting
>unskippable cutscenes
>too much talking
>retarded premise
>poor difficulty curve
>the camera seemed even worse than 64
>yoshi is supposed to be a "power up" yet actually makes you weaker instead of stronger

dont get me wrong, it's not a bad game. it had the most complicated mario in the entire series, and had lots of potential for some interesting levels. i also loved the tropical setting of isle delfino.

the game's enjoyable, but ultimately flawed and unfinished. i enjoyed my time with it, but when i look back at it, i feel disappointed because it could've been more.

Because it doesn't have the tight control and physics of Super Mario 64.
Because it has far too many gimmicky shit-tier missions.
Because Blue Coins exist.
Because you're forced to use F.L.U.D.D.
Because of shit like the pachinko stage and cleaning the eel's teeth.
Because of bad voice acting. Hell, because of voice acting in general.

intro cutscene
they run out of shine ideas quickly

>fludd makes jumping/platforming too easy
It certainly does, but I find that it allows for more complex level design. Speaking of which...
>shitty level design
Sunshine has a ton of variety. It's just that there are a lot of random stuff that may not necessarily need to be in a Mario game, but it's different, you know?

I think the first half of Corona Mountain was one of the best parts of the game. It was actual tricky platforming in a real environment instead of an alternate dimension built out of of random block assets. The hover nozzle is suddenly a vital mechanic to survive instead of a get out of platforming jail free card. Think you can take your sweet time? Get fucked, now you're on fire.

And then it ends in 60 seconds and it's back to gimmicks and the most underwhelming boss in a series full of underwhelming bosses. Why the fuck didn't we get more of that and less coin collecting, Shadow Mario chasing, filler garbage? Super Mario Sunshine sucked.

I do

I keep seing people mention unskippable cutscenes. I could swear they were skippable, though.

It's even sadder if people have troubles with Lost Levels, talk shit about games they've never completed and resort to name-calling instead of giving examples.

that spaceworld demo had a delfino plaza that looked fucking amazing and felt like you were actually running through a city the delfino plaza we got is just a singular line of buildings that wraps around and forms a shallow enclosure

Miyamoto's idea of a rushed game is something that wasn;t delayed 5 years.

I'd hate to see what kind of abomination it would have turned into if they'd delayed it any longer. Besides Battleship Island and Erto rock don't sound like full levels and nothing resembling them appears anywhere in Delfino's skyboxes, not even as dummied data.

that level was metal as fuck until you got to sleepy time boat

HUH

They are not, or speedruns/TAS runs would be entertaining

Terrible level design.

>cleaning the eel's teeth
>Not one of the best shines by far.

git gud

all they had to do was just only use the mudboat once and never again

but no

those fuckers did it multiple times

>haunted hotel
>chipper theme park
>palm-shaded resort beach
>bustling harbor
>quaint hillside town and lake
>hidden village suspended between giant trees
>sheer cliffs over a pristine bay

Yeah, what a bunch of generic shit. They should have done some cool, memorable areas like

>Fire Zone
>Ice Zone
>Underground Zone
>Forest Zone
>etc.

Watermelons, the boats, pachinko, blue coin filler and the retarded story.

It's one of those games where it has a lot of good in it, and a lot of bad in it.
The tropical theme of the game gets really boring to look at if you're someone like me who dislikes the beach.
There are a lot of gimmicks in the vast majority of the levels instead of making actually fun levels to travel through. And some of the fucking levels are such dick-suckers.
Lots of stupid shit in getting the Shine Sprites. Like collecting the fucking Blue Coins.
And the only good voice actor in the game is Charles Martinet as Mario.

It's a decent game. like said it has good and bad.

I really like the level themes but the levels themselves were pretty poorly designed, sometimes to the point that it's discouraging to even play the game. That's pretty damn bad. Although rare there are a few missions I really enjoyed, such as the blooper race.

Unskippable cutscenes, but has a likeable albeit corny story.

Music is great.

Honestly I won't lie, for me the game's appeal lies in it's presentation. The themes are... and I hate myself for using this word in such a simplistic way... the themes are "fun". The music fits well with each level, the garble garble of each character and just everything meshes together very, very well. I like it more than I should for indescribable reasons.

>all levels are same theme

I thought this was supposed to be why the game is bad, not why it's good.

Holy shit like 5 minutes of cutscenes total in a 10-50 hour game.
That doesn't excuse that you can't skip them but really? Is that the big problem of this game that like every second post has to mention it?

If you don't go for a 100%, it's a good game. Maybe better than both Galaxy's and 64. But if you go to the trouble that is getting every Shine Sprite, every damn Blue Coin, every FUCKING 100 coin Shine, you are in for the disappointment of your life.

I mean, let's be real haunted hotel is a haunted mansion except tropical
Everything else is original

>A graveyard is a haunted mansion except outside
>A haunted castle is a haunted mansion except with stone
